«You have insurance? Great, let’s put it to use!» That’s an actual quote from a doctor at this ER recently. He said it in jest, but the sentiment is all too real. NYU Langone is first and foremost a money-​making machine. They run an OK emergency room, but their primary concern seems to be running up the bill. My family has experienced this twice: my wife went in with abdominal pain, which, over the course of several hours they mis-​diagnosed and mis-​treated her, finally admitted that they didn’t know the cause and transferred her to the main hospital in Manhattan (which is its own horror show). The second happened when I went I with a minor concern about a condition I’ve had for a while. Though the intern who treated me initially thought it wasn’t a very big deal, the doctor in charge insisted that they run an entire battery of tests — the kind you might undergo in a general workup. When I asked her why she thought they were needed (we knew the exact cause of my symptoms — something I had ingested) she replied: «well, *I* don’t know the cause». I walked out. I just got the bill: for my approximately 40 minutes in the ER, they billed over $ 4,000. That’s over $ 100 PER MINUTE, during which they did nothing but observe me. I’m saddened that where we once had a decent (not perfect, certainly, but decent) hospital in the neighborhood and now we have a branch of a giant franchise that exists solely to perpetuate itself.

Clean facility. Great staff all around– helpful, kind, efficient, and friendly. One of the best ER experiences in New York.

I am new to Brookyn and was my first time coming to their emergency room. From the moment I walked in, everyone was very attentive and willing to get me admitted as quick as possible. The triage was quick, then sent into ER, and I was immediately seen by nurses and taken care of. The doctors were great and helped me. I also enjoyed the fact that I received a phone call from the nurse this week to check and see if I was feeling better.

This hospital has been taken over by NYU. Rushed myself to the emergency room, at first I thought it was closed because I did not see anyone in the waiting area. Crawled right into triage and shortly after was taken into patient treatment area. Was seen immediately by a PA and a few minutes later by a DR. Nursing staff was attentive and kind as the ultrasound tech. Some construction work towards the entrance but the treatment areas were also renovated and all exceptionally clean. Had 2 IVs/​pain medication/​ultrasounds with all my lab work and results all within 4 hours. Considering the other hospitals in Brooklyn I would certainly recommend coming here.

I went on a Saturday for an ultrasound because my doctor was concern about the way my injury was turning out.
They charged me $ 100 copay just to tell me «the machine won’t be working until Monday. Come back on Monday».
Since I couldn’t wait until then, I had to go to another hospital in Manhattan.
This was the most expensive and unhelpful answer I’ve ever got in my life.
The personal were friendly at least it just doesn’t make sense to pay for a service I didn’t receive. Maybe because I’m european and I’m not used to it.
«You may say I’m a dreameeeerr… but I’m not the only one. I hope someday you’ll join us. And the world will live as one.»

Jokes. Avoid at all cost. Facility recently went bankrupt and they only have an ER with very little services. If you have anything more than a flu, don’t waste your time going here. They will just tell you that they don’t have the infrastructure to help you and try to transfer you to via ambulance to their Flatbush affiliate.

Don’t go here you will die they don’t know what they are doing you go in looking for help and you will be waiting for ever and when they do see you then they won’t know nothing

One day, I had to go to emergency room.
Off course after 3 hours of suffering and waiting, I got to see one nurse, I never saw a doctor. She did an urinal test, and gave me a prescription. The bill was about $ 900. $ 900 for this? Although I didn’t even get to see a doctor? They never sent me a result of the test.
And the worst part is, they kept me sending a wrong bill. The bill said I saw a doctor twice, so there were 2 of $ 275 with a different invoice number. I called them, they sent me a wrong bill again. My insurance company called them twice, they still sent me a wrong bill. I called them again, and the rep says «My manager will call you» No one called me back.
When I was waiting for three hours, a woman came in with a leg pain. She claimed she has 5 kids, and she didn’t go through a register to give her information, they treated her, and she left. It’s not fair. So I pay $ 900, and she paid nothing? Through dealing with their billing department while they sent me wrong bills, it seemed like there was something really wrong with this place.

Hospital is in very bad shape.

LICH is a great hospital. Again, doctors are part of the SUNY system-haven’t always been, but recently acquired-​and the hospital itself is in the charming area of Brooklyn Heights. The physicians are dedicated, and people are friendly. All my patients who get care here love it.

This hospital is an embarrassment to the medical community and its patients! Appalled to say the absolute very least.

Nearly a decade ago, I was a patient. My memories of that experience were always positive. I always said if I were ever in need, I’d go there for treatment and nowhere else.
These days, it seems as if my loved ones frequents this hospital for their medical needs. It was troubling to hear of the hospital’s financial difficulties, but I’m glad SUNY Downstate Medical Center came to the rescue and merged.
I stopped by to visit a friend. The hospital staff, from the security guard to the nurses, was pretty nice and friendly. Great views of the Brooklyn Navy Yard and Manhattan, if you’re on one of the top floors. I always hear about hospital food, so I snuck a few bites lol. Let’s just say my Caribbean roots were crying out for some salt, pepper, FLAVOR! Dry stew chicken, bland string beans. I hate pudding so forget about tapioca and gluten free products. Yikes! Yes I know, the food has to be cooked especially for the patients who vary in illness, age, and dietary restrictions.
Take-​out delivery is an option, people, use it. I was surprised about the Taco Bell and Au Bön Pain restaurants on the ground floor. Where’s Subway?

My mom had came here today to have an out patient procedure done today.
The hospital staff were very friendly and helpful, and took great care of my mom.
The procedure and recovery time after was a little lengthy, so I decided to walk around the area to get something to eat. The hospital had assigned a nurse Aida to care for my mother. Aida was the best, she called me periodically to keep me updated on my mother and to let me know when let me know when my mom was done and moved to recovery room. I was allowed to stay with my mom while she was in recovery even though there was a 5 minute time limit. Aida took great care of my mom and I thank her for that, she even brought my mom a plate of food. The food didn’t look to appealing but when you haven’t eaten in over 12 hours just about anything looks good.

The absolute worst hospital I’ve ever visited. Thankfully, I wasn’t a patient there. Rundown, dirty and ghetto. Horrible customer service from the staff. You could have cut the attitudes in there with a knife! Bunch of unhappy campers. If you need a hospital, run from this one like the wind. If you have no other choice, I pity you. good luck!

Fast Track ER is the best I have been in. Got that tip from a friend that works EMS and I was out in under 3 hours including x-​rays for sprained ankle and bruised ribs.
The staff was professional and courteous. Plus free wi-​fi!

This hospital is in my neighborhood and I have been going forever. So I can say how the quality of care has gone way down. One instance my father had major surgery was in his room recovering and the nurse standing at the room entrance was SCREAMING down the hall at another nurse. When I asked her to please lower her voice she said Oops sorry.
My mother went her for a procedure we were stuck in the waiting room full of loud children for 4 hours before they started the procedure. Half way through it she felt faint and they are like what is wrong with her I am like hmm I don’t know she has been her for 5 hours without eating and she’s diabetic. If you are stuck in a waiting room for children they play children’s TV shows Sponge Bob has never been more annoying.
I can’t even express the annoyance at this hospital. If you happen to go to the emergency room and are out in less than 6 hours it is a miracle. Some of the nurses act like they are doing you a favor by taking care of you. I was just there yesterday with my sister and the doctor was on google on her computer. Mind you we are waiting to get out of there so we can fill a prescription. Please don’t hurry I am sure whatever she was looking at on google was important. Bottom line don’t go to this hospital if it can be avoided. Not only do you wait forever but the general hospital is filthy. When my dad was there one of the janitors told me they cut the staff so certain floors only get cleaned every couple of days. STAY AWAY!

As a recent patient of the cardiac unit of Long Island College Hospital I have to say, I don’t care if it’s an older hospital at all! The Dr’s and nursing staff were attentive, so caring and beyond excellent in their field. I felt like I was their only patient (and believe me, I wasn’t). They were busy with many things but always made sure I was comfortable and cared for… and fed :). Sometimes there were even funny! As if they ENJOYED what they are doing!
I enjoy the fact I can walk there from my home and that many of the Dr’s offices are also in the same facility. Some parts of this hospital remind me of «the good old days» while others obviously have the latest technology.
Seriously, I thank God for places like there where people are cared for on an individual and personal level. If I asked questions there were always answered with a smile. The staff made me feel special, positive and comfortable. I was checked in quickly, cared for and released without a glitch.
Of course I would highly recommend this hospital. If enough people go there perhaps the updating and remodeling etc will happen more quickly. But even if it never did, I will always go there if I have a need!

Don’t stay over night post-​op if you have any choice!
it was hostile «do-​it-​yourself» post op, completely unattended except by overhead intercom, and night nurses were a nightmare straight out of a movie.
I love my doctor, but I shouldn’t need a body guard in a hospital.
(and ps — if you do stay, bring ear plugs!)

Unless you’re on the verge of death I urge you to stay away from this hospital. There was no one in the waiting area for the emergency room and for some odd reason it took them 3 hours to even look in our direction. When my boyfriends skull was bleeding and he was vomitting all over the floor i decided it was time to pay the nurses a visit and I stormed into the ER and asked what the hell was taking so long. I actually was nice about it and they all looked at me like i had 4 heads. «THE DOCTOR WILL BE WITH YOU AS SOON AS HE CAN!!!»
Bitch! Don’t yell at me! Are you crazy?! Don’t you know im Elite?!
After 4 hours and $ 800 worth of stitches we were back on our way home. There’s no way it should have taken 4 hours and all that attitude… at 3am.
