Well, I thought that management had wised up and gotten rid of the drug addict, violent, sexually aggressive panhandler, but HE’S BACK! Apparently he was in prison for a few months. I was there this morning, and saw him accost 2 elderly women, and rub the front his pants when he saw a teenage girl get out of a car. Management, as usual, looks the other way and suggests that the CUSTOMERS police the parking lot! No wonder Waldbaum’s parent company is going out of business. Hopefully whoever takes over will chase this disgusting bum away for good. Until then, please do not let your wives, mothers, sisters, daughters, or female friends shop at the Sheepshead Bay Waldbaums. It is a rape waiting to happen. Seriously.

Usually out of all the checkout lanes only 2 maybe 3 lanes available for checkout, sales could be better but there rotisserie chicken is delicious

unlike Martin B. I shop here quite often, especially on tuesdays when seniors get 5% off their total bill(including sale items). Martin’s complaint about ice and frost on Ben&Jerrys is an old story. for years, many brands of ice cream were covered with«snow» and ice, until they finally upgraded the freezers. as for the deli counter, I haven’t bought anything there in years, due to outrageous prices and a deserted look to the whole place. But this«super» market is anything but super. For years there were no wagons or old and rusty wagons. They tried having wagons with quarter inserts but gave up on that. The parking lot is large but unpaved for decades. Cars park close to delivery trucks for the store. A homeless man«lives» in front of the exit and accosts you when you exit the store with offers of assistance. Anyone who would let him touch their food should be committed. But nothing is done about him. He is almost always there. Inside the store, the meat section is well-stocked and very good. Australian lamb is lower than other supermarkets in the area, especially on sale. But there is no fish store and the packaged fish just lays there. I rarely see anyone go over to look at it. Now, most of the people who work there are decent, hard-working people. They don’t have a chip on their shoulders. The lady in customer service is polite and patient and now has a new cubicle in which to sit. But there are some cashiers, usually very young, who are nasty and scowl at anyone who doesn’t move fast enough for them. One such person complained to me about her«line» as if it were my fault. she refused to help me but told me to hurry up. there are cashiers like that in all supermarkets and they need attitude therapy. Mike the manager apologized for her, and said he would speak to her. I will not stop going to this store because of one nasty individual, especially when there are others there who are helpful and kind. But overall, this store is greatly in need of renovation(dump would be accurate). Produce prices are for millionaires, as are milk prices. Key Food charges $ 1.09 for a quart of milk and this store charges $ 1.69. Why??? If there wasn’t a good variety of sale items each week, it would be impossible to shop at this store. The cashiers acknowledge this when they proudly announce to you how much you“saved” when your order is paid for. And when you look at the receipt and see what the full cost of your purchases was, there is a «sticker shock» experience. HOWEVER, THEUSGOVERNMENTSAYSTHEREISNOINFLATION. BUTWHEN A CANOFREGULARCAMPBELLSSOUP(THEPLAINCHEAPONE) COSTS $ 2.29, YOUKNOW, THEONEYOUADDYOUROWNWATERTO, WHATISTHAT? A BARGAIN!!! this store is in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, on Ocean Ave. and was flooded by Sandy. However, it has not been improved upon at all, since the storm, and for years they put a large poster on the store window that said, WEARENOTCLOSING. That was because it was so empty when a new stop and Shop opened up close by. But their prices are even higher.

Waldbaum’s is usually a bit higher priced than the Stop And Shop nearby — but it is a convenient location and that makes this an OK supermarket when in a pinch. Lines are also usually short.

first off for those of you who don’t know Pathmark, Waldbaums, foodbasic’s, food emporium, and A&P, they’re all the same owners, is it’s kind of ironic that on the coney island peninsula all the major supermarkets are owned by the same chain. The Waldbaums is the only one in the area, there use to be one on Neptune avenue but it closed about 10 years ago, of the three in the area(foodbasic’s, Pathmark and Waldbaums) it has the best selection of beef, it generally is cheaper then either pathmark for produce, but not as cheap as foodbasic’s, there’s no fresh fish department, but it does have the best deli of the three in the area, it also has a pretty large kosher selection, On the whole it has the same stock as the other two you have to compare the prices between the three and see who’s selling what, it’s open 7 am to 10 pm 7 days a week, My biggest complaint is there’s little if no policing by the store of the handicapped parking spaces, and they are frequently filled with people who are not handicapped, they also have the same problem as the pathmark’s in that the recycling machines are always occupied by crazies. very handicapped accessible and generally nicer staff then the two pathmarks
