Uncle Jimmy’s Backyard BBQ

It’s alright, not the best BBQ I’ve had but not the worst either. I got the wings (spicy) and ribs (dry rub) combo. The wings were really good with a buffaloay hint yet not too saucy. I’m not a fan of overly saucy BBQ.
Not too happy with the sides but then again, I’m a creamier-​the-​better-​mashed-​potatoes kinda girl.
The staff was friendly. I ordered take-​out and they let me sit in the restaurant and have a beer while I waited.

Came highly recommended when I mentioned that I wanted to serve bbq to my family for New Year’s. Thought I’d save time by not cooking. I should have cooked. Recommend a trip to Texas to understand brisket.

They served us a corn muffin and English breakfast muffin as a starter for free. I saw the waitress heat it up in the microwave and I assumed it was leftovers so I didn’t bother eating it. I got the wings and ribs combo, with waffle fries. My friend got the classic big burger with waffle fries as well. The burger was as big as her face!
The wings didn’t impress me. They were the small tiny ones and there was 6 pieces –at least they were grilled nicely. The ribs were decent, but the BBQ sauce taste was too overwhelming. For a $ 22 combo, they could’ve given more wings. The waitress was very polite and made sure my friend and I had enough water. My friend said her burger was very juicy and delicious
MUST GET the waffle fries! They were done perfectly and worth the extra $$. They are seasoned and fried to golden brown. It was extremely good.
All in all, very nice atmosphere and good service. Waffle fries are super amazing and I would go back just for them.

My family and I have ordered from Uncle Jimmy’s numerous times and have never been disappointed. We usually always order the rotisserie chicken meal with 4 sides, which is consistently good.
This past Saturday, we decided to head over and eat in the restaurant. It was really clean and the staff was really nice and attentive to us. They brought out warm mini corn muffins and little biscuits with butter before our meal, yum!
I ordered the half chicken with cole slaw, sweet potato fries and roasted vegetables. The chicken was awesome as usual– not greasy at all and such a good flavor. The cole slaw here is my favorite, not dripping with mayo, super crispy and a real nice flavor. The sweet potato fries were nice and crunchy on the outside and full of sweet potato goodness on the inside. The roasted vegetables are really good too– but they don’t always have them on the menu unfortunately. They use zucchini, butternut squash, orange/​yellow/​red/​green peppers and broccoli with a balsamic dressing.
Yea they are a bit expensive– but to be honest, you get what you pay for. It’s good food with good portions. I will definitely be back to eat in again :)

I normally don’t give a review of a place until I’ve been there at least three times however I dined with my mother & wife and we all came to the same conclusions.
The restaurant itself is very clean very nice open spaces easy to locate.
The service was great and waiter was super attentive he knew everything he even made suggestions.
Sangria and the bourbon punch was very very good
The food that was the problem food tasted OK it didn’t have that barbecue tang to it and it wasn’t very warm The portion size was good but it could’ve been a little more flavorful and a little more hot I probably go back by myself but with so many other barbecue places around will probably be a while

I had the ribs it was good meat just fell off the way it’s supposed to. Fries are good and mashpottato good

This place is a ripoff. The two stars are because the ribs were edible. For FOUR DOLLARS AND FIFTY CENTS you get one corn on the cob. One. One 10 cent corn cob. For EIGHT DOLLARS you get 5 balls of terrible Mac and cheese turds. Forty dollars later you want to punch yourself for being the worst decision maker of all time. Just don’t do it. The food is mediocre at best and will cost you a ton, so save yourself from feeling like you threw your money into their ripoff restaurant garbage. Eat literally anywhere but here. How is this place still open?
Reply to your unprofessional answer, also the reason why no one goes to your business– Lies, the corn is not 3 $, where exactly are you making believe you have it up for that price? Your dingy establishment? So you charge extra to put it in some styrofoam when someone gets delivery? Maybe you should instruct your staff to pay attention– there were only FIVE oily turd balls, not six. They tasted like nothing but old oil, if that’s a best seller then I am not surprised by your bad reviews. It was gross. I didn’t have to punch myself, the gross food did it to my stomach all by itself.

Atmosphere: Small spot. Quick, attentive service.
Food: This is why they are getting 2 stars. I got the 6 piece grilled wings, and they were so fatty! I barely got any edible meat off of them, and I can’t eat fried food, so was REALLY excited to finally find a spot that grilled their buff wings instead of deep frying. So disappointed :(Got corn on the cob as a side which was fine. I mean, it’s corn on the cob, can anyone really mess that up?
Drinks: Had the red sangria, which was pretty tasty. Thumbs up on that.

Love this place! The chicken wings are to die for. The mashed potatoes with gravy was very tasty but the cornbread was a bit dry. I drive 30 – 45 minutes to get here for takeout. I have been here several times now and have not been disappointed.

Very good BBQ Ribs. Best in bay ridge. The Mac and cheese just right. And the brisket was very tender.

I can not believe that this place got so many positive reviews. We went this past Sunday and the food was horrible. Not one thing was fresh, everything was reheated. My husband ordered the pulled pork, it looked like something out of a science fiction movie, it was pink… the ribs were hard and did not come off the bone easily. The chicken wings had no taste at all and full of skin not meat. I guess we should have known something was up when there was no one else in the place.

Came in on a Friday night, wasn’t packed… I ate my ass off! The chicken and ribs are yummy!

I just ordered dinner from here tonight and it was very good. My husband and I have ordered from here before and each time, the food has been fantastic and delivered quickly. Tonight, I tried a Po’ Boy Sandwich for the first time and it was delicious! I loved the bread that was used for this sandwich — just right. My husband ordered the Chicken Chipotle Wrap and he loved his sandwich too.
Great food and great service. Glad to have a quality place like this in the neighborhood!

Craving BBQ one day i came in to try to food here,
Wings — good way to start the dinner
Brisket — was okay a bit dry for my taste
Ribs — came off the bone but flavor was not all there
Mac and cheese and the mash potatoes were both good for sides.
overall good dining experience, service was good. Will be back since there are no real other BBQ joints in that area.

The first thing I noticed about this place was how busy it was. The owner and waitresses were all running back and forth to the kitchen. And of course when they took my order, it never came. They didn’t even have it down. But thankfully my friends order the combination of wings and ribs that still filled me up. we order the teriyaki chicken wings and that was really delicious. The ribs were a bit dry to me. We also ordered the fried Mac and cheese ball for appetizer which was aright. If you’re craving for bbq in brooklyn, then this would be the ideal place.

Having spent many summers in South Carolina growing up I know good BBQ.
This place is not too bad if you ask me but certainly not my first pick for BBQ. Theres no other spot like this in Bay Ridge so in that sense theres really no other choice. The food is pretty descent. The chicken is probably the best thing they have. I have tried both the spicy and the grilled and I cant complain but also wasn’t wowed. The mac and cheese isn’t too artificial. Mash potatoes are pretty good. Ive heard the burger is descent as well. I’d recommend this place if your having a crazy craving for BBQ and this is the closet place. I don’t think you’ll be totally disappointed but you wont be to thrilled either.

The owner was pleasant and the service was good.
The food wasn’t great — it wasn’t bad either.
I live so close and hoped this place was going to be out of this world — it was just okay.

Went there on a whim and was not disappointed. The food was fantastic and the service we received from out waitress was even better. Definitely headed back there when I’m in town.

we order from Jimmy’s all the time, Chicken BLT is good, chicken isn’t too dry, the Lentil soup is a great hearty meal in itself. The Cream of Chicken is delicious too. Everything is fresh and made to order. I really am not a fan of BBQ but Jimmy’s is slowly winning me over. we order from them multiple times a week and they are always quick, fresh, hot, and welcoming.

Finally managed to come here and eat… and was NOT DISAPPOINTED! The food was amazing, brisket was so tender and pulled pork was tasty, the corn muffins came out warm and were great. The baked beans had little pieces of meat in it and was soooo good.
Only complaint is i was told that it gets extremely crowded on weekends, so i went on here to Unilocal to make reservation but they didnt have one available until 4:30! (it was 1pm)…we drive by and the place is EMPTY! When we arrived a couple was waiting for take out and another family was finishing their meal. Unilocal fault not UNCLE JIMMYS.
Goood portions were huge and tasty. will def be back. And watress was nice and attentive
