T Kang Taekwondo Martial Arts Centers

Been going there for over a year now and I love it. I started with the kick boxing class then decided to do the martial arts portion and never regretted it. Awesome instructors, they push you to help you reach your goals.

Just an over the top black belt mill. They should be ashamed of themselves. 8 year olds with black belts? Taekwondo black belts that cannot kick. Ridiculous!

I joined T. Kang Taekwondo 2960 Avenue U about a year ago now and have been impressed and hooked ever since then. I believe the quality of a school is reflected on the quality of its staff/​leadership. The leadership/​staff, Master Pascal and Sabumnim Jones, of that school are full of positive energy, full of creativity to keep the mind motivated to learn this wonderful art, and full of passion and dedication to its students which is reflected by the constant personalized attention each student gets in a classroom setting. This school has it all. I have attended another Taekwondo school before this one, and this one wowed me with the variety of classes they offer and how many classes they offer a week for adults. Most nights, there are 2 – 3 classes available to take… And each one of these classes has a different focus so that you have an opportunity to work on every facet of the art. I have personally improved my kicks, forms and flexibility more in one year than I did in the two years in the prior school that I attended. I have also lost 20lbs in 5 months and am in better shape than I have ever been. With each class that I take, it leaves me begging for more. The feel good feeling that I experience for that one hour class is priceless. For people like me that constantly need variety to avoid boredom and monotony… there are classes that focus on stretching, cardio classes, traditional classes, weapons classes and the list goes on and on and on. Like I said — never bored !!! Another thing I enjoy is the culture that the instructors have worked hard to foster, one that is based on respect and camaraderie. Every time you step into that classroom, you are greeted by other more senior students who are eager to help you review the material that you learned in addition to the instructors making themselves available to you before class and after class. It has a family like attitude, you come in and fit right in as if you have known these people for years all the while improving on your fitness and flexibility, improving your health and learning a martial art. What else can you ask for?

I cannot say enough about this school. I got my black belt here 15 years ago and though I left for personal reasons, it was always in my heart and I yearned to come back. Now I’m finally back and my 6 year old son attends as well. He loves it!!! We both go at least three times a week and my son would go four or five times if he could. The instructors are patient, yet tough enough to draw out what even you don’t think you have in you. For one price, you can take as many classes as you want, every day of the week if you wish. In fact, the instructors actually encourage you to come more often! Where else can you get that?! There is NO better place to strengthen your mind, body and character. This place is my second home.

I started taking Taekwondo in February 2008 at the T. Kang Martial Arts Center on Avenue U in Brooklyn. I was 45 years old at the time and I needed something more then just exercise. Something mindful. I got that and more! I was taught a skill, self defense, self discipline, confidence, and self worth. It has changed my life completely. The instructors are extremely dedicated. Master Pascal is amazing and runs the school but is totally hands on! He will not let you get away with anything, ‘no excuses’! If he knows you can physically do something, he will push you until you get it done. He is a leader and a teacher and strives on excellence!
Sahbumnim Jones is Master Pascal’s faithful sidekick. Don’t let her petite frame fool you! She is a powerhouse beyond her years. Of the two, she is definitely the ‘good cop’, but is also not afraid to push. Her skill is perfected, and has no problem with breaking it down. The school in itself is very clean and really convenient; parking is not a problem. They are open 6 days a week Monday through Saturday and offer private lessons on Sunday. There are also cardio, weight training, and stretch classes for those who do not wish to try TKD. The kids classes start after school at 4pm, and on Saturday mornings. The weekday adult classes start at 7pm and Saturday at noon. Try them out!
