History

Established in 1952.

Our History

Hullabaloo House was built in 1952 by my Uncle Waylon Hughes. He was a well respected home builder in the Bryan, College Station area. People would wait 18 months for Uncle Waylon to build their houses because they knew it would be well built. They purchased this lot in Ehlinger Place, one of the few new neighborhoods at the time, and built this home.

Our roots run deep here and we appreciate many wonderful things about the area’s rich history. We love the downtown Bryan area, the Bryan Historic area, Texas A&M and the rich history of traditions it embodies. We love driving around town and seeing places that remind us of people and life of the past. And we love the idea of sharing our house with you. We hope it will be a blessing to you as you come to our area to participate or spectate at events; to visit with family or friends; or any of the hundred other reasons you might be coming to our area.

So Howdy! And Welcome to Hullabaloo House

Meet the Business Owner

Arthur and Victoria H.

Business Owner

After graduating from Texas AandM in 1967 with an architectural construction degree, my wife, Victoria Dandurant Hughes, and I along with our first son, Charles, left to work in the northeast. In 1995, after living in New Jersey, Virginia, Florida, Colorado and Houston and welcoming 2 more children into our family, Grady and Lisa, we moved back to Bryan to be close to family. We loved the 40 years of changes and improvements in the Bryan College Station area. We had so many fond memories of growing up in the area and wanted to get involved in giving back to the community that had been such a positive influence on our lives. I continued my career in construction management and real estate and Victoria began a career in accounting at Texas AandM. Our roots run deep here and we appreciate many wonderful things about the area’s rich history. We hope our home will be a blessing to you as you come to our area to participate or spectate at local events.
