Tasti D-Lite or D-isaster… It’s really a hit or miss place when it comes to service but the constant is mediocre ice cream. On my first visit, everything went fine and the cashier was very nice and great at his job. Their ice cream taste water downed though. On the second trip we were denied access to the shop at 10:00pm even though their sign says they close at 12:00am. Therefore we made a trip to pinkberry a few blocks down. And what did I see after we returned a hour later? There was people eating inside Tasti What-D-F. For advice, when you walk in, you can tell if you get the nice server or the bad server. If it is the latter, walk back out and try something else.

I really don’t like this place. I want them to have gummi bears as a topping, and they don’t. I have been here about 4 or so times, mostly because I know they have Heath Bar topping, and sometimes you just need that. My roommate told me when this craving hits me to just go buy a Heath Bar. I think I will take her advice. Much more satisfying. Especially when there is a Louie G’s right across the street. Why did I ever go here?

I’m THAT girl. You know the one that used to make fun of people drinking diet soda. I used to say I’d never in a million years subject myself to artificial sweeteners when I can enjoy the full fat flavor of the original. Now you’ll see me drinking Coke Zero like I’ve been doing it all my life. After rigorously working out for the past year, I can’t eat sweets without feeling guilty about it. I need cupcakes, ice cream and soda like I need air. At Tasti D-Lite I can enjoy ice cream-like soft serve without worrying about my love handles. Try their waffle cones and vanilla crumbs!

It’s alright. I’m not so in love w/Tasti D-Lite. I’m more of a froyo person. I had the take home dutch chocolate in a quart size and the lemon tart. It’s not creamy, so if you like creamy, luscious, oh-damn ice cream, this definitely ain’t it. Go elsewhere, there’s so many better places.

I definitely feel the love in this Tasti D branch. I went by late around 10:30pm on Sunday night and completely indulged in a Vanilla sugar cone. YUMMMM. I was greeted by a very nice male staff who offered me samples of the peanut butter or chocolate mint chip, but I politely declined since I already knew I wanted vanilla. I was skimped on the amount either. The fridge/freeze was filled with pre-packed ice cream in all sorts of flavours, and they also had ice cream cakes and flying saucers. COOL. Credit cards are accepted too which is a bonus, but I opted to pay cash of $ 3 for my fix of heaven. This branch also carries Ciao Bella gelato and sorbet. I’d definitely go back to this branch if I’m in the area.

Warning! Warning! There are side effects to trying to have your ice cream and eat it too with as few calories as possible! My husband and I went there — very nice folks, very friendly, gave us a few samples of their low-cal flavors which tasted yummy(banana pudding! dutch chocolate)! However, the next morning we both had severe(and we never ever have this problem) diarrhea. I googled around and sure enough, Tasti is known for this unpleasant side effect due to the sweeteners. Dudes, I got a small which is like cavity size. This stuff may taste okay going down, but the pounds are going to slip away for reasons you didn’t want them to… If you want to make that bargain, they do have a bench outside so you can watch the 7th avenue people go by. Damn. I really wanted to be able to go here regularly, but our intestines say otherwise.

Pretty good Vanilla frozen yogurt. Nutella frozen yogurt is a plus. $ 3.75 for a small with candy seems like a bit much, but really the small is all you’d need.

Had a horrible experience the first time I walked in here. The guy was blaring the radio in the back and when he eventually came out, I commented that the radio was pretty loud and his response was a resounding«I know». So I walked out. Kept hearing great reviews, so decided to give it another try, no hiccups the next few times… Today I walked in with my kids for a couple of cones and a sorbet. They charged me 3.50 for HALF a scoop of mango(I’ve been charged 1.50 in the past), and when I said we didn’t want it, the guy said it was too late because he had already served it. He wouldn’t relent with his claims that it has always been that much, and wouldn’t give me my money back. NEVER again will I set foot in that place, even if they start serving negative calorie ice cream that cures astigmatism!

I go here a whole bunch… Premium ice cream, it is not, but if I ate Ben & Jerry with the frequency I eat Tasty D, I wouldn’t be able to walk myself down to the store to get more; they would have to get me out the window with a crane. Some flavors are better than others, but overall, it’s satisfying, reasonably priced, and the ingredient list is much better than I would expect for an ice cream product with 100 calories(fewer chemicals than I would have thought).

NY Food Inspection Score: 5 Stars! I’m sure they’re very proud of their 100% score! My first time having Tasti D-Lite and it was sooooo good! I got the Brownie Batter with raspberries. I was so happy. And it’s healthy. The consistency was so nice and creamy but it wasn’t super rich. I wasn’t sure what the hell they put in it but it was definitely a guilt free snack. It was enjoyable even on a cold NY day.

I’ve only had good experiences here. They didn’t mind when I wanted multiple samples and then when I tacked a few things on to my order(yes, I was *that* person). I love it. It really hits that sweet spot without hitting your thighs, too.

Quasi-yogurt-product-lovers, stay loyal to Tasti-D during the dark days of ‘yogo-panda-esque’ installations! However, the service at this particular Tasti-D location is doing no great service to those of us that support this delicious dessert. We’ll do our part if they’ll do theirs…

Its tasti d-lite…so you are getting a guilt free dessert. But the service here was awful. Some mumbling, pissed off looking kid behind the counter that seemed to take forever to just make a medium size soft serve frozen yogurt. He was more concerned with his friend at was hanging out at the place than taking our order. I will go back if I am in the area simply because I love the product. I just hope next time I am not stuck with Mr gloom. It has a few tables inside if you want to hang there and finish your snack or sit with your kids. It is in a good location on Union… so you can pick up some treats and walk easily to Prospect Park on a nice day.
