The Home Depot

I know there are larger home depots with a larger selection, but i love this place. Everyone is very friendly. The prices are great and the parking is easy and always a good spot available.
If you dont have a large enough vehicle there are a few vans outside that will deliver for you at a great price. Thumbs up.

My boyfriend is a general contractor and unfortunately has found himself in this crap Home Depot on many occasions over the past 10 years. We read through some previous reviews and had a good laugh at how true they are.

Here is one of his stories:
He went up to the counter with a 1−5/8″ metal track. Apparently there was no tag on it. The cashier looked him in the eye and said, «You can’t have that. We don’t sell that here.» My bf told her what is was and asked her nicely to look it up in the computer (which every other home depot will do with no problem) to get the price. She said «no» and asked the next customer to step up. They argued back and forth for a few minutes and she continued to refuse to look it up. Then she told him «I feel sorry for you. This is the way you treat people.»
Finally the parking lot cart attendant, who was not in the parking lot attending to the carts (which are 50 yards from the entrance) was sent to go get one with a label.
Lowes is only about 10% more expensive for better customer service and products that are not — BROKEN.
Home Depot in Elmont, NY is truly the best one.

Surly poor service is the standout problem. Asking for whether they had QuickDams & mason sand returned no reply from the 1^st 3 workers. No & 50lb only were the answers found after 10mns of walking around. The small plot size means a more limited selection than most Home Depot’s, but it’s generally sufficient. The displays are obviously aimed at speed with thoughtful touches for the harried NYCer like frequented items afront (instead bigger & seasonal ones as most others do), from-​box item displays to spare opening boxes, and Sandy-​specific items in particularly plentiful supply. Parking lot’s sufficient, but note that the entrance is the 2^nd one after the Lowes’ 1 when going northwest on Ave U since the fence separating the 2 has no break in it. Lot’s preferred spots are professional-​specific spots but would prefer to see disabled & pregnant co-​labelling.

This Home Depot is close to home.
I came here to buy paint.
Didn’t think that there would be a line at the paint counter at 9am on a Monday, but there was.
When it was finally my turn, I showed the associate the color on my phone (The Home Depot: Project Color app) & immediately tried to dismiss me & tell me that this isn’t her department, she’s just filling in & I need to get the color from the wall. (The color wasn’t on the wall by the way.)
Why? The color & code is right here on the phone!
When she finally figured that out, she started mixing my color.
I’m just glad I did my research before going to the store otherwise I would’ve been out of luck.
Then, of course, my brother knowing that I was at Home Depot decides to give me a list of things to buy.
I, of course, not knowing where anything is at Home Depot was frustrated but I was able to find an associate to help me unlike the Home Depot on Hamilton Avenue.
I’ll be back, I opened a Home Depot card & I’m renovating my room.

Honestly I wish there was an option to give zero stars. Let me start off my saying this Home Depot location is very disorganized and messy. There are nails laying on paint shelves, cleaning supplies laying around by the rug/​floor section, paper thrown everywhere, etc. I came in with a friend to buy some stuff for his new apartment. We needed some Command tape — double sided with that little piece of foamy stuff in the middle. We approached 4 associates who were walking together and asked them to direct us to the right aisle (because the aisle with tape did not have them). One of the female associates turns to us (after saying excuse me 3 times) and says «I’ll be right with you in a few. I have to show these people something in the back». Really?! Can’t take two seconds to direct me somewhere?! After telling my friends «let’s get out of here» she walks over and names an aisle where we can find it. We walk over and guess what? It’s just the paint aisle. Nothing there but paint cans. We walked out so fast and never looked back. On top of that — there are employees walking around with headphones in their ears, obnoxiously singing along to whatever they’re listening to, two employees were having a personal conversation including lots of cursing, and one of the cashiers was sucking her teeth at a customer who corrected an error she had made. Never coming back.

HD is like porn for me! I go in there and have to tell myself «No! You do not need a circular saw!» and «Back away from the power tools!» I lovingly go through all the sections imagine what could be… with my own two hands, a drill, a saw and some plywood… and maybe a sander.
I have yet to go to a Home Depot that did not keep me dreaming about what I could make, fix up and add on to, but thank goodness I am usually able to collect myself before I manage to make it back out the door an hour or so later!
Their garden department is great, too. I bought all my gardening supplies there this year now that I have a yard to plant in. More porn for me!
My favorite Home Depots are the one on Northern Blvd in Queens, NY and the one on 57^th St. In Manhattan. See you soon, my love, HD! I think I need to build some cabinets or something… ;)

The five star rating doesn’t mean The Home Depot in Mill Basin is flawless… it has its faults and shortcomings… but when compared to its next door neighbor, the poorly run Lowes at Kings Plaza … it is a no brainer which one to patronize!
Home Depot has:
Express Self –serve check-​outs ALWAYS OPEN (looks like Lowes has given up on their self check outs)
Quicker customer service
Ability to do an even exchange…
While this is a small Home Depot, you can surprisingly find most common items 99% of the time here… without the hassle that you get at Lowes…
So if you like to wait on endless lines, go to Lowes… but for faster service, Home Depot is the only option.

PZero stars. I don’t know why I even bother coming here. It must be the proximity to my home.
I came here to buy a gallon of paint and there was two people ahead of me and no associate in sight. After 10 mins. «shelly» finally showed up with a salty face. After barking at the little old lady and giving a gallon of paint to another customer she finally decides to inquire about me. After I gave her the color selection she asked me that it was eggshell. I asked her what that was and she replied after point to the display and said «you figure it out» I mean seriously? I hope she got out on the wrong side of bed but with an attitude like that she shouldn’t work the counter. She should not bring everyone around her to her bad mood.

Just move into the neighborhood. Made two quick trips for supplies. Parking was not ideal, but the service was excellent, staff was courteous.

They try to help n when they do help they send you to multiple wrong isles. I like gateway Home Depot better even tho it’s hard to find help sometimes

Worst Home Depot good luck trying to find someone to help you in this store. My mother and I went in to buy a sink when we finally decided on the one we wanted we looked around for someone to help everyone we came in contact with didn’t «work in the section» we left our cart by the sink which was high up on a shelf and to heavy for us to take down when we finally walked back over some guy who was strong enough took the sink down to purchase it so we missed out on what we wanted because no one would help us. This is why I don’t go to the ghetto you never get any help go to Long Island and there is someone asking you if you need help as soon as you walk thru the door. If you need to go to home depot do not go to this store !!!

Very limited selection. This is a Home Depot light they don’t carry big selection, just very basic stuff.

Not a great experience. I do not enjoy when store staff are speaking to each other as though they’re out on the street hanging out. I’m so tired of being in a store where staff have to be interrupted in order to notice the customer. At the height of the holiday season, why on earth are there only two cashiers open? The layout of the store is a bit odd. I couldn’t wait to get out of there.

This is the worst Home Depot ever. The staff act like they are at a nightclub, socializing as opposed to trying to help customers in the store. On more than one occasion, I waited several minutes at the returns area and no one ever noticed me. Ever with 5 staff present the last time I was there, no one asked if they could help me. The management response below is shocking. How could you not know how bad the customer service is at this store? No one should have to write Home Depot HQ to report this. Where are your internal control procedures?

Unfortunately have been to this store more than I would have liked. This store should be out of business. Not a single person around to help you and when you find someone to ask, they look at you as if you just asked for a kidney. They’re also not very educated on the products.
The two times I had GREAT service were from Ms. Chloe in paint and Bela in Woodwork. My suggestion would be to let these two manage the store and get rid of the lazy, dead, teenage weight there.
Maybe send your employees down the block to Lowe’s and see how customer service should be done.

If you know what you need and where to find it– then you’ll be fine. If you are not sure and need some help — good luck! Staff doesn’t seem to know about much regarding home improvement nor do they pretend to. They’re also hard to track down…
Checking out is also a hot mess. Anytime I’ve been in the store there has only been, at max, two cash registers open. On a Saturday afternoon when everyone and their brother are doing home improvement stuffs you only have two people working up front? Disaster.

Service here is excellent. There is always someone to help you. The lines are rarely long and plus the their is a self checkout.
During warm weather the flowers they sell are BEAUTIFUL! They provide a one year warranty on flowers! but make sure you have the receipt. They replaced a plant that had died on me due to my lack of care.
Catch their discounts and sales on their weekly ad.

I walked out of the Lowes this morning due to poor service. Came here and was given the best service ever. Everybody who helped me was courteous and professional. I will make this my first stop all the time. Sorry Lowes we are done!

My Home Depot experience left a lot to be desired. Purchased a window AC unit 2 weeks ago, and an order that should have taken 5 days to arrive, was dragged out to 10 days in this HEAT WAVE!
After my order did not arrive on the assigned delivery date, I called and they said they could not deliver because the order did not have the Apt. #. Upon checking my online submission, the Apt. was on the order, so I called them back. Then they said that the apt. # was lost during the transaction, and I had to wait 5 DAYS for them to deliver again. They issued me with a $ 50 gift card for the inconvenience.
The day before my 2^nd delivery attempt, I got an automated phone reminder, and lo and behold, the apt. # was not on the recording. Then had to waste more time calling the store to ensure that they put the apt. # on the order.
So finally the order came. A few days later I called the store to ask if they offer installation services… was placed on hold for 15 MINUTES and still got no answer. How do you not know if you offer a service or not? At this point I wish I had made the purchase from Lowe’s… At least they know what services they provide.
Bottom line, Home Depot needs to fix whatever error is causing Apt. # to drop off during online transactions and their staff should get more training before they interact with the public.

Definitely not the best Home Depot to shop at, but still worth visiting.
Layout is very strange, you walk in and have to make a hard left to get to the good stuff, their appliance section is not very big and their second floor showroom bounces more than the Brooklyn Bridge.
Other than that, you still get great service here and specifically, the kitchen department!
Christopher helped us design a great kitchen cabinet layout and did everything possible to save us some money. He was patient, friendly and had excellent knowledge of cabinetry, giving us tips and overall guidance throughout the process.
Good place to shop despite the undesirable layout and intense competition just next door. They promise to match competitors prices and so far they have for us.
