We provide cutting edge instruction in 10th Planet Jiu-​Jitsu in a clean, friendly gym with no contracts or hidden fees! Free trial classes, discounts to families and low rates. We have a Muay Thai package, an Unlimited package, and of course a Jiu Jitsu package with classes during the week and on the weekend. We also offer MMA as part of all of our packages, and have fight and competition teams, and compete regularly in Jiu Jitsu tournaments, Muay Thai competitions, and MMA fights.

We offer a 50% discount for anyone currently enrolled at any 10th Planet, and drop-​in fees for non-​members from out of town to train for the day, week, or month.

History

Established in 2008.

We opened in Oct. 2008 as Blue Dragon Martial Arts (this is our kids programs) and received our official Jiu Jitsu affiliation under Eddie Bravo in Jan. 2009. We have been growing ever since. Our instructors are all ranked under Eddie Bravo and are active competitors in Jiu Jitsu, as well as some actively compete in Muay Thai and MMA. They also all continue to train in the 10th Planet Jiu-​Jitsu system, even our striking instructors. For more detailed information on our instructors, check out our website.

World Class instruction by Scott «Einstein» Epstein (Advanced Jiu Jitsu), Kim Ferguson (Kids and Woman’s classes), Amir Allam (Wrestling) Jason Eisner (Rebel Yoga and All-​Levels Jiu Jitsu), Erwann Marshall (Fund. Jiu-​Jitsu), and now M.M.A. classes with Pro-​fighter Jared Carlsten and Combat Striking classes with Takashi «TK» Munoz and Charlene Barretto.

Business Owner

Kim F. is the owner and founder of Blue Dragon Martial Arts and 10th Planet Burbank. She holds a black belt in Karate and is a purple belt in 10th Planet Jiu-​Jitsu.

Though still competing and placing in tournaments she is best known for her skill in teaching kids as young as 4. Sensei Kim teaches all the kids programs including– 10th Planet Kids.

This school is the best. I’ve trained at one other JJ school prior to this one and tried another as well, the first only taught the basics of the basic positions (guard, side mount, mount, and back) I learned nothing of half guard, quarter guard, 50⁄50 guard, etc, etc. After a few months it seemed as though classes were just continuing to teach stuff I had already learned. I then fell under the completely ill informed impression that I knew a good majority of what there is to know and got kind of bored and quit going.
The second gym I tried out would cover way too many techniques and give far too little time drilling them so it was nearly impossible to digest or learn anything. Then, and far worse of a problem, when it came time to roll a few of my rolling partners thought they were in a highschool wrestling tournament and would go for explosive take downs slamming me on the mat and ripping on submissions as though we were in a real fight. I was genuinely scared that I’d suffer an injury if I continued at the gym and did not last long.
Then I found 10th Planet Burbank. Unlike the first gym I trained at, every day new things are being taught and I am learning about positions I didn’t even know existed. Jared is so incredibly knowledgeable it’s truly amazing. Then, unlike the second gym, Jared is such a genuine, warm, and welcoming instructor that he really sets the tone for the gym. As such, the guys at the gym are really cool. Don’t let the friendliness fool you though, they know their stuff.
If I could improve one thing about the gym it would be that classes are so late in the evening. I like to go to bed early and wake up early but even on the earlier two weekday classes class will get out at 8:30. By the time you get home, shower, and eat it’s close to 10. If it’s the later class (Tuesdays and Thursdays) class gets out at 9:30 so you’re ready for bed closer to 11. However, this is truly the only downside to the gym at all. Given the two huge downsides at the other two gyms I’ve gone to I’d gladly take 10th P’s schedule. I wouldn’t want to train anywhere else.

This is a great gym.
I go for the night adult classes, they also have children classes in the late afternoon. You can look those up as Blue Dragon Martial Arts.
The Brazilian Jiu Jitsu instructor is Jared Carlsten. He’s a black belt under Eddie Bravo, and one of Eddies first few black belts (if I remember correctly).
A typical BJJ class is an hour an half long. There’s 10 to 15 minutes of warm ups, followed by 45 minutes of technique instructions and drilling, followed by 30 minutes of open mat.
The gym itself takes cleanliness very seriously, the mats are always moped between classes, the rest of the gym is constantly being cleaned and disinfected. In the year and half which I’ve been training there, I haven’t known of anyone (including myself) to have gotten any ring worm, staph, or other sort of disease from training here. It’s that clean.
The patrons of the gym are very friendly, and welcoming. We always like new people joining in on the fun. There’s hardly any ego, and everyone is there to get better at their game.
Training BJJ is difficult, as when you first start, you know nothing, and will not tap anyone within the first few months, instead you’ll be tapd out very often. It’s humbling, but at the same time you become better and better and learn from it.
The owners handle billing, and you can email them to cancel/​pause the membership. They are very nice, and willing to work with you. This gym doesn’t play bs games with billing to make money, they’re honest, and I love that about them. Unlike 24 hr or others which try everything in the book to try to get more money from their customers.

I trained here for two years and met a great group of people. 10th Planet Burbank is school operated by people with a genuine concern for their students.
The mats were cleaned after every class and their jiu jitsu is taught by Jared Carlsten, a 10th Planet black belt under Eddie Bravo. This is a 100% no gi jiu jitsu school, but I believe the have gi classes for kids.
The Super Body Care products sold up front are great, my favorite are the body wipes and I come back often to resupply!

Jiu-​Jitsu like I have never have experienced. Eddie Bravos 10th Planet jiu-​Jitsu is no-​gi jiu-​jitsu and no BS! I went to a few trial (free) classes with some friends recently and the warm ups are unique. Flexibility in jiu-​jitsu is very important. All stretches are focused on being able to complete the rubber guard (
) to enable the student to become flexiable beyond measure

One of the best dodos in the area. There Brazilian Ju-​Jitsu and wrestling are amazing. And there BJJ classes are even taught by world renowned instructor Eddie Bravo.

My 2nd Home! Super Clean mats. Top Notch 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu Instructors from the Fundamentals (Erwann) to the Advance Classes (Eisner). The Owners Kim and Karen are very friendly, approachable and they care for their students. Muay Thai Instructors Charlene and TK teaches effective striking. The Wrestling Coach Amir Allam is phenomenal. Jiu Jitsu classses 6 days a week, hands down the best value for your buck.
This Gym has got that laid-​back-​family-​style vibe and every one is willing to help. Oh yeah, Super Clean Mats!

First I love how clean the mats are here, hats off to the staff there. The place had=s a nice fun casual atmosphere which is also important to me. But don’t let the laid back attitude fool you, they have some top notch instruction from very good Jits people here, their purple belts roll like brown belts or better.
I like the 10th Planet system overall and I have to say that so far this is my favorite branch.

If you’re just beginning or just looking to add some more depth to your BJJ game, 10th Planet Burbank is for you. The average class has plenty of beginners and plenty of experienced members.
I’ll finish by saying this also the cleanest BJJ school I have ever trained in. Between almost every class they wipe down the mat and all the pads, I was blown away. I often shower before class just to make sure I won’t dirty up the mats.

What can I say? 10th Planet Burbank is hands down THE best place to train in the Burbank-​Glendale area.
The staff is awesome. The training areas are kept very clean. Sanitation is a #1 priority at 10th Planet since it has the potential to affect everyone.
The people who train there are awesome. A good place to unwind at the end of a busy day. Leave your stress at the door and just have a good time.
Been training there for about 6 months now and it turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
There are also kids classes taught by Sensei Kim. I wish 10th Planet was around when I was a kid :(
