History
Established in 2014.
After working at Fonda Restaurant and Rosa Mexicano chef Raul Leyva decided to partnered with his friend Juan Lobato to bring a nice and casual Mexican taqueria to Kensington Brooklyn NY.

Business Owner
Chef Raul Leyva was born in Brooklyn N. Y and raised in the State of Puebla, in Mexico, where his passion for food was ignited in his grandma’s kitchen. Later he returned to the United States, worked in restaurants, then graduated from the culinary program at New York City’s The Art Institutes. During his studies, he got a job at Rosa Mexicano restaurants, starting as a line cook and working his way up to sous chef. In 2010, after four years at Rosa Mexicano, he left to join Fonda restaurant in Brooklyn as executive chef. When Fonda opened its second location, in the East Village, he collaborated with chef-owner Roberto Santibanez to develop the menu and launch the restaurant. Today he is the chef/owner of Tacos el Catrin in Kensington Brooklyn NY.
