I ended up turning this place in to the Better Business Bureau due to them taking $ 40 from me to hold a spot for a prenatal massage. After they took that money, they never returned my phone calls. I actually went by the place twice. Once I found locked doors, and the second time the door was unlocked, but the place was empty (and when i say empty, I mean there were light fixtures hanging… but that’s it).
I’m absolutely appalled by this place.

I called to redeem a Couples Massage Groupon at the Reiki Institute immediately after purchasing it in May. First, the company never answered a call. Then it took days for them to return my call. When they finally returned did, they told me that they did not have availability to accept my Groupon on a Saturday until the end of September (4 months later!!!). I booked the first available Saturday morning appointment for ⁹⁄₂₈. I had read reviews warning of a scam where they book appts & then call the day before to cancel for some bogus reason, but I hoped my experience would be different — It wasn’t. I was called after business hours at 7 pm on Friday, ⁹⁄₂₇ by their office informing me that they no longer accepted Groupons. Not only did they call me on a Friday night less than 24 hours in advance of my scheduled appt, but the woman on the phone was unapologetic & rude, and tried to get me to pay for the massage on my credit card. I have never had a worse experience with such poor service all around. The staff was horrible. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone. The Groupon I purchased specifically reads: «The amount paid for this voucher ($ 45.00) with Atlanta Institute for Reiki & Energy Medicine NEVER EXPIRES. The promotional value expires October 30, 2013.» …Also, This Business is NOT BBB Accredited.

Don’t waste your money. I showed up for an appointment and they didn’t. The doors are locked. The neighbor told me they haven’t been there for several weeks. This is the worst way to do business.

I don’t want to even give them a single star rating if possible.
I bought a groupon in April, could not catch them ever on the phone, went to the location in early August to get an appointment for 11:30AM today. When called in the morning, nobody picked up. Next when I go there, I see the notice that they are closed today. I never got even a call for cancellation or reschedule. Nothing is even mentioned on their website of they being closed on Wed, THurs and Sun, but that is written on their door now on a hardly visible sticker.
I find this to be extremely rude for any business. I would not recommend anybody to go there.

Purchased a Groupon voucher for the couple’s massage. They were completely unable to provide the service I purchased as every appointment required I fork over another $ 40 for aromatherapy. They ran concurrent promotions on a variety of deal sites and were unable/​unwilling to manage the results. Would never go here.

With a Groupon for two separate massages and reiki sessions, my friend and I have been trying to get an appointment booked at this establishment since May.
During our initial phone call to book an appointment we spent 45 minutes with them only to get shoved back until July 9! Then an hour before the appointment they called to cancel! 30 mins later they call to reschedule an appointment for July 12 at noon — everything was set — we were happy. Then they call back less than 10 mins later to cancel that appointment because the building is being closed down and they didn’t know about it 10 mins before they called me!
They issued me a refund before I even asked them for one — RUDE! The staff were sarcastic and even though the words ‘sorry and i apologize’ came out of their mouths the tone was definitely one of ‘I could care less’.
I haven’t even stepped foot into this establishment but the unbelievably unaccommodating staff is such a put off that I definitely wouldn’t want to spend any of my money there.

Groupon was very efficient for providing a refund from this experience. I scheduled a a hour massage plus Reiki session three weeks before the appointment. The day before my massage they called to report a scheduling issue and that my appointment had been removed. I attempted several times to return the call to clear this up but kept encountering a full mailbox. I finally spoke with someone two hours before the actual appointment. The clerk explained that on this date it was «add on» day and that I could still have my appointment if I would be willing to spend an additional $ 25, which I was not. I explained that their staff had made the appointment and that this was not my issue or Groupon’s issue, and I expected to have my appointment. I was referred to the scheduling manager who would not speak with me because allegedly she was on the phone with Groupon clearing up the issue (this was not the case). I requested a call back from the manager and have yet to receive it. I have attempted to report the issue to their «corporate» location. I have still not received a call back from the messages I have left.
Again, run do not walk away from this program and it’s unprofessional staff.

I would rate this place a negative * if I could!!! Horrible experience!!!
I purchased a coupon through Living Social in January– I called tons of times no answer and you can’t leave a message (voice mail is full). I finally got through and made an appt. for March. I called to confirm the week of my appt and they said I did not have an appt. I made another appt for June and waited till then– went to the appt– was caught in traffic on a Saturday at Piedmont/​Lenox– i called them– told them i was 10 – 20 mins running late– but I was only a few minutes away– when I got there (after driving for over an hour) — they told my husband and I they couldn’t see us. They told us to wait around for 30 – 45 mins and they would let us know if they could work us in. After an Hour– they told us there wasn’t anyway we would be seen on that Saturday! I needed a nice husband/​wife massage– but after all this stress it is just not worth it!!! I really wanted to find out about the Reiki sessions– but this place is not about bringing peace into your body– it is about building stress that is entirely unnecessary in a professionally run place– This IS NOT A PROFESSIONALLY RUN PLACE!!! pLEASE SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE — DO NOT GO HERE– Find healing and a massage somewhere else!!!

Very bad service. Took me 3 months to get someone on the phone. After I make an appointment 2 months in the future, they cancel on me and did not bother to reschedule. Took me another 2 months to get someone of the phone. When I talked to the lady on the phone and said they were unprofessional, she said I am being abusive! Negative, energy for a reiki place. Save your time, energy and money and go elsewhere. I have been to better places. They also ended up cancelling my groupon without my approval.
They got 1 star only because there is no option to give them zero stars.

It was impossible to get appointment and once we finally did for 3 months later we arrive on the day of the appointment and the door sign says its closed. Then it turns out to be open on tuesdays even though the door and online information indicate otherwise so that was pretty confusing. One of the most unprofessional, disgusting places I’ve ever had the displeasure to witness. Do not waste your time and money here. They are understaffed and under qualified. They do not accommodate to customers needs and I’m disappointed in Groupon for even sponsoring them.

My husband recently purchased a Groupon for a couple’s massage. After calling multiple times to make an appointment we were told that the next appointment wouldn’t be available for another two months however there was a «special appointment» cancellation and we could get in earlier if we paid an additional $ 40. Because we were desperate to get massages my husband agreed to pay the difference for the special appointment which we were told included aromatherapy oils.
We had a scheduled appointment for Saturday at 6pm. At 5:20 pm on Saturday we were given a call canceling that appointment because a therapist hadn’t showed up. Yes, it was irritating but I understand things happen so we rescheduled for Tues. We let them know that we had paid extra for the «special appointment» but was told that we would be given extras after our massage.
Tuesday rolls around and our appointment is set for 6pm. We get to the location (a very small space with 2 – 3 rooms) at 5:50 and there is no one around. Finally 10 mins later someone comes to greet us and give us paperwork to fill out. We were finally seen around 630. We left the office at 7:18. Hardly an hour couples massage.
While my husband enjoyed his massage I can’t say the same for mine. I prefer a female but when we got there we were told that for couple’s massages they use a male and a female (contrary to another reviewers experience). I received a rub. Not a massage BUT A RUB. I was very disappointed. To make matters worse the extra fee we paid for our «special appt» was aromatherapy oil which in no way was special but instead rather standard when getting a massage. If therapists don’t use oil when giving massages what do they use? $ 40 extra for massage oil?
At the end of the appointment a Reiki master came in the room to perform Reiki on us. To be honest it felt like a load of crap. I watched her as she stood over my husband chanting and flapping her arms around his body. I was annoyed but it did provide me with some comic relief. Nothing about the practice seemed legit.
All in all we ended up paying about $ 50 dollars per person including a tip which in all honesty we probably didn’t have to give. I would have rather paid a little more and went somewhere for a legitimate massage. I hate to say it but this place feels like a scam and it’s baffling to me that it is still up and running offering Groupon and Living Social deals. There is no way this place has repeat customers.

Initially, I had little trouble getting an appointment a couple of weeks in advance — the phone lines were very busy and Saturdays were booked literally months in advance. But lucky for me, they’d had a cancellation for a time slot on a Saturday earlier that day and I snatched it up. The only kicker was that they have a Valentine’s special running which includes aromatherapy massage, which was not included in my Groupon’s price. And I couldn’t opt out of the aromatherapy. So I shelled out another $ 20 per person for that one, but whatever. We wanted massages, we didn’t want to wait until the special was over. Period.
So we arrived on time and were greeted by the reiki master on call. After a quick questionnaire we were escorted from the small entrance room that was decorated with a love seat and lots of Asian-​inspired motif on the walls to our massage room.
Our two masseuses were excellent. Toria worked on my boyfriend and she was incredibly friendly and well informed about reiki and when she noticed how tight his lower back was, she gave him a deep tissue massage for free there (even though deep tissue is normally an extra $ 15 — they do try to upsell with extras, I agree about that qualm). I didn’t catch my masseuse’s name, but she was very good too — she really worked out a kink between my shoulder and neck I didn’t even know I had.
The aromatherapy oil they used was fine — I don’t think it really added anything additional to the whole experience though. I felt well oiled and a little sticky when it was all over, but the towel covering me was perfect to pat off the extra oil.
And the reiki portion of the session was also just ok. The reiki master who initially greeted us came in and did a quick session aligning our chi and removing any negative energy she saw in our auras. It seemed like a crock to me, but it was included, so I didn’t complain.
Overall, this was a good massage, but I think I’ll try another massage place next time. The up charge for aromatherapy and general lack of openings on the weekend was quite off putting. I’m sure another deal for a massage will come along with more accommodating staff.

THIS PLACE IS HORRENDOUS! This is the first time that I feel so strongly about a business that I feel the need to write a review. I bought a LivingSocial deal in July 2012, but I could not book an appointment until January 2013! I have tried calling them since July to book an appointment, but no one has ever answered the phone. I then had to book online and trusted that if I showed up on the day of the appointment, they would see my appointment booked online and honor that.
On the day of the appointment, I was running late, but had they picked the phone to tell me where nearby landmarks were, I would not have to turn around a few times and ask two nearby local vendors to point me to their location.
I rang the doorbell several times and no one came to the door. The only reason why I knew they were open was because I saw Christmas lights through the windows. After waiting for a while, I knocked on the door only to find out that it was unlocked the whole time. By the time I finally got inside, I was past the 15-​minute grace period. They said that I would have to book another appointment, which would have to be months down the road, but my deal would expire in the next 8 days.
They then said I could be squeezed into a cancelled appointment at 1:45, but I would have to pay an additional $ 20 because that appointment was an upgrade appointment. I thought this was ridiculous since $ 20 was already ²⁄₃ the price that I paid for the LivingSocial deal. However, I agreed to pay the extra amount because I didn’t want to lose my deal or wait half a year later to get an appointment. It turned out that the upgrade was the simple use of an oil! I think $ 20 would easily buy two of those bottles, not some few squirts they used on me.
We had to wait 52 minutes to finally be seen!!! I asked my masseur to do a deep tissue massage on me, but he never told me that this was an additional upgrade. When I checked out, I found out that I had to pay an additional $ 15 for the deep tissue, which is no additional cost at any other massage places I’ve been to; not even the upscale Spa Sydell charged extra for a deep tissue massage in place of a Swedish massage.
Because my voucher said I get a 15-​minute Reiki treatment, I was looking forward to it. Little did I know, the Reiki treatment was really a lady waving her hands over me. If I wanted someone to dance over me or the laying on of hands, I would go to a Pentecostal church, not a massage place that offers the Reiki «treatment» as some bait to make their deal more desirable. I could not contain my laughter as she performed this ceremonial display of idiocy, and she even chuckled once, knowing she, herself, thought it was ridiculous too.
In short, I paid $ 62.50 for something that would have only cost me $ 30. I also tipped $ 20 so I really paid $ 82.50 when I thought all I bargained for was $ 30 (before tip).
I will NEVER EVER RETURN here again.

Would have loved to get a massage here, but after dealing with the horrendous, unprofessional stubborn reception staff I didn’t even get my foot in their door before asking for a refund on the Groupon I purchased.
Wanted to treat my bf to a couples massage w reiki included. I was looking for the first available appointment and told that it was in two weeks. Great. lets book it. BUT WAIT. I somehow have to purchase an upgrade for 30.00 for aromatherapy, because they are having a ‘celebration of aromatherapy’ that particular weekend. WHAT? I can’t just get the two services offered on the groupon without upgrading? I was then told they have different calendars with weekends that are just massage & reiki. with the first available appointment on that calendar 4 month away! But I dont get it. you just told me I could do those 2 services two weeks from now.
After trying to explain how stupid it is that they offer 2 of the 3 services on the date I would like to be in, but I’m not able to book without upgrading, I gave up and asked for a manager. After being put on hold three times and hung up on once, I was told the manager was in a meeting all day. she would call me back. Never called back.
You cannot force your clients an upgrade they dont want. period. Whats worse is they could have just left off the upgrade service and knocked out one groupon customers request when I wanted it.
Bad customer service and by the looks of the other reviews it’s not just me.
DON’T GO HERE. I wonder if their therapists know how the receptionists are ruining the business. Alas, I called Groupon to get a refund.

Unfortunately, I bought a groupon for this place. Today is Nov 27^th, and the first availability that they can see on their online booking tool is March 14^th at 10am, they have no availability to see clients on the weekends or weeknights 4 months in advance, no availability in April, and I can’t even see their May schedule. I’m contemplating requesting a refund from Groupon, I haven’t even been there yet, and I’m already frustrated with the lack of availability.

Tried to book an appointment. The receptionist kept be on hold for ten minutes and then told me to book my appointment on the website. The website doesn’t work (which I told her). She told me to call back in the afternoon… no apology, nothing. Customer service anyone?

WAY overbooked. There is a small love seat in the tiny waiting room that had 4 people waiting when I arrived. LOTS of attitude. POOR service. «Eh» Massage. Hidden Fees — (example: «aromatherapy day» $ 15 charge). The room was freezing.
I would NEVER go back, no matter what the deal. Beware. You’re better off paying a bit more and going to massage envy.

Living social was super accommodating with regard to a refund for this place. We have a log of phone calls dating back for 2 – 3 months, and long threads of emails trying to get a human to respond to us at the Atlanta Institute.
Maybe it’s a great place, but they were unable to cope with the massive response to their vouchers. That, and it appeared that they later signed up for more voucher offerings on a different voucher vendor — groupon — despite rampant problems with living social. it’s a shame. i was looking forward to finding a cool massage place.

Unlike some other reviews, I had no problem getting in touch with the office on my first attempt, and they were excellent about returning a call to me as promised two days later, with my preferred appointment time.
Gina gave me an excellent massage. I came here on a voucher, so I don’t know the regular pricing, but I would return if price was reasonable. Quiet and clean location.

I bought a living social deal that seemed too good to be true. Apparently it was. After a week of emailing these people and leaving voicemails, not only did they never once answer their phone, but they didn’t even return my calls or emails. Unprofessional. I think these schmucks might be the only energy people in Atlanta who actually increase stress.
OK, so you put a deal on living social and over 1600 people bought it. At $ 28 a pop that’s a little over $ 44,000 you just made in a week. I think that should afford you $ 10/​hr to hire someone to answer the phone.
