Clean facility, personable, skilled doctor, and professional staff. I’ve heard every horror story about having foot surgery, however my experience was relatively easy and not half as bad as people tried to warn me. I guess they should’ve gone to Dr. S!

I am sorry to say I was unable to get an appointment with Dr. S. even though I am Diabetic, have a foot infection, and live in the neighborhood. And this is my second attempt to do so! Her secretary also sounds like she’s doing the world a favor if she fits you in, which she did not. So if you have time to spare, she may be worth waiting for, I wouldn’t know, having never met her; but if not, count her out.

I’ve had problems with my feet for years and had no luck with a podiatrist until I came to Dr Schneidermesser. I had terrible recurring pain in the ball of my left foot and often just had very sore feet. She x-​rayed my left foot, diagnosed a neuroma (inflamed nerve in metatarsal region) and she gave me exercises to do to alleviate the soreness in my feet. She gave me orthotics with metatarsal cushioning in addition to the arch support ($ 45) and I skipped out feeling like I’d finally get some relief. I did my exercises daily which involved stretches to my very tight hamstrings and achilles tendon. I haven’t heard a peep from my neuroma. I went back for a follow-​up, she applied heat through some kind of laser and I was done. I just need to continue with the exercises. Very happy with my foot doctor and I know now where to go should I have further issues.

Dr. Schneidermesser renews my faith in medicine. She is direct, non-​interventionist and truly empathizes with the patient… a rare find. Just wish I had gone to her sooner. It would have saved a lot of pain and aggravation. I highly recommend her.

The doctor is fabulous, her office is beautiful, and her staff is pleasant and professional. Perhaps S.R. had an less then stellar experience with the staff because of of their own horrible attitude. I have always been treated with courtesy and respect and my visits have always been fabulous even when I was «squeezed in» and had to wait to see the doctor. I would recommend Dr. Susan to anyone having problems with their feet!

Dr. Schneidermesser really is the best. It’s so rare that you get to say that about a doctor these days.
I went to 8 specialists before anyone could tell me that I had a text book case of plantar faciitis. I went home and looked it up online and it explained all my foot pain to a tee.
Dr. Scheidermesser treated me with one shot of a corticosteroid which she said she didn’t typically give on the first visit. She said I was in so much pain for so long that she thought I might want to consider it. She explained why she thought this in plain English and didn’t pressure me into it in the slightest. I, of course, jumped at the prospect of pain relief anywhere in my body (I’ve had unexplained chronic pain for 6 months now). My foot problems were completely better after 10 days of simple exercises and icing my feet daily.
Got foot pain? Go see Susan Schneidermesser ASAP. Excellent bedside manner and a good, smart brain on that one.

‘m not one to ‘rate’ or ‘write a review’ on much of anything, but this is one time in my life I have been compelled to do so. I’ve done quite a bit of research on podiatrists and had in mind what I was looking for regarding a physician and the treatment of my ailment. When I came upon Dr. Susan Schneidermesser, to say simply «impressed» would be a VAST understatement in her abilities as a podiatrist.
Whilst my issue is quite common, it was misdiagnosed (by many others in her field) for decades. My ailment was, what I thought to be, athletes foot, fungus nail & excessive hard skin buildup (that no pedicure or pumice stone would help). Needless to say this, for a woman is quite embarrassing.
She is not only knowledgeable but patient and diligent. Dr. Schneidermesser’s technique and manner made me feel as though there is a light @ the end of this long dark, dreary and embarrassing tunnel.
Since being a patient of Dr. S’, for only a few short months (compared to the years with her other colleagues) it has been 26 years since I have felt my own hardwood floors against the skin on my feet. After being a patient of hers (yes, I feel the need to repeat this) for only a few short months, I can HAPPILY, PROUDLY and LOUDLY say «I am woman of 41 and I finally have FEET! — two beautiful, happy and ready for OPEN TOE, SLING BACK, FLIP FLOP sandaled feet this coming summer!»
To anyone suffering from ANY and ALL podiatric issues, roll, race and or DRAG yourself to Dr. Susan Schneidermesser’s office. You will be as happy and as impressed as I am!
And to the «Ms. Hillary M», I apologize for your experience but I’m sure it was not with the same Dr. Schneidermesser, that has received all these afore mentioned reviews. I sincerely doubt they are the same physician. Medical assistance comes with a cost, and at times that cost might be more than what we have. I’m sure Dr. Schneidermesser would’ve worked with you, as most physicians these days are. Keep in mind, your podiatric issue may be more expensive over time, should you not seek the help of a competent, skilled professional. I recommend you see Dr. Susan Schneidermesser on 40 Prospect Park West, in Brooklyn, NYC 11 215. I promise you won’t be disappointed and podiatric healing will be yours!

well is it 9 weeks on Monday (June 10^th) since Dr. Schneidermesser did my surgery. I had a titanium joint implant put in. She needed to take out my arthritic corroded big toe joint and put the implant in. I can’t believe it every time that I look down at my foot and see that it now looks like a normal foot is supposed to look — no bumps, no overlapping — just a straight big toe! I think that people have to understand that surgery, especially when it involves bones, will require healing time. And when it is your foot, it is not like you can say «oh well I will just use my other one», but after the first few days I was up and about and within 2 weeks was transitioning back into a regular shoe. At this point I am back to doing a speed walk in the morning around the loop in Prospect Park, working all day and doing all the things I was doing before the surgery, but with a new toe, that bends instead of the one I had before that did not bend at all due to the arthritis. Once I am totally healed I am going to do the other foot.
I think Dr. S is the best!

I hate to do this but must relate my experience. Dr, Schneidermeser, who came highly recommended (see reviews) and has a kind and lovely manner, advised an operation for my very arthritic big toe, telling me I would be pain free and back in my shoes in two weeks. She neglected to tell me I would be in agonizing pain for two days afterwards, to suggest crutches so I could move on the third day, or provide me with adequate pain meds: I had to ask for all of these myself. (I was already on pain meds for back pain so she didn’t think I needed any more.) I could not sleep for two nights because of the pain — OK — but I should have known that and planned for it. When I told he, r she said that people on the kind of meds I was on often did poorly with pain, implying that whatever was going on was my fault. This continued to be her attitude — she never took responsibility for my not healing.
Two — then three — than four weeks later it hurt badly every time I took a step. I kept going in and she kept taking an xray and saying I was fine. Meanwhile my foot got more and more swollen and I was in more and more pain. When I told her this she asked, «Well, isnt it better than before the operation?» which showed she had not heard anything I said, as I had walked without pain before it. She dismissed my concern and told me maybe I had adhesions — and to go to rehab. I knew my foot was far too swollen and painful for that. I continued to ask for help and continued to be dismissed and treated as though I was over-​reacting. (Her receptionist always sounds like it’s a tremendous imposition to give you an appointment.) I feared I could never walk without pain again.
After SEVEN WEEKS of this I got sick — had a fever and couldn’t get out of bed for three days and my foot was even more swollen. Desperate, I went to another also highly recommended podiatrist in the area, Dr. Amar. She agreed that something was badly wrong, probably that my foot was infected and making me sick, and that I was in no shape to do rehab. She put me on a high dose of antibiotics and anti-​inflamatories right away and told me to call her if I didn’t feel better by the next day. I didn’t need to, as by the next afternoon I no longer felt sick, and by the next day I could walk without pain. My foot is getting better every day. Now I can do rehab. if I need it, but I don’t think I will.
Dr. Schneidermesser looked at the x-​ray and didn’t listen to me. I guess she decided that since I have chronic back pain and take a narcotic for it, that I wasn’t worth listening to. Thank goodness I went to Dr. Amar The experience with Dr. S was disheartening and scary. I need to share this as a warning.

Dr. Schneidermesser is absolutely amazing. She is very patient, extremely skilled and she doesn’t mind spending time with you to explain everything you need to know about your condition. Her level of compassion, kindness and professionalism is absolutely remarkable. The very first minute you meet her you can tell she actually cares about you, and that makes a huge difference for me. I had surgery with her right after hurricane Sandy (she decided not to postpone it!) and once it was over, my husband tried to find a cab to take me home-​it was impossible… the whole city was a real mess. Dr. Schneidermesser quickly offered to drive us home… and with a smile! Dr. Schneidermesser, THANK YOU so much for being such an extraordinary doctor with such a good heart! We need more doctors (and people) like you :-)

Why does the Baltimore native, former Brooklynite, come to NYC for vacation? For foot surgery, of course. Dr. Susan Schneidermesser provided fabulous skill and patient care for my foot surgery yesterday. I trust her as a learned and skilled medical professional whose advice I can rely upon and whose technique was top notch. She assembled a great congenial surgical team and was able to make things happen on short notice. Her office is conveniently located in Park Slope and she has excellent taste in music. For all of your podiatry needs in Brooklyn, and the other boros, make a point of scheduling to meet Dr. Susan Schneidermesser! One week after surgery, I am suited up and going to work :-)

I had a large lump on a vein on the top of my foot and it was a painful so I called the office to make an appointment. Doc was fully booked since she was leaving for vacation in a few days but I was told she would call me. A few hours later I received a message to come in the next day before regualr hours started and she would see me. There was a short wait which I managed to tolerate quietly despite being of a «certain» age. She diagnosed the problem and told me what to do to treat it. She was very gentle and informative, wish all docs were like her.

Amazing doctor. Friendly, professional, skilled, kind, straightforward, great! And the staff is wonderful as well.
The office manager, let me wait for an opening to get my ingrown toenail removed. (I know, ewwwww.) So I waited for almost two hours. But that’s okay; I didn’t have an appointment and my toe was NASTY. It seemed like the waiting room moved pretty quickly. No one was complaining too much, and it was mainly ladies of a *certain* age, so that was pretty amazing.
Once I got in, the doctor took a quick look at my toe. Took a look at my infant in the carseat, and asked if I was nursing. Uh oh. The Lydocaine (is that what the injection is?) doesn’t go well with nursing. I was afraid she’d say to put it off until I stopped nursing. By that time I’d have an ingrown nail climbing up my calf! Instead, she suggested doing it without a numbing agent. I jumped on it. Brave as I am. Well, that, and she promised it would take all of 35 seconds. She was right, and once it was over it was no worse than the worst of the ingrown nail. She wrapped me up and suggested Bacitracin and a band-​aid for three days. I was out the door less than 15 minutes after I entered the examination room.
