History
Established in 2013.
You may wonder where the word «Traktir» originated from, and what its meaning is. «Traktir is taken from a Latin word referred to as «tractor which simply means — «treating with food». In Tzar times as well as post revolution Russia, «Traktirs» were a common trend. In fact, during medieval times in Europe, traveling folk would often stop by for a meal at various eateries that were of a «Traktir» type. These eateries were very similar in nature to restaurants, but of a lower rank, like inns or Taverns of old.
During the 19th century, «Traktirs» were often arranged along main roads and were commonly referred to as herberges (taken from the German word ‘die Herberge, meaning Inn). Traktirs would even occupy a whole block which consisted of a lower floor, some guestrooms, upper floors, coach houses, and even stables.
Inspired by this knowledge, we decided to link history with our present times and gave our Eateries the same name — «Traktir»
