I absolutely LOVED this place! I’ve only been there once but they were a lifesaver. A few weeks ago, I was dealing with a bed bug situation and my exterminator suggested I apply caulk to baseboards cracks and crevices. It was late on a Sunday when I discovered more bugs and felt I needed to handle the situation at the time. I did a search and Taj Mahal was one of the few hardware stores relatively close that was open late on a Sunday — a rarity! The gentleman who works there, I wish I had asked his name, was delightful. He was nice and attentive and extremely knowledgeable as I’d never used caulk, much less bought some and a caulk gun. He took his time with all of his customers and made sure that we understood all of our options. All of this was a rarity in a hardware store! He was also a lifesaver since I had only meant to get a tube or two, not knowing how large the job would be, and he informed me that they were having a sale and sold me a whole box worth(a blessing in disguise since I ended up using most of the tubes). Before leaving I waited in the store while requesting an über and he was kind enough to tell me that there was a car service a block or so away and even offered to call one for me. Prior to this we also had a great conversation about mom and pop shops, and I couldn’t agree more. This example is evidence, mom and pop shops are the best! Support them and start by supporting Taj Mahal. :)

I am not a very handy person and I don’t often frequent hardware stores unless I need a very specific item. It was 6:30 on a Friday when my plumber told me that he was missing 2 items that could only be found at a hardware store. I volunteered to go so that he could keep working on whatever it is he needed to work on. I walked around my neighborhood for about 15 minutes and soon realized that I may not be able to find a hardware store that was even open. I called a few places and thankfully someone picked up here and even had what I needed. Score! The only downside was that I had to walk 2.5 miles round trip and I was in crappy flip flops. Oh well. I finally got to the store around 6:50 and I told the man at the desk what I need. After he grabbed a few things for me, my plumber called and started asking questions about things I know nothing about. I handed the phone to another guy at the store and he was able to understand what the plumber needed. I was in the store for about 15 minutes with 2 of the nicest people helping me. Without them I would have had no idea what I was doing. When I got home I was so happy that I got the right pieces. No thanks to me of course. This is what good customer service is all about.

Really nice guy! They have all the tools needed here, my dad goes to them often for small things but they have it all. The guy helped me put my bike together and got me the perfect tools to open up my bathroom that got locked from the inside.
