I live a block down from this place. I have no idea what they were thinking opening a weird seasonal sandwich stand down here, but I am really really glad they did. This is good-tasting stuff, yo.

So I’m not quite sure if this place is seasonal or what, but i’m talking about the vacant lot on Grand – just to the left of the greasy chinese food place [deeeellliiccciioouusss] and Iona – that is now an outdoor coffee shop. It’s a neat place, with seating for about 10 people, plastic chairs, grafitti’d walls, and a gravel ground. Great spot to grab a coffee, read a magazine, and take in a little fresh air [barring that it’s not a whopping 100+ outside]. I went here the other day and got a yummy lemonade, they put mint and seltzer in it so it’s not too sweet and a croissant sandwhich. The sandwich was a bit pricey for basically a glorified food stand [6.50] but was incredible – it was grilled, with ham, gruyère and PESTO on a flaky melt in your mouth croissant. Keep in mind I am biased – i have a food-love affair with pesto. And the guy working there gave us free pastries [I guess he was closing and had to get rid of them.. .]Overall, a nice little addition to the south side!
