History

Established in 2015.

Coffee seems to fuel dissent. The French and American Revolutions were planned, in part, in the dark corners of coffeehouses. In Germany, a fearful Frederick the Great demanded that Germans switch from coffee to beer to quell revolution. He sent soldiers sniffing through the streets, searching for the slightest whiff of the illegal bean. In England, King Charles II issued an order to shut down all coffeehouses after he traced some clever but seditious poetry to them. But coffee managed to take its place in the center of culture and continues to do so. Perhaps with enough coffee, we can change the world… but Speakeasy. Big Brother may be watching.

Business Owner

Michael, with his wife Amanda, is the owner of Mugs Café in the Argenta Arts District of North Little Rock and Speakeasy Coffee Bar in Bryant. He and his wife have been married since 2003 and have two children — Austin and Max. Michael is an entrepreneur and a lover of coffee.
