Really like the atmosphere here… it’s really cute and interesting without being hipster-ish. Their BBQ Rib platter is delicious. The meat is incredibly tender and just falls right off the bone. It’s also a pretty sizable portion. I strongly recommend the sweet plantains which are perfectly caramelized.

If you are craving Mexican this is the place hands down. All fresh Guacamole chip and salsa are the best I’ve ever had. Seasoning on the chips that is sooooooo good salsa not to many onions. Fajitas are MINT. Staff is great we love Brenda think she’s the owner. Place is already good and when they get there liquor license its going to be a wrap!!! Nice lounge area in the new area as well. They do deliver and I mean they do deliver. My wife and I are from Rochester area and when we come in to eat which is every time we come down to go birding a few times a year the delivery boys are non stop in there bikes. Kudos to this great Mexican kitchen. Keep up the great food and hard work Brenda. See you in soon.

This place, like everyone says, would be even more awesome if they served liquor. However, whenever my boyfriend and I go here, we forget all about alcohol because we are just blindsided by how crunchy delicious the chips and salsa were. As for our entrees, we would order different stuff each time but all in all, everything has been great. Good, solid Mexican place right in our neighborhood.

I love the fact that they deliver to my house! I ordered the El Patron burrito and it was so good! The food was still nice and hot and the burrito was so tasty. I can’t wait to order from them again!

Though connected to my friend and wanting to love it, until the liquor license comes I may not return. The molè at Burger Mexico across the street is better, but the salsa an guac are fine here. The fish tacos were fried rather than grilled or cevichë, a negative to me but the fish was fresh.

This is a neighborhood spot so I visited a few times before a giving review. The location is great, and while the lack of a liquor license often annoys me; I’ve come around to liking the idea of B.Y.O.B. The décor is typical, and the wait staff is extremely friendly. The reason I only gave 3 stars is the food! It’s truly nothing to write home about. It’s just ok! I do love their guacamole, which is made at the table and to your taste. It comes with chips that have paprika and salt on it. When I asked if I could have chips without that stuff on it. I learned the chips weren’t made to order, if I recall she mentioned a big bag. Either way after my third visit I learned to like the chips, since they were flaky and fresh. Oh let me add the side of black beans I ordered was tasty. The one time I had a entrée it was not delicious. Plus my friends never likes their food from here. I use this place as a appetizer and drinks spot. Will I be back for that!

This place is my Jam. BYOB while they figure out their bar. Food– the food is phenomenal, and fresh tasting. Comes out very quickly and piping hot. Service– we’ve had the same server the last three times we went and he’s the man. He has a great playlist playing every time we are in there. His knowledge of the menu seems to be phenomenal and on top of that he’s just a nice dude. We give him a beer every time we go. Atmosphere– super comfy, and well laid out as not to feel like you’re on top of people. Would and will return frequently.

I just came from there with my bestfriend. I sat at the table for 20 mins and no one came to even say hello. And we were the only 2 ppl in there. Terrible business. Terrible.

Great addition to the neighborhood with an extensive list of diverse, creative recipes. Really love the Coney Island burrito and the saucy El Patron burrito, both packed with flavor and fulfilling an «oh my god I need a delicious burrito right now!» craving. While the guac could stand to be a tad chunkier, it’s still very tasty and a great compliment to whatever you’re ordering. It also comes with homemade chips that have a delicious secret seasoning sprinkled all over them. Nomnomnom!

I love this place. If you are looking for solid, tasty Mexican food with large portions made by friendly people, it doesn’t get any better. Not fancy and won’t knock your socks off but I order from here all the time. P. S. wtf is that review below that gave 3 stars for«great food but no ice in my water»

Take out is always questionable. How do you get tacos and not one wedge of lime?! Nothing gets a lime. You have to ask. It’s so damn crazy. Ruin a taco why don’t you!

At first sight the interior almost burns; plastered in chunky prime colors with day-glow accents, it is the least relaxing place to end the day. If then you were not overwhelmed, prepare yourself to read a five page menu of entrees. The length of the menu inclined myself to believe that the food was frozen or canned. Such assumptions were proven true upon the delivery of an overcooked, synthetic tasting chicken/bean burrito. The cheese on top was greasy and looked like that of Kraft string cheese. I felt inclined to write a review given two identical visits and the recent increase in their pricing. While service was nice and I believe they mean well, the food is more or less what you would make at home if you were feeling tired, or were reaching for microwave ready meal. The prices no longer match the quality of food and atmosphere.

Mehhhh the food here is IGHT. I came with my friend today and although we were looking for a more high energy place we settled down anyway since we traveled for Mexican food before our next class. The music sounded like Lite FM’s greatest hits and the crowd was very granola. The menu is vast though, plus the food is cheap which I appreciated. I got a lunch special; an open burrito with mushrooms instead of meat that came with a can of soda. The cheese on my burrito was not melted btw, what’s that about? Yeah, it’s a no from me dawg.

Some of my favorite tacos around. And I do love me some chicken tacos. Been going here now since they opened and I’m glad they’ve gotten their menu worked out and added the rotisserie chicken. That chicken is the definition of comfort food on those days when my boss drives me crazy. I love sitting at the bar and tearing into half a chicken like a neanderthal. It’s practically medieval… with a side of green salsa. Hint, a place with«Taqueria» in the name isn’t burying the lead so stick to the menu items that have«taco» «burrito» or some form of Spanish in their name and you’ll be a happy camper. And when you need a smile and friendly face to ask about your day be sure to sit at the bar, guaranteed to brighten even the worst case of the Mondays.

I have never been into the restaurant because I only order delivery so this review is just based on that. The food is delicious and it always arrive warm, which I love! I use Seamless to order out for delivery and the food always arrives in the estimated time range, usually 30 – 40 minutes. The delivery person is always pleasant and even texted me once and waited outside my door when I didn’t hear the doorbell or my phone ring… great customer service! The food is delicious! My favorite is the steak quesadilla! My second favorite is the taco and enchiladas combo, such a good deal for the price…13 dollars! I also really love the grilled corn. Maybe I should try out the Unilocal delivery option next time! :)

After a few months, they seemed to have worked out the new business kinks. The chips are no longer mysteriously half-stale. Now all of the chips are fresh, crispy, and tasty. The salsa and hot sauces are freshly made by the restaurant. Nothing comes from a jar or bought pre-made. The owner proudly told us how they use fresh tomatoes for the salsa. I always order the El Barrio burrito with steak and red beans(meat, rice and beans) with a whole wheat tortilla. The steak is of very good quality. I love the rice and beans and could quite frankly eat it very happily all by itself. The burrito is simple, but very good and tasty. And as always, the service is friendly and cheerful.

I really like that this place is byob. It’s fine that they don’t serve alcohol, drinks at restaurants and bars are alway so expensive. It’ll save you some money! I’ve been here about 10 times and agree with most of the other reviews, the food is not unique or spectacular but sometimes you just want a basic meal(or two). The burritos are beg enough that it takes me two meals to finish it. Their meat nachos are actually pretty awesome too and they have like 15 different kinds of burritos. I think they could liven up the dishes on the menu by offering some different and unique condiments and salsas. Only once did I have a bad dining experience there. It was slammed, there was only one waitress, and I was hangry with low blood sugar. This is a recipe for unhappiness so I’m not considering it as an exemplary experience about the restaurant. I’ll keep coming back. It’s also in an incredibly convenient location and this is the only restaurant in the neighborhood where you can eat outside!

After exploring Prospect Park and getting caught in the rain, I found this restaurant using Unilocal and stopped in for lunch. I sat outside(they don’t have a ton of outside seating but it was perfect for a solo lunch) and had one of their lunch specials. I ordered the crispy burrito(veggie) lunch special, which was $ 10 and came with a canned soda. The waiter brought out a water and chips and salsa as soon as I sat down. The water had no ice and I was brought a cup but no ice with the soda as well. I didn’t ask for ice but it struck me as a little odd in the middle of the summer. The burrito itself was huge and very tasty. It was packed with rice, beans, and corn. I was asked what type of beans I wanted and I asked for black beans, which the waiter confirmed with me twice. The burrito had pinto beans when I got it. I didn’t complain and still very much enjoyed it but if you have an allergy or don’t eat certain things you might want to be very specific.

If there were a line of folks mourning LPT, I’d be right there at the front of it, but Taqueria El Patron is off to a solid start. What I needed desperately was a lo-fi place to make me feel at home, and this place could just be it. Taqueria El Patron kept a lot of the LPT décor vibe, but took out the old busted parts and gave the entire space a brighter, cleaner look. Thanks to a family connection, they also have several of the same servers as LPT, which is a huge plus because those dudes are stellar servers. Okay so atmosphere check, service check, now the food. Its really good! Why is it always the whitest people whose closest connection to Mexico is «that one time they went to Cabo» who complain the most about«non-authentic Mexican food»? This place is owned and operated by Latinos and while I guess they tend to cater to the American palette, the food tastes great and the portions are beyond generous. The fish and shredded chicken tacos were delicious and filling, and the combo comes with a healthy side of rice, beans, and guac. A simple rice/beans/cheese burrito is only $ 6 and still the same size as LPT used to make ‘em. Free round of really flavorful salsa and homemade chips at your table was another big plus. There are a handful of things that still need to be fixed(like the fact that a side of sour cream is on the menu for $ 2.75), but I have faith! Now that they’re open for brunch the last big thing on the list is the booze, looking forward to margaritas soon I hope!
