Yeah Dawg Vegan

Expensive for a non-​meat weener! ($ 8)
But, I like the concept. I also still prefer a Nathan’s or a Sabrett.
Why? Because the –not so healthy– version taste so much better.
But, I like organic, non-​gluten, soy free and plant based foods. I got a Classic Yeah Dawg and topped with some ingredients that were generic supermarket bought like chips, slices of pickle, etc…
The Yeah Dawg was good but not great. Eating it reminded me a little like what it would be if I were to eat Play-​Doh, sort of but not really, it gave me that thought. The veggies, flour and flavoring in the mix gave me that impression.
Why? Because with the flour, veggie and flavor mix made the weener dense. In addition I didn’t like the idea it tasted like carb (because I could taste flour in the weener) in a carb (bun), vegetable side taste with a little after taste, it taste nothing like a meat hot dog.
But, I like the concept. I also still prefer a Nathan’s or a Sabrett.

I first heard of Yeah Dawg at the vegetarian food festival, but didn’t end up trying them until I went to the reopening of Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary this past weekend. My fiancé ordered their New Yorker dog, and I tried some. It tasted great, I would’ve liked a firmer texture and if it was easier to pick up, but it was still tasty. I would’ve preferred a top sliced bun for what it cost. My fiancé said if he wanted a hotdog it’d satisfy his craving but did agree that it was pretty expensive.
The kale caesar that came with it was also tasty, but I’d rather it have been baby spinach or some other leafy green, only because kale gives me expensive health food hipster vibes. As much as I want to see vegan businesses grow in NYC, I don’t want them gentrifying neighborhoods and making everything more expensive at the same time.

I had one of their loaded dogs with a side of kale caesar at the vegan shop-​up and it was amazing! It tasted great, even though it was hidden under a ton of toppings, and definitely filled me up! Really glad that I got to try it!

On a cold, blustery morning at the Vegan Shop-​Up (only the greatest pop-​up market in all of the land), I found myself rather hangry and craving something savory. The long line for a certain food truck was sure to leave me in tears, so in a state of complete and utter hanic (hunger + panic), I decided to try a vegan hot dog from Yeah Dawg. And thus, a love affair began…
These hot dawgs are AMAZEBALLS! They’re made with seeds, root veggies and vegan/​GF flours – no soy or fake meat, here, people! I order mine loaded with pickled veggies, COCONUT BACON, and whatever else they’re serving on any given day (to include their delectable kale salad). The very friendly women serve these babies hot off the grill and offer GF wraps for those of us who avoid wheat (they have vegan buns for the rest of you).
I’m not entirely sure where you can get these dawgs outside of the Vegan Shop-​Up, but if you like food that is sure to deliver on the mouthgasms… then it’s definitely worth looking into!

I tried Yeah Dawg for the first time at the vegan shop up at the Pine Box Rock Shop, but I don’t make a habit of trekking out to Brooklyn too often. Imagine my surprise when I saw them at a monthly market in Jersey City one day! I was absolutely stoked! And now I saw they are coming to one of our famers markets (praying this will be a weekly occurrence from now on. please, please, pretty pleeeasee).
These veggie hot dogs are absolutely amazing. The most amazing part is they are soy free and (without the bun) gluten free. They are made out of mostly root vegetables, like beets and carrots, seeds, and gluten free flours. Whatever she does with these ingredients to transform them into vegan hot dogs is absolute magic. I’m convinced. And just get all the toppings – all of them. They’re off the hook. Do it! You won’t be disappointed.

I’ve had Yeah Dawg every time I’ve been to the vegan shop up at the Pine Box Rock Shop. I’ve also had my friends (meat eaters) try it and they all thought it was great. I plan on getting it every shop up in the future as well. I got the side of Kale Caesar Salad once. I will forego that in the future. Other than that, the topping choices are original and delicious. Here’s to hoping they get a retail location some time soon!

Yes! We tried Yeah Dawg Vegan for the first time yesterday at LIC Flea. Wow. Let’s just say that we’ll be looking out for where Yeah Dawg pops up next. The dawg was delicious and there was a fantastic array of amazing toppings from which to choose. We piled it high with homemade pickles, coconut «bacon», mustard, and more. We tasted every little bit carefully — as we do — and then went to happytown. It was yum. Serious yum. We suggest you find Yeah Dawg and try it yourself. We’re hooked.

YES! Finally a vegan hot dog that does not taste like rubber! When I heard that at vegan shop-​up there was a new vegan hot dog that is soy and gluten free, I was super excited– but this hot dog far exceeded my expectations. I got the «loaded dawg platter,» which includes several home pickled toppings, and a raw kale ceasar salad. It came freshly grilled, with pickled onions, pickled mango, plus pickled jalapenos and vegan mushroom bacon bits. The kale ceasar is probably the best I’ve had, and I’ve had a lot of kale salad in my day. However, the biggest difference between this dog and other vegan hot dogs I’ve had is that this one actually had me feeling great and full of energy after eating it. I’m used to places serving Tofurky dogs or those vegan field roast ones, which are super processed soy and wheat-​gluten based, and tie my stomach in knots, leaving me feeling tired and groggy. but this dawg was the first one that actually made me feel full, satisfied, and energized. So, five stars for taste and health. I will certainly be back next vegan shop-​up, for another loaded platter!
