Price-Rite is an interesting experience. It is definitely better than 90% of other corner stores, but I’d rather go to Guercio or the Lexington Co-op by a longshot. Price-Rite has your standard canned goods and processed foods, and a small selection of produce. They also have a deli and frozen seafood section. I’ve gotten their frozen tilapia filets and honestly they are not bad. If I were to rate them on their food selection alone they’d get a 3, but based on their deli, they have to get a 1. Their kitchen looks unhygenic. That’s not something you want when people are eating your food. Their sub sandwiches are not bad. They are certainly higher quality than subs from most other corner stores. However, I ordered a pound of their coleslaw, and it was terrible. You know when you get coleslaw and they add so much mayo, it turns into a slimy consistency? That’s what it is, and it looks and tastes vile. I know I am being very harsh on them. I really want to like Price-Rite, but it falls below expectations. Maybe the owner will read this and be inspired to turn the business around. I really hope so, because if so I would love to come back and give Price-Rite a higher rating.

I have lived in this neighborhood and been going to this store for so long that the owner is practically a family friend, but him treating you like you are a friend is just one of the many great things about this neighborhood store. Bob’s Price Rite is inexpensive and has all the basic corner store needs, for last minute shoppers like myself who plan dinner day by day at times. BUT what makes this place fantastic is the in house deli /butcher. They have great prices that can be depended on all the time, and great cold cuts. I buy a lot of the meat for my place here, and all of our cold cuts except occasionally, and usually when I go somewhere else I wish I just stuck with Bob’s. Small produce selection, but luckily Guercio’s is right around the corner. Between here and Guercio’s you can find MOST of the stuff you would need from a larger grocery store, I recommend it and it’s a must if you live in the neighborhood or shop at Guercio’s anyway.
