Purchased the large fruit platter and paid extra to have the platter delivered the very next day. The strawberries were moldy and rotted and contaminated the cantaloupe in the platter. Very unhappy with the platter as well as the company’s response which was, «it’s your fault you ordered the fruit platter and had it delivered by UPS.» Really? This logic is infuriating. Stand by your products and don’t blame the customer for rotten fruit based upon the delivery method. They should be ashamed. Don’t offer the service if you are not willing to stand by the products.

The greatest quality fruit there is. They let you sample everything before you buy it. The best berries ever. The Orchard’s fruit tastes as good or better than candy. I’m not even kidding. For folks who are complaining about the prices, you should just shop at the supermarket. Quality costs. You can’t find fruit like this elsewhere. The best hands down for healthy delicious fruit. If I lived around the corner, I’d be broke.

Yes, the produce is good. Question is. is it worth the money and the environmental toll? Probably not. We only bought a few items and it was $ 25. We shop at Whole Foods, but this is just insane. I believe it was like $ 10-$ 15 for a box of tomatoes. Plus, no price tags on most items. I’ll stick to the Union Square Farmer’s market or Whole Foods. I understand that they ship their items from around the world, but that’s another can of worms. I’m not a tree hugger, but I have to admit that it bothers me that this business functions at the expense of the environment.

Finally a place that had produce with amazing taste. Everything I get here is super fresh, juicy(fruits that is) and of outstanding quality. I would give it five stars if it wasn’t so pricey. But hey you get what you pay for. I wish they had labels with the prices. Oh and I didn’t get a receipt last time I was there. I should ask for it next time, cause I’m definitely going back. Their fruit baskets look amazing and they let you taste almost everything cause they r confident that once you try their fruits u are most likely to buy something.

Every single piece of fruit that I’ve ever bought here has been AMAZING. They don’t carry unripened/half rotten fruit. They don’t put the sticker over a worm hole or bruise. The staff often let me sample before I buy and offer me fresh cut specials when I walk in. Sometimes, when I want to try something new I don’t really know how to «pick a good one», but the staff at the orchard only puts out good ones so you can’t go wrong. They’ll even give you tips for how to select the best of the best. I’ve never tried their fruit platters, but I’m so impressed with their whole fruits in the store, that I will certainly keep them in mind for the future.

I’ve ordered their fruit baskets about 4 times so far. Their fruits are really fresh, each at the right peak of ripeness, intense flavor. The fruit baskets come out full and generous. Great alternative to flowers. I always gotten compliments from the people to whom I’ve sent them to. Same day delivery! Also had a chance to visit their place. Great selection of fruit and vegetables. Rare finds that are shipped from elsewhere. The best thing is they have many fruit samples to taste. Would be here daily if I lived in the neighborhood.

I sent a high priced item to my friends who are smart and savvy and they had rated the product D-. Amongst their numerous complaints, they found a HAIR on the cheese, Nothing more to say. Never, ever, again. My complaint was rejected by the company saying they could do nothing wrong. They do not issue credits, but offered another plate which was the last thing my friends wanted to see. Thank God for the net to express your experiences. I’m a person who spends loads of money on these types of gifts which they will never see. Today, customer service is what separates one company from another.

GREATSPOT!!! Great produce and a friendly staff always willing to help makes coming here a pleasure. I live in Coney Island and will not walk down to the beach this summer without taking the 10 minute drive up to Orchard for some fruit.

I’m a little late writing this review since I ordered their fruit platter for Christmas Eve. Ordering was relatively simple. I looked on line and then decided to go in personally and check them out before I placed my order. The staff was extremely helpful. I was able to taste some of the fresh fruit used and they guided me in making the right choice. They placed my order and when I arrived for pick up on Christmas Eve I was greeted with an incredibly beautiful platter of fresh fruit. I will certainly use them again.

I haven’t yet been inside this store but I know their products. I’ve received the gift of an Orchard fruit basket several times. It is so preferable to flowers! The fruit is always well chosen, gorgeous and sweet, at its peak of ripeness, never over-ripe or marred. Update: I still haven’t been inside the store but a few days ago I made a web order. It was a basket of whole fruits hand-delivered to a hospital patient. Unlike Edible Arrangements, where you can only get sliced fruit that requires refrigeration, I was able to get a basket of whole fruits called the«Organic» which can be kept with the patient in his room. It was just perfect.

Nothing is perfect, but for a fruit & veg merchant in NYC — or anywhere else I know of — The Orchard is definitely as good as it gets. They also have kosher certification, though most of their clientele(they deliver and/or ship everywhere) is probably Gentile. The Orchard has nothing to envy Fauchon, Hédiard, Peck or any of the best French & Italian open air markets. If I have any criticism of The Orchard it’s that they don’t carry fresh white Alba truffles & black Périgord ones in the late fall/early winter, nor fresh porcini or ovoli. On the other hand, The Orchard carries all the rest of the best that the land has to offer from the US& elsewhere. On your first visit, chances are that one of the staff will offer you some fruits to taste; in fact, on the left side of the store is a counter that usually has dishes full of sliced fresh fruit & plastic forks inviting you to munch. Once you’ve had a taste, you’re very likely to buy something. My favorites include their«golf ball» tomatoes(in season) that are the most intensely flavored & sweetest tomatoes in the world that come from some rural area in California; their blueberries & blackberries are like none other you’ve ever tasted; their peaches & especially nectarines are so aromatic, sweet & juicy(in season) that you wonder if you’re dreaming; all their melons are fabulous, & in season their European-style melons(from the Dominican Republic, I believe) easily rival anything you’ll find in Charente, Italy or Provence; the popcorn oranges & skinless pithless pink grapefruit sections are scrumptious; their freshly mixed salads are perfect & an excellent value for money, as are the fresh cut fruit salads; the cherries(in season), apricots, plums & grapes are the best you’ll find anywhere; the shelled peas, baby spinach, French beans, freshly shelled peas, baby zucchini, baby Kirbies(in season) & flawless fennel are all beautiful to look at & delicious to eat; their very varied selection of root vegetables includes lots of wonderful exotica that adds color to your dishes & tickles your palette to distraction. Strange that people say The Orchard is expensive, when Pomegranate, the big kosher supermarket two blocks away, sells inferior produce at the same price & equivalent produce more dearly(if/when they actually have it). Last but not least, The Orchard sells the best smoked & pickled fish you’ll find anywhere(the divinely delicious smoked salmon literally melts in your mouth), & they have a good olive selection as well. Definitely worth a detour(as the Red Guide would say) & people do come from all over the place to this mecca of superb eating. Do it!
