OHMYGODTHISPLACEISAMAZING! So many pinball machines! I can’t think of anyplace else in the city that has this many pinball machines. Fun place to take a date, too.

Laundry, beer, pinball– what’s not to like? Great atmosphere for a bar even if you don’t play. Highly recommended.

Great beer selection. The pizza comes out SUPER quick. And how can you beat the pinball games they have? Took my friends and they were impressed.

What an ingenious business idea, laundromat, pinball, and BOOZE! Why didn’t I think of this? The bar itself is in back behind a «washer/dryer» door façade, super cool! It’s a nice bar and is clean, cozy, and inviting. There are a ton of board games and plenty more pinball machines. They have what I would consider a good beer selection(few wines, no liquor) for pretty good prices! We took out of town guests one night while exploring Greenpoint and would definitely return.

Cool concept, great pinball machines and awesome expansion with the bar in the back. Unfortunately, it’s a bit of style over substance in terms of looking just at the laundromat portion. Washing machine was set to hot and my clothes were ice cold when I opened the machine up, and dryers don’t work that well and require a long time for them to get small loads of clothes dry. The machines are also overpriced compared to Brooklynites Laundry down the street, and those work a helluva lot better. Sunshine should replace the machines and lower the prices or bill itself as a pinball bar first and a laundromat second.

I don’t think any laundromat can be fun… except this one. There is a door in the back that is disguised as a pair of washers/dryers. When you pull it, a room with 20+ pinball machines and a bar that serves wine and beer greets you. If you don’t come here often, like me, make sure to bring ATLEAST $ 20. You will have the time of your life with these machines. There are also three machines in the front. Bottom line is, you MUST check this place out if you are near Greenpoint.

This place is definitely worth checking out, cool concept. I like that locals actually use the front for laundry and don’t even seem all that interested in the bar. Cool hidden door disguised as a washer/dryer door. Some great pinball machines if that is your thing. And if you happen to be a single lady who enjoys watching nerdy guys working up a serious sweat playing pinball, this is where you should go. Decent variety of beers too.

This is the best place to play pinball in NYC. I’ve spent many hours at reciprocal skateboards, modern pinball, two bits retro arcade, jackbar, and the various bars with 1 – 2 tables, and the choice of tables and table condition here is better than anywhere else. The new back room, hidden behind dryer doors, has the feeling of being at a private party, with music at a reasonable level, warm lighting, and and a reasonable amount of space to move around without people bumping into you while you’re making a critical shot.

I love it! I spend(waste) so many quarters playing pinball whilst laundering & it’s great! The downsides are the narrowness & their machines don’t have a delicate cycle.

The staff is always nice and helpful. I love how people are so one sided and use Unilocal to troll a nice business. God forbid the owners here actually require ignored rent. Keep up the awesome job Sunshine staff, you and your adorable dogs :)

So you’re probably asking yourself why did a guy from Miami go to a laundromat in the middle of Brooklyn? Pinball, of course! Doesn’t everyone go to play pinball in a laundromat? No? Yeah, seems like a weird idea but this laundromat has some of the most rare and sought after pinball machines all in one place, it’s a collector’s dream just to come here. Unfortunately for me, they were re-doing things and the majority of the machines were folded up and stored on top of the dryers at the time, but it didn’t matter because the whole idea of this place is too cool for less than a 5 star rating. Hopefully the construction will be done before my return visit.

Total bummer to realize my clothes have been slowly disappearing when you use the wash and fold service. I’m not sure if it’s intentional or not since all the missing items are black or navy tees. Maybe they’re easy items to mix into someone else’s batch? Or just seem like the loss wouldn’t be noticeable? It’s probably more likely to be the latter. I’ve lost at least five not-too-cheap-tops into the black hole of laundry. It’s more likely that I’ll just find another laundromat than it is that I’ll stop being too lazy to wash my own clothes. So, imagine this. You have the wonderful idea to indulge in some wine. Red wine. You think, oh wouldn’t it be romantic to talk about our future while relaxing in bed. With a glass of wine. Case in point: don’t. My boyfriend spills his glass all over the bed sheets and we have to make due since we were staying in an AirBnB and checkout was the next morning. So we find ourselves trying to fix the issue while looking up laundromats on Unilocal.Nothing. It was a Sunday night at 9pm! We finally found Sunshine about 15 minutes later, packed the sheets in our suitcase, and jumped on the next train to Greenpoint from Williamsburg. All while sheets are filled with salt since he read the salt can soak up the wine. Once we get there at about 10pm we inform the man who works there about our situation and he said if it does take longer to wash, that’s okay. Relief! He gets us some stain remover and we start spraying away. After it’s in the wash, we were entertained by the cutest chocolate lab and Breaking Bad playing overhead. The sheets were dry and stain-free right at 11pm. Thank you for making a miserable and embarrassing situation better!

Drove in with a few buddies from NJ to check out Sunshine. What a phenomenal experience! Immaculately serviced machines for $ 0.50 play!!! A custom built Area 51 arcade INSIDE an industrial washer!!! As a fellow dog owner, I will be bringing my little guy next time if Peter the owner is around. Cannot say enough about this little gem in BK!

I always look forward to do laundry here. Great hours I never feel that I’m in a rush. Great customer service, Peter is one of the funniest and amiable person in the neighborhood. I guarantee this probably will be the most unique laundromat you will encounter. Everywhere in the laundromat there’s something funny. You definitely will leave there with a laugh.

I used to do laundry at the place half a block from my apartment. Then I discovered Sunshine Laundromat. Now I schlep 20 pounds of clothes here every week, even though it’s five minutes away. It’s worth it. Sunshine is the greatest laundromat of all time. Strictly as a laundromat, Sunshine would earn five stars. The washers wash. The dryers are hot. It’s everything else that makes Sunshine other-worldly. 1) Pinball There are more than a dozen pinball machines here that the owner, a pinball-junkie named Peter, keeps in perfect shape. They include Medieval Madness, the Addams Family, Indiana Jones, Cirqus Voltaire, Spiderman, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Scared Stiff, White Water, Cactus Canyon, FunHouse, Terminator 2 and my favorite, Theatre of Magic. If you beat my high score on Theatre, I will be at Sunshine from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. until I triple your score. There’s also a couple of ones I’ve never seen anywhere else: Safe Cracker and Big Bang Bar. Peter fixes all the machines himself. If there’s anything wrong with them and he’s in the laundromat, he might be able to tweak the machine immediately. 2) Hannah/Choco Peter has a chocolate lab named Hannah, though everyone calls her Choco. She is the most docile dog ever. She lies to lay on the ground and get petted by laundry doers and pinball players alike. 3) The parties I started doing laundry here after Peter throw a Cinco de Mayo party, complete with drinks in the washers, churros and free pinball. One of my friends loved it so much that he rented out the laundromat for his birthday party. Peter shut the place to the public around 9 p.m. and let about 30 of us stay until 1 a.m. 4) The art There are little jokes hidden throughout the laundromat, sort of like the 826 Valencia pirate shop in San Francisco. Some are obvious, like the operational Area 51 videogame that’s sits inside a dryer. There’s lots of art, mostly of Choco, mounted on the walls and ceilings of the place. Peter also likes to conduct social experiments in the vending machines. He once placed a 72-pack of pre-cooked bacon and offered it for $ 10. Then, daily, he started taping stuff to the bacon package: a filled-out coffee card, a $ 2 bill, a Justin Bieber iPhone case. He was trying to figure out what it would take someone buy it. I eventually caved in and bought the bacon when he had taped $ 8 to the package. The coffee card itself was worth more than $ 2, so I basically got free bacon and a free Bieber case. 5) Peter He is the creative genius behind everything in the laundromat, which has turned Sunshine into a hidden art gallery. He is also the kindest person, always offering me food and snacks. I look forward to doing laundry every week because of this place.

If you’re going to do laundry then why not do it at a place with some character and have some fun in the process? So I used to live in Greenpoint years ago and did my laundry at a regular boring laundromat down the street and I hated being bored there. Then I found Sunshine with(at the time) 4 pinball machines. And I realized that my time doing laundry did not have to be a boring waste of my time but something enjoyable. I have seen this place grow from 4 pinball machines to 15 currently. And the machines are the best of the best titles from the 80s and 90s(and pricing from the 80s and 90s — 50 cents). Most importantly they are super well-maintained and in great condition. So nice that I actually bought a machine from the owner Peter for my home. Also there are alot of quirky touches that give this place so much character. Love the artwork and this place is dog friendly. If Peter is there you can be sure his chocolate lab is there too. Check out the vending machine for some whoopee cushions and mustaches. Or even some precooked bacon. For a good laugh read some of the signs that get hung up around the place. Now I live in Jersey, but I still make trips back to Sunshine to play pinball and just hang out. It’s that much fun. I am going to have my next birthday party here, other people have done it, just ask Peter. I am sure if you wanted to have your wedding and reception here, Peter would make it happen. Heck, he just threw a Cinco De Mayo party here last week and it was the most unique and memorable experience in recent memory: simultaneously laundry, pinball, dogs, drinks, a piñata and a ton of fun. To sum up — Only place in NYC where you can play the best selection of quality pinball machines, get your laundry done, and have a good time.

For a long time New York City has bred hundreds and hundreds of «secret spots» where only people who are in the know will go to. The Forbes Gallery was one, back when it had its collection of Faberge eggs. The Brooklyn Banks was one for skateboarders before it was destroyed. For pinballers, the best kept secret of New York is the Sunshine Laundromat in Greenpoint. This isn’t just some Laundromat with a few junky random machines strewn about. The owner is an enthusiast who has curated in a selection of what are regarded as the best pinball machines of the early nineties. He also repairs them frequently so they are all in perfect shape. You will be hard pressed to find more pristine examples of these machines in New York City. The owner will rotate in pinball machines from his personal collection if a machine proves unpopular. This is a perfect date spot if you couple it with dinner at the Japanese restaurant across the street and your date isn’t turned off by hanging out at a laundromat. I’ve been going here for a couple of years now but felt driven to write a review after having a particularly good time there that culminated in the owner giving us beverages and selling me the playfield from a FIre pinball machine. I heartily implore all curious young folks to check out Greenpoint’s best secret hangout. As of this writing Sunshine Laundry currently has these pins out: Attack From Mars Monster Bash Theater of Magic Addams Family(gold edition) Indiana Jones(the original one) Cirqus Voltaire Twilight Zone Funhouse Elvira: Scared Stiff Medieval Madness T2 Star Trek: TNG White Water Jurassic Park World Cup Soccer Spider-Man ACDC Safecracker Getaway Big Bang Bar Arabian Nights Cactus Canyon

The pinball is FANTASTIC! This little laundromat is gem in Greenpoint, and is definitely one of the best places to play pinball in the city. I don’t think anyone takes as much pride and care of these machines like Peter(who by the way, is an incredibly friendly and welcoming person). A nice blend of the top-tier machines and classics. I’ve traveled here dozens of times just to play pinball. Currently, Sunshine has Twilight Zone, Medieval Madness, Theatre of Magic, The Addams Family(Gold Edition), Monster Bash, Attack From Mars, Funhouse, Tales of the Arabian Nights, Indiana Jones the Pinball Adventure, World Cup Soccer, White Water and Jack Bot! COMEHERE if you want to have a great time(and have some socks that need washing.)

Best place ever. More pinball tables than any other location in the city, best price in the city, high quality coffee next door and the best donuts in the city down the Ave(Peter Pan). After expanding their pinball fivefold, place is still not«discovered,» so it’s still easy to get your favorite table(mine is Tales of the Arabian Nights)

I’m not proud of the addition to my carbon footprint, but I often drive my laundry from South Brooklyn to Greenpoint. Laundry is just more bearable with pinball. Sunshine has about ten machines to play, and some of the best games ever! Theatre of Magic, Attack from Mars, Medieval Madness, Adams Family, and Monster Bash. I could go on. They are *all* 50c per play, a steal. Oh, the washers($ 2.25) work fine, and 25c gets you 5 minutes of «compu-dry» dryer technology. That apparently means one really hot dryer– so beware, it’s easy to cook your clothes while you’re tending to those flippers.
