History

Established in 1977.

United Decorators has been family owned and operated for over thirty years. When you call our showroom, you will speak to either Paul or Dalia, his wife. After thirty years of providing quality products and service, United Decorators is proud to introduce the second generation to the family business. Chantel, their daughter and Azi, their son. Chantel is an interior decorator and has been beautifying homes from Brooklyn, to Manhattan, and including Long Island. Azi, is involved in every aspect of the business, hands on, from how draperies are created to installing the most detailed window treatments.

We are one of the few Gallery Dealers that offer a free shop at home service, an important factor when you are deciding whether your furniture is worth the investment of upholstery, or the proper window treatments for your home. We can’t give you the best advice if we don’t know what your home looks like.

I just received my newly covered living room chairs, I love them ! I can’t say enough about United Decorators. The previous reviewers are on the money when they say how professional Paul and his staff are. Paul kept to his estimate, his time line, and it was just a pleasure working with him. I took a chance on using this place after just googling them, but I really lucked out this time. I will definitely refer my friends and family to them, they will not disappoint. I have to say, I very seldom take the time to write a review, but I had to take the time and write this one. I so wished I had found this company sooner, it would have saved me a lot of headaches.
This was an old school customer service experience, that’s the best way I can describe it. It was all about the customer.

I recently moved into a new apartment. I had nothing on my Windows. A friend recommended United. I made an appointment with Dahlia. Went to the shop and she spent a considerable amount of time explaining what would be best for me. After we decided which window treatments were going to work, Paul came and took measurements. Within days my shades and blinds were expertly installed. My cleaning woman broke a shade shortly after. Paul came to see what was wrong. He had to take the shade back to the shop. He fixed it and brought it back the next day. That was over a year ago. My shades are great. I will definitely be back, when I need upholstery or window treatments.

We are very impressed with the craftsmanship of United Decorators. They did a wonderful job reupholstering our Crate&Barrel sofa. The owner Paul was friendly and easy to work with. He even made a second house call after we had second thoughts about our fabric selection. The delivery crew was on-​time and extra cautious carrying the refinished sofa into our apartment.

When I moved this summer I had to get many pieces reupholstered, slipcovered, and redesigned. I also needed window shades for privacy. Having worked with high end name designers over the years, with top end private workrooms, I had a good idea of what I wanted but also didn’t want the many months’ process.
Scanning the Unilocal reviews was helpful, and i reached out to United Decorators. When the owner called me back that day, we discussed my needs and set up an appointment. The owner brought many swatch books and style guides for window shades with him, and we took our time walking through the apartment to talk about the look I was after, which was modern and unfussy. After picking fabrics and styles, we agreed on a price and he took measurements.
A few days later his people picked up the pieces to be reupholstered and took detailed measurements of the items to be slipcovered. Of course I was anxious, as things went so fast compared with the lengthy process I was used to, and I feared that I would get a slapdash job.
Within two weeks all the furniture work was completed and redelivered. And they were beautiful. Seriously beautiful. The only hiccup was that two window shades needed adjusting because the window enclosures were not square. The owner returned the items to the factory so the adjustments could be done right, and they ended up fitting perfectly,
This is a family owned local business, with hands on old fashioned service. And they have a good grasp of modern design. Their workers were clean and professional, and it was clear they had worked for the owner for many years. I would use United Decorators again without hesitation for their quality, service, and pricing.

I worked with Paul from United Decorators to get some beautiful Hunter Douglas blinds for our apartment. Paul is a real professional and was a pleasure to work with. In the end, we ended up spending a lot less money on our blinds than I had anticipated. I was even given a higher price quote from a local hardware store that installs Levoler blinds, which are probably not quite as good quality as Hunter Douglas.
It took 1.5 weeks from the consultation visit to the time our blinds were installed. I will definitely work with United Decorators the next time we need any window treatments! Highly recommended.

This review is long overdue.
I can not rave enough about the quality, service and professionalism of United Decorators.
We found United Decorators on Angie’s List and the Hunter Douglas website when we were looking for window treatments. We stopped in right before closing time on a Sunday three weeks before Thanksgiving 2013. We were hosting Thanksgiving in our newly renovated home and were desperate to get blinds installed in time. Dalia told us she would during the week to schedule an appointment to measure.
By the time we drove home, Paul called us and came on a Sunday night to measure. He wasn’t sure that Hunter Douglas could deliver in time, but we ordered anyway since (a) we needed blinds regardless, (b) both Dalia and Paul offered expert/​impeccable interior design advice, and © they gave us a fantastic deal on top of the rebate we received from Hunter Douglas.
Type-​A person that I am, I needlessly called several times to follow up, and each call was returned promptly.
The week before Thanksgiving, the blinds were installed on all 3 windows, all in less than a half hour. We were pleasantly surprised and amazed! Could not believe what a difference proper window coverings made. We have received so many compliments on them.
Looking forward to the next project with United Decorators!

I was very impressed with the level of professionalism, punctuality, and quality of the work done. I spent weeks looking for uphulstorers in my area, and they just all seem to be out of business! I spoke with Paul, and the greatest thing is that he showed up on time for the consultation, and the delivery of the finished product was in the morning, just as promised, and the chairs look fantastic. I’m used to expecting to wait all day for a furniture delivery, so it was like a breath of fresh air.
