I have a pre-​civil war home that would get unbearably hot in the summer. With a young child in the home I could no longer justify my family being so uncomfortable on hot days.
My first instinct was to call one of the big local heating and cooling contractors. The estimate was extremely high and included both a new furnace and a/​c system. I had asked to retrofit a new system into my existing furnace. These guys obviously didn’t listen to what I was looking for and insisted that installing a new a/​c system in my home required a new furnace as well.

My new energy efficient central air system was completely up and running in an afternoon. My home is now cool and comfortable on hot summer days. Mike, the owner, is a really nice guy who takes pride in his work. In fact, just this past week I received a call from him asking how my system was performing. How many contractors follow up with their customers after the job is complete?
