TJ Maxx

They had items out of boxes and everything was messed up and didn’t have anything organized. They have 10 or 11 registers and only 3 people working them. It wouldn’t be that bad if there wasn’t over 30 people in line the entire time. i was there.

Surprisingly I don’t mind shopping here, I have never seen a TJMAXX with 3+ floors. Yes, the clutter and items are not organized to which category it belongs and that can overwhelm you but you’ll adapt to it hahah. But that’s probably the store front of all tjmaxx stores (maybe) You can find great prices here compared to other department stores. Some things more pricey here, so always compare around. They have everything (limited furnitures, kitchen appliances, jewelry, snacks, etc) reminds me of Home goods.
It’s not 5 stars because the escalators are sometimes out of service. Elevator can be slow. Lines get super long! but get shorter quickly. It’s really a personal preference and Tjmaxx is a budget friendly place to shop and fits the bill for me. Go on, give it another go. Grab your coffee and shop on a weekday.

The smallest, worst layout, awful selection out of any TJ Maxx. The escalators are always broken, the elevator is too small, this store ruins the brand. TJ Maxx should overhaul or close this location.

I’m not sure why this store has such terrible reviews. Yeah, it’s a little hectic and messy sometimes. But let’s be serious, that’s like every store in Brooklyn. Do yourself a favor, grab a coffee next door at Starbucks and go on a weekday or early morning and it’s awesome. I always find something. Whatever I need I usually find, whether it being workout clothes, candles or cute a** Franco Sarto booties I got a few weeks ago. Thumbs up for me!

Absolutely a horribly ran store. Once I got to the cashier, after waiting 10 minutes in line. I see 3 associates ringing and 4 other associates laughing bull shitting behind the cash wrap. There were 23 customers in front of me and only 3 cashiers. ??? Really. It would not have pissed me off so bad if the 4 associates/​management staff had recognized that opening another register or 2 in a Friday when they obviously had the staff. It’s consisted a poor experience.

Since I moved to my new apartment TJ Maxx and I are best friends. The Bay Ridge location is a bit small but what finds!!! It’s a mini treasure hunt from floor to floor: all my linens are in these beautiful natural woven bins, my magazines are in baskets (set of 3) from Vietnam, my bath towels from DKNY to Calvin Klein are luxurious and soft, Calvin Klein Queen size bed skirt for $ 29.99 etc. You can get towel sets for $ 10! I recommend Sistema for pack able lunches in these beautiful plastic organizers from New Zealand.
All in all this is a great find and a very courteous and happy staff. I’m proud to say I’m a fashionista!

Messy and stuffed racks. Very small men’s department. Pretty good athletics selection. Small shoe selection. I have to say, on the positive side, the deals here are much better than most.
The location is very convenient to the R train and B1 and B16.

This is a very good store that has wonderful furniture, rugs and great handbags for gifts, etc. There are also nice selections of other gifts on the main floor and shopping carts which make it easy to stock up on things. So what if there is merchandise scattered about. There are also children running about, and it feels like home. This store is a happy place, and it is a nice experience to go there. It is also very conveniently located.

Never again, unless I can absolutely not avoid it. On the good: the escalators work without squeaking. The security guard had a big smile and a pleasant greeting for everyone. On the bad: just about everything else. I will list the following in descending-​order-​of-​annoyance factor:
Comfort
1) The basement (housewares) seems to have no ventilation. Stifling and oven-​like.
2) Stock
No appliances! What kind of big-​box store like this doesn’t have an appliance section? Go in to purchase a vacuum and you wind up emerging 30 minutes later, with those minutes sucked out of your day never to return. Go in to purchase a juicer, and you will spent those thirty minutes fruitlessly. (Are you getting the pith of my remarks here?)
3) Organization
No matter what you seek in this particular TJMAXX you will find yourself wandering around looking at soap-​dishes and back-​scratchers, kitchen magnets, wind chimes. there is very little ‘signage’ for the shelves and no ‘wayfinding’ for the sections. No human assistance either: I saw just one measly staffer listlessly shuffling around like a drone.
Meanwhile: all the shelves appear as if recently ransacked by burglars. Everything is higgeldy-​piggeldy, spilling off the carrels, all-​mixed-​together in sliding piles of bric-​à-​brac. Sloppiness not just on one shelf, but all the way through the store, right up to the shelves facing the cashier’s aisles! Where are the stock-​boys?
4) Not the fault of the store
Don’t go on a weekend. Obey this one golden rule with a store like this. Otherwise, you must hack your way through THRONGS of non-​English-​speaking shoppers from Little Calcutta and Little Durban and Little Tijuana all milling around like stunned sheep or cattle. There’s a certain kind of insanity in this scene, a crazy sense of hysteria, a feeling that at any moment someone is going to explode. Worse, its probably going to be you.
Sure, its conveniently located and sure there is Pizza Wagon, etc outside. Sure, the B63 passes by. But seriously, there is nothing in this store worth the depression which ensues from shopping here.

This was unfortunately my first tjmaxx experience and omg I was disappointed, I then thought to myself I would never go into a tjmaxx again, I figured all were the same until I found myself into a little emergency and that was the only store (tjmaxx) around near coney island ave, wow such a big difference, much more items and way organize. It’s such a big difference, I believe the one on 86 needs to be sit down… it actually needs a 0 star rating

Well… It’s not organized; the merchandise is all over the place. It’s not clean; the beauty product bottles are dirty from people testing and retesting even though they are not testers. It’s not Disneyland; the employees don’t look too happy to be there. BUT. The clearance section is banging. Lots of items, plenty to keep me occupied. I was very delighted to stay an hour (or two) just wandering around the basement looking at the sale section and of course, the pillows.

Hot mess…
Racks are a mess, home area has a slew of broken and damged goods, escalators almost always out of service. I saw a pair of shoes I loved (hard to find nice size 10 shoes) but the soles were dirty and scuffed, they had obviously been worn and returned!
I was ecstatic when this place opened, but increasingly disapointed in this place ever since.

This is a place that I should love. This store I should view as a place I can always get something needed at a very cheap price. The items however are rarely in in order. Chaos rules when it come to display set ups. The area a known as TJ MAXX is no place for people who know exactly what they want because they may not have your size, or color or even brand but chances are they have the exact thing you wasn’t looking for but always wanted.

Brands always have brand names stuff to make you look like you have $$$ but YOU know ya broke ass just saved $$$
Size 4 floors Not enormous but they cramp many departments clothing, housewares, toys, electronics in this building.
Location easy access R train or several bus stop on corner or a block away
CONS
STAFF I am sure the people who wore the costumes from the «BANANA SPLTS» found employment here so sad.
APPEARANCE the store has more products thrown around than a frisbee competition. It’s disorganized
CHECKOUT line has rivaled that at Great Adventure too long.

I’m all for bargains and finding awesome deals, but this TJ Maxx is in a state of disarray. I went into the ‘electronic accessories section’ to search for an ipad air case. I saw cases strewn all over the floor, mislabeled, not labeled, broken, in the wrong packaging as well as empty boxes left behind by five-​fingered discounters. The staff didn’t even know if they carried ipad air cases; after some field research, I determined that they do not.
In pretty bad shape, the selection is very limited and going through their racks triggered my nasal allergies. This is typically a clear sign to refrain from buying their clothes. With Century 21 the next block over, I’m not sure why anyone would choose to shop here.

Three words: Awful, Horrible, Disaster!!!

Lots of items to choose from but it’s always super messy from the high amount of people coming in and out of the store. I found a nice Michael Kors dress here for like 70 bucks so that was a score. The bags are pretty nice too but I think I’d rather go to Century 21 for bags. It’s somewhat disorganized here but it’s understandable.

This is probably the Worst Tjmaxx I’ve ever been to. They barely have any selection.
I understand discount stores are somewhat a mess… soooo I’m not complaining about that.
I did find some black boots so I’m happy about that. Every department is very verrryyyyyyyyyyy small… And many of the kids toys are broken.
I generally LOVE Tjmaxx. But this location is just more than a MISS than a HIT.
But I do always give it a chance and visit often, because a bargain hunter like myself loves to find great deals!

If you plan on shopping at Century 21, you may as well have a look at TJ Maxx. They are a block away from each other, and really, what’s another 10 minutes of sifting through miscellaneous closeout items. 10 minutes tops. That’s about how long it takes to go through TJ Maxx.
Really, the selection is pitiful. The size of each department is about the size of a bedroom. Usually, I find nothing good but last weekend I found a diamond in the rough. Black Alfani slacks in ankle length for $ 16. Can’t beat that. I didn’t need a tailor and they look like I got them from Macy’s. I was in and out of TJ Maxx in 15 minutes.
Compared to Century 21, the TJ Maxx racks are messy and has poor variety. But there are good things about TJ Maxx.
1) The guard greets everyone hello and goodbye.
2) It’s CHEAP. You won’t find the expensive couture European brands here.
3) There are no people to dodge because they are all at Century 21.
4) The fitting rooms are always clean and there is no line because everyone is at Century 21.
5) Cute Hello Kitty stuff — different than the cute Hello Kitty stuff at Century 21
So if you didn’t find it at Century 21, head to TJ Maxx. If you don’t feel like dealing with Century 21, then try TJ Maxx first.

TJ Maxx & Marshall’s are 2 of my favorite stores to get clothes.
This TJ Maxx has 3 floors, including the basement which sells home goods. I like the 3 floor layout as the first floor is for checkout and jewelry while the second floor for women’s clothes and 3^rd floor is a share between men’s and women’s. Never paid notice as to where kid’s wear was.
Unlike Marshall’s, this TJ Maxx is fairly neatly organized and doesn’t feel claustrophobic or stuffy. Most things are hung according to size or stacked on shelves. I like the fact that things aren’t messy and scattered all over the floor.
Many brand name items are mainly previous season’s, but prices are always attractive. Definitely a much better store for casual and sporty clothes than Century 21 store a block away.

Just good to have this as another anchor store on 86^th St. in Bay Ridge.
The prices are relatively the same as Century 21, and/​or Burlington Coat factory, for men’s clothing anyway.
Overall, friendly and helpful service.
The escalator to the second floor was out when I was there this past weekend.
