These gentlemen are truly amazing. I took my 2002 MINI Cooper for a second opinion and to possibly do needed repairs. They called me to let me know that I needed a clutch, flywheel, and transmission. The MINI Dealership told me the same. According to MINI, this would cost me around $ 5,700. I didn’t get a price from J & J, because they needed to check with their transmission person. In the meantime, I agreed that it was time to buy a new car. So I picked up my car and my bill was only $ 50. MINI charged me $ 268 for the same thing. I also later discovered that they must have fixed my creaky driver’s door, which was difficult to pull closed, because it works like new. I spoke with Jay and Bill on different occasions, and they took their time to explain and discuss everything with me. The next day after I picked my car up, Jay called me to tell me I had left my notes on his desk — notes about different cars I was considering buying. He asked if I minded if he shared some advice with me, which I was very happy to say yes to. He also gave me some helpful advice about how to negotiate the price and how to deal with possible trade-​in. He explained pros and cons of the various cars I was considering. He only made $ 50 from doing the diagnostics on my car, yet really went out of his way to help me. Jay even asked me to let him know what car I eventually end up buying. I really believe he was sincere! Such knowledgable, helpful, kind people there. Now I know why I couldn’t get an appointment for a week! They are the very best! What a find!

I have been using J&J to service my cars for many years, including a Mini, a Subaru and a BMW. They have done everything from simple inspections and maintenance, to bigger projects like installing brake and clutch upgrades, to figuring out crazy nagging problems. In all cases, their work has been professional, reliable, and reasonably priced. Jay and his crew are true CAR GUYS who really know their stuff, as evidenced by the multiple Ferarris, odd-​ball Porches, and obscure old exotics you might find in the shop on any given day. I can’t recommend them highly enough!

Terrific. Sent a car in for an annual inspection, and they located a blown shock absorber that was missed by a mechanic in another state. While I was sad to spend further money on repairs, I was impressed with the thoroughness. The mechanic showed me the exact repairs to be done while the car was up on a lift, and then ensured that I understood what the issue was.
Also, fixed a number of buttons on my dashboard (headlights, odometer reset, etc.) that were no longer operational, just for the cost of labor. All done in a few hours.
There was also a beast of a new blue Lamborghini in the shop for repair. If they’re good enough for that car, they’re good enough for yours!
Highly recommended.

I can’t recommend J&J enough. They are knowledgable, honest, and, quite frankly, passionate about cars. I have taken my e46 m3 to several other shops in the area, but there really isn’t any comparison. Their mechanical expertise is superior; their customer service is spot on, and their pricing is far better than their competitors. I baby my car, and I’ve been searching around for the «right» shop for years. I wish I had come to J&J sooner. It’s a feat when you find a mechanic you can trust and rely on. Go to J & J once, and you won’t go anywhere else.

These guys are the real deal. You will find race cars next to Volvos every day. they know it all. I’ve taken my cars there for 20 years. Trustworthy and superior customer service. You found the right place!

I just used J&J Motor for work on my 1997 BMW 540i. They fixed a large oil leak, and did some other work. They came in under their estimate, gave me the car back cleaner than I left it, and seem to have fixed the problems that I brought it in for. They were very polite and professional. After having a bad experience with a different, highly regarded BMW repair place, it was a pleasure to deal with people that obviously know what they’re doing, and know how to treat a customer. I will definitely be back for service in the future.

Went to J&J for annual inspection because they were close although more expensive than many other places. Got the report back and was told that I needed new front tires, a new bulb for license plate light and a new rear window wiper. I got a quote from J&J on the tires and they were substantially more expensive than where I normally buy tires. And balancing was extra. I knew I needed new front tires and had previously called my usually place to get a quote and so I told J&J I would be getting the tires from my normal place. They said they would hold my inspection stickers until I had the tires.
I got the tires replaced the and the service center said I did NOT need a new rear wiper and that they would replace the license plate bulb for free. I returned to J&J and said I had replaced the tires and the bulb, but that I did not believe I needed a new wiper blade. They said I did, then they started rechecking the car and miraculously found two new bulbs that needed replacement that were not found to be defective during the original inspection. I had no choice but to proceed since I would otherwise not get the inspection sticker. It took them less than 5 minutes to replace the wiper and both bulbs yet they charged me $ 22 in labor, plus $ 15 for the wiper blade and $ 14 for the bulbs. Another $ 51.
I feel I was ripped off, and cannot recommend J&J Motors as a result. Not only are their prices high compared to others, I believe they took advantage of me with the wiper and bulbs. I am giving them a one star.
!1/​16/​12 Update. Proprietor of J&J called me and expressed concern with my review. He felt that the service was performed in a professional manner and to the letter of the PA Inspection Law. We discussed why I felt the way I did when I wrote the review. Since I had been displeased with the service the proprietor offered to provide a refund, In light of the proprietor’s desire to address my concerns I am increasing my rating to three stars.

They are the best at what they do! I have been taking my cars there for over 10 years and the service is superior, no comparison. They know what they are doing and they are super honest.

I think these guys are great! I would highly recommend this garage to anyone that can make it here. They are not trying to take advantage of their customers and actually go out of their way to be helpful. I am really impressed with this place for my VW Passat.
In fact, they have gone out of there way to help me out when they didn’t need to. I think this is one of the most honest garages I have ever gone to. I will be sad to move away.

J&J Motors are my automotive heros. It all started when I lived around the corner a few years ago. My car at the time, a Mazda MX-​3, developed a fast oil leak. I found J&J on
and thought the reviews there made them an obvious choice. They fixed it up in no time and the rates were very reasonable.
Since then I’ve had them work on 3 other cars (two Volkswagon’s and a Mini Cooper). Two of those cars were under warranty and I brought them in after the dealer’s mechanics either messed up or couldn’t seem to solve a simple problem. In both cases J&J was able to immediately diagnose the problem and get it fixed.
In one case, the dealer had told me I needed to have my axle replaced when my car developed a serious shimmy after they had new tires installed. I took the car to J&J and they found the problem: the dealer didn’t know how to install the tires. J&J remounted the tires and the car ran smoother than ever. It was that simple.
I’ve also had J&J coordinate body work on two of my cars. J&J did an excellent job working with my insurance company, helping me get the right work done and making the most of the money provided by the insurance company.
They seem to be well respected for their knowledge of older, higher-​end vehicles. It is not uncommon to see a vintage, mint-​condition ferrari or porche being worked on in their shop right next to a soccer mom’s SUV and a college student’s honda (or mazda!). I figure if someone would trust them with a $ 100,000+ car, I can trust them with my vehicles (which cost much less).
The rates are reasonable, the staff is friendly, no-​nonsense and knowledgeable. They don’t need to impress you. They always seemed to care about my car.
This is a mechanic that you should get to know on a long-​term basis, develop a working relationship with. When you want to buy a new car, get their advice. When you want to sell a car, get their advice.
When you have a friend who needs help with a car, send them to J&J.
