Wag Club

Marta has been wonderful with my two year old Shih Tzu, Wally. He can be very uncooperative when it comes to having his nails clipped or his ears cleaned, but she’s been great with him, and he always looks fantastic when I pick him up. I’ve found that I panic when Marta’s on vacation because she’s the only groomer that I trust with my little guy.

I recently attended the Wine N’ Puppies group class with my 10w old puppy Lola, and I could not be more impressed with Wag Club. Lola and I attended another puppy socialization class (to remain nameless), which was in a disappointing dirty facility. Moreover, the other class did not require any proof of age-​appropriate vaccinations. John, the owner of Wag Club, is incredibly diligent about making sure that any dog to come through the door is healthy and has the appropriate shots, something that is extra important when bringing young puppies to socialize. The Wag Club facility is very clean without smelling like they just nuked the place with bleach.
Moreover, Wag Club works closing with Robert from DogboyNYC, a fantastic trainer, who leads the puppy group (as well as other classes).
My only regret is that I live a little too far from Wag Club for it to be a feasible doggy daycare option. Lola and I will definitely be back for training and grooming, though.

The Wag Club staff – John, Molly and all the great workers-​helped us with the difficult transition of helping our rescue pup (15 mo old) manage his separation anxiety. Griff attends wag club 4 mornings a week and it breaks up his day so he is only home alone for a few hours a day. The staff are kind and attentive and Griff loves going… And they helped ease our anxiety and we are so grateful for the attention and extra care.

Everytime i pass by my pups stop at the door of Wag Club and insist on going inside. It’s like their ‘candy store’. Wag Club walks my dogs daily. I love the staff here — Molly, LaLa, James, Jen, John and more (sorry i cant recall everyones names). They are all kind, patient and genuinely love animals. They are also very accommodating when i get stuck working late and need a walk/​feed. I enjoying reading the notes left each day on how my pups did on their lunchtime walk. Trust me, not all places are like this. Wag Club is the exception for sure. Knowing my pups are in their care gives me peace if mind. I could not exist in the City without Wag Club.

I cannot say enough good things about Wag Club. Our beagle, Ellie, went to daycare at Wag for over 2 years before we sadly moved out of the neighborhood. Ellie absolutely loved going to Wag. When we passed by the door on walks she would paw to go inside, and she was thrilled every day when she arrived for daycare. The staff at Wag is the BEST. They absolutely love the dogs and treat every dog like he/​she is one of their own. They are also extremely responsive and worked with us to find a schedule that fit our needs. Ellie can be hesitant with strangers, but she instantly warmed up to the Wag Club staff. We are so sad to no longer be able to send Ellie to the best daycare in NYC. Any dog would be lucky to join the Wag Club family!

The Wag Club facility is fantastic — very clean, lots of space, natural light, and playground-​like structures for the dogs to enjoy. But when it comes to the staff, I have to say Proceed With Caution. The Wag Club requires new customers to bring their dogs in for a temperament test, which is of course an excellent idea. Given my experience at the Wag Club, however, I would suggest you bring your dog in for a «test» at least twice, maybe even 3 times in order for the entire staff to be exposed to him/​her. Based on these my observations, I can only infer that the Wag Club has a preferred «type». If you fit that type, good for you. My puppy and I apparently did not.
My puppy spent about 2 weeks total at the Wag Club, when I was starting a new job. At first we were greeted very warmly but I noticed as time went on and the staff changed from day-​to-​day, the reception changed. I encountered a very nice gentleman who appeared to be the owner/​manager and 4 different staffers, who worked in pairs. Two of them — a woman and a man — greeted my puppy warmly each day, happily gave me reports on how he got along with others and generally seemed to enjoy his puppy energy. The other two were a completely different story: one woman was so sullen she was barely capable of speech, nevermind welcome us with a smile, and the other, when I asked how my puppy’s day had gone, had a new complaint each time. A puppy who’s very energetic! Oh the horror!
One day I arrived to see my puppy in timeout, behind a gate but able to see the others play. When I questioned this, the woman again complained about his energy level and suggested I consider another facility, one more suitable for «larger dogs» because the Wag Club is really more for smaller dogs. As I looked over her shoulder at the giant poodle, yellow retriever and pitbull romping in the playroom, I decided I would never return. It breaks my heart when I wonder how much time my puppy spent isolated because this woman couldn’t handle his… puppyness. As for his size, he weighs 20 pounds and looked to be in the middle of the range of dogs I saw there.
My puppy now attends a different day care and though it is not as beautiful a facility as the Wag Club, the staff treat him like one of the family.

Our little Buddha has been going to Wag Club for about a year. We moved to NYC from LA, and Buddha had a hard time adjusting to the city life. Wag Club became his sanctuary. He loves going and we see the excitement everyday. John and team are amazing. Over the year, I have emailed and called to check in, everyone is always so nice and responsive. They all know Buddha, who he plays with, who he doesn’t play with (doggie daycare soap opera), and when he is being grumpy. The team really loves Buddha, and Buddha loves everyone there. We have used Wag Club for daycare, boarding and grooming, every service is perfect. The best part is that Buddha comes home happy and tired. Wag Club is the best!

I’ve had my dog walked and groomed at Wag Club many times, each experience is better than the last. I love the notes John and his team leave for us to let us know how Harrison behaved on his walk. Very friendly and professional staff, we wouldn’t trust anyone else to take care of our pup!

My Gurgi has now been to Wag Club a few times, and once for a long 9 days. He had so much fun, we now refer to Wag Club in my home fondly as «camp.» My little furry friend came home a much better socialized version of himself. He was happy, and healthy… and I even get updates when I’m gone. What more could I ask for? Also, the staff is first class… they really care about their dog friends, and it shows. Thanks again for the great service!

I have a new 4 month old pup who’s super energetic and sweet, but needed that extra supervision twice a week when I’m at work. This prompted a search for a trustworthy, clean, caring daycare center. My dog trainer mentioned wag club and surely I couldn’t be more pleased. The staff is very on point with getting to know each dog, their habits, how many times they’ve done #2 throughout the day, etc. They also never hesitate to fill me in if I prompt an update of my puppy’s progress. Dogs will be walked whenever possible outside near the beautiful brooklyn bridge park. It’s only more awesome that there’s a dogpark right in front of their location. Dogs undergo a «temper» test, which is all new to me, but much appreciated to make sure your pet assimilates well into the environment. Its also a plus that they don’t take dogs over 35 lbs since I have a small breed pup. I haven’t used their grooming services just yet, but plan to in the future since it seems convenient. Most importantly my pup loves the staff and coming here. I peek in time to time and he’s always out and about with the pack. Overall, my first try with a daycare and its been great!

My guy is 9 months old, very submissive and shy. Each and everytime I leave him at Wag they take extra care to keep an eye on him. Opal is amazing and always provides really really detailed updates… In fact, I get an update from whoever is on shift! They are patient with my guy who tends to want to be around them more than the other dogs! It’s been a fantastic experience! Highly recommended! Don’t just take my word for it, all of the fantastic reviews speak for themselves.

LOVE Wag Club. Marta is an excellent groomer. She hand stripped my Border Terrier and did an excellent job. The place is clean, professional, friendly and just plain great. I have not left my pup there for the day but I plan to do so soon. SO HAPPY to have Wag Club in the area.

My dog loves it here. Even more importantly, I can see how much they love my dog.

I brought my little chihuahua mix here for his first grooming experience ever. I was a little nervous as he’s quite skittish, but It couldn’t of been a more painless and pleasant experience. He seemed totally relaxed when I came to pick him up (and smelled really good too!). I appreciate that they listened to my concerns and the groomer did exactly what we had discussed. The staff was excellent, helpful, and very friendly. And the free dog food samples were a nice touch! I’ll definitely be bringing my little guy back!

What a great spot. John and co really love dogs, give their canine wards plenty of personal attention and run a clean doggy daycare. My pup comes home from Wag tired and happy.

I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this place before because they are the best around. John, the owner, is extremely friendly and knowledgable. Their prices are fantastic, especially for a boutique. The place is very warm and inviting and they constantly update their Facebook so mom and dad know what their baby is up to. They also partner with Dog Boy for training. I know it’s a silly name but he really is the best trainer I’ve ever used. Overall a wonderful addition to the neighborhood.

My Bedlington Terrier, Lewis, got the best grooming job ever! Marta the groomer is a magician. Most groomers have no clue as to how to cut a Bedlington. Marta was so excited to groom him and knew exactly how to do it! I will never go anywhere else. While I was in the store all the dogs in daycare were having a blast. The staff here is so much a cut above other places. Large dog to human ratio. I can’t wait to try the daycare.

Dog sat for a friend in Brooklyn. As instructed (oh and those dog owners can leave such detailed instructions lol), dropped off the lil pooch at Wag Club for some grooming and social time.
Staff looked genuinely friendly and like what they do. The owner, John, was there and described the bathing/​grooming process. He even described this blueberry facial that sounded decadent. Started thinking he was trying to sell me into something extra… boy, was I wrong! it was all part of the bath/​groom already.
Front store looked like a high end doggy «Whole Foods». The play area is huge (2−3x the size of my apartment) with rubber floors. And by the time I picked up the lil pooch, he looked and smelled great with a hint of that blueberry facial lingering.

Our 4 month old puppy absolutely loves being at Wag Club with its clean, paw-​friendly floors and its wonderful staff.
The facilities and shop are well considered. The open space lets dog owners see what’s going on inside without disturbing the dog play.
The fact that its daycare is for dogs under 35 lbs means I don’t have to worry about my little pup getting caught between larger, over-​enthusiastic dogs.
We also tried out Wag Club’s grooming service. The groomer did a great job with our puppy, she was both gentle and understanding.
Overall, a great addition to the neighbourhood!
