Chadaka Thai

my husband and I used to love this place. came here frequently for years. while it wasn’t completely authentic, we loved how fresh and light everything was. sadly, we moved a little west and haven’t been back in over a year. we were in the area today and excited to eat here again, but it was so disappointing. the first thing I noticed was that the menu had changed. most of our favorite items were still on it, but the design was what I noticed. it was cheaply printed and laminated on paper that was curling, and the fonts and design had the aesthetic of a sports bar. I dismissed it as just poor/​cheap design. then our food came. first the egg rolls, which were so greasy. I felt pretty gross after eating them. the calamari was also greasy, the coating was heavier than it used to be, and the flavor was bland. the chicken satay was good, but instead of providing peanut sauce on the side, it was glopped on top of the skewers and looked all congealed and unappetizing. the wonton soup I always loved was also very oily. also, the portion was double the size it used to be, which I suppose is fine, but I really liked the old size better. all of this grease and the Midwest family-​sized soup portion — more qualities that brought to mind a sports bar. did they hire the chef from Big Wangs? Disappointed with the meal, I checked Unilocal and saw that others have also commented on the decreased quality of the food. such a shame. If it had just been us, I might give it another chance, but now I won’t be back unless I see multiple reviews testifying to the improvement of the food.

Small portions for the price, which is more expensive than most Thai places.
The food was good but the portions were small. I asked for no ice with my Thai tea and… There was literally an inch missing from both the Thai iced teas that I ordered to go

I went here with my boss once and I was memorized by the food! Great prices, great service! Gah, I love it here. I ordered again today online! Never a problem!
I recommend the Pad Thai and Egg Rolls!

I’ve only had the tom kha with tofu and the drunken noodles with tofu from here, but both were top notch. I loved the taste of the noodles, I’ll definitely be ordering those again. Slightly sweet, savory, and absolutely delicious. Will definitely be coming back again.

Always passed by this place and wondered what their food was like so I finally got the chance to go in.
Starting off, their décor is really nice. Very modern and comfortable. The inside has very moody (in a good way) colors and lighting as well so it gives off intimate vibes. They have outdoor and indoor seating!
HAPPY HOURS: Monday-​Sunday from 4PM-​7PM
We ordered a few appetizers from the happy hour menu: the Crispy Egg Rolls (aka Thai Egg Rolls) and Chicken Sate ($ 5.00 each). The Sate came with 3 skewers with cucumber relish and their peanut sauce on top of the chicken. Really good! The crispy egg rolls were also really good! The sweet chili sauce that accompanied the egg rolls was great!
For our meal we ordered Pineapple Shrimp fried rice, Pad Thai, and Glass Noodle Salad. I absolutely loved all of the food, it was cooked really well. All of the flavors went very well with each other. I loved the Glass Noodle Salad the most because it was spicy and citrusy. Definitely worth the try!
Service was great, they were all very welcoming. Definitely recommend this place!

A convenient restaurant by the movie theater. The food was good. Compared to the other Unilocalers i had a good experience at the restaurant. Probably because we were the only customers. The meat was super tender but too much ice in my drink. Three sips and It was gone.

Good food, okay service. I thought the beef wasn’t really fresh but the pumpkin curry was really good and I know because I’m a spice man. But Ya, service was okay and food was decent.

I’ll keep it simple. Ordered the Mussaman. It was extremely oily. However the worst part was the unbelievably rude service I received. You can’t have mediocre food and be rude.
Needless to say, I won’t be returning.

They have a pretty good happy hour here… Great mango mojitos :) besides that the food was decent but portions were pretty small. The flavors in the food didn’t stand out much to me.

When it’s Sunday night and you’re just flat out of ideas, you goto a local Thai place. Needless to say this IS your average run of the mill Thai restaurant. I always tell myself that Thai food should really only be had in Thai town. There is a reason for the name.
Nevertheless, if you have no ideas and are in this part of Burbank craving some go to, not gonna blow away, kind of dish, well this might be the place for you.

I took my mom here for her birthday. My dad and I knew what we wanted after reading the menu. This was the first time my mom had thai food and my friend recommended this place to me.
We came on a Monday night and we were seated right away.
We ordered the Pad Thai with chicken, Beef Pad See Ew, and Jungle Curry. My dad finished the Jungle Curry and the proceeded to eat what my mother and I ordered. We don’t eat that much so it was a win for him and we still took home leftovers.
On another occasion I have come here with friends to be at the bar and share drinks and appetizers.
Parking it’s street or the structures near by. Read the signs if you’re out on the street and watch out for people walking since they mostly don’t follow the rules.
If you’re in the area and want Thai food, come here. Definitely enjoyed my time here.

For me, thai spots are either hit or miss. This place is a definite hit! The food is fantastic, the atmosphere is tranquil, (though it could be spiced up a little), and the location is exceptional.
I had the pleasure of trying some new items I’m not accustomed to and I enjoyed them whilst drinking out of a fresh, cold coconut. YES. Many of you will completely ignore the portion of the menu that says you can drink fresh coconut juice and let me tell you, once you’ve tried its natural ecstasy, you won’t keep your eye off that exquisite section. If you’re on a date with someone who loves coconut, you MUST divulgate this opportunity to come off creative and thoughtful. Give something sweet and you will get something sweet (winky face… duhhh, a kiss! what were you thinking).
But in all seriousness this is a great spot to eat if you’re in the mood for something a little different and yet very tasteful. I took my sister here but in my opinion its a great spot to catch up with someone or take on a casual yet semi creative date. i had the pad see ew and satay which were top notch. I don’t think you can go wrong here.
Tip: Creative idea I had a great time trying. Order their scrumptious coconut ice cream (don’t worry, its coconut flavored, no bits of coconut inside), and order the actual coconut. When you drink all the water out of the coconut, have them cut your coconut in half so its easier to eat than attempting to jam your spoon through a tiny hole, and eat your ice cream out of the coconut half. Coconut ice cream displayed on actual coconut with real soft chunks of coconut. mmmmm

I literally just got back from eating here and am still near tears. Their pumpkin curry was AMAZING! I got it with tofu and it was so bomb. It was piping hot and had just the right amount of spiciness. The brown rice was even delicious. Our server was great, atmosphere was great, everything was clean and presented beautifully. I feel like I need to come back here every day to try a new menu item.

Quality ingredients with a great menu. Almost everything I have had on the menu has brought be back for more. The Pad Thai with tiger prawns is my go to and the coconut soup is awesome.
My only complaint about the place is it have felt a slights inconsistency on the dishes on repeat visits, but when pointed out they are quick to try and find a replacement.
Overall this place is a worthy of the five stars because they offer a truly high quality Thai option. Comfortable atmosphere is great to bring someone for a business lunch or the wife for a romantic dinner.

Ethnic food reviews can’t be relied on and mine is no different. This notion that «Timmy knows REAL Thai food…» is just another someone offering a personal opinion about something so subjective it can’t possibly be quantified.
Here’s my useless take on this place — I like it, a lot. My wife and I come here every few months or so when we’re in the mood for Thai FUSION — that’s right — FUSION-​style Thai food — and I have yet to be personally disappointed.
I’d say if you’re one of those self-​anointed expert as to what «authentic» Thai food is because you are from Thailand and spent most of your life in Thailand before immigrating to America I highly doubt you’re going to consider Chadaka Thai to be a throwback to the village food you enjoyed so much in Bangkok in your youth.
I dig the crab noodles, drunken noodles, crying tiger (beef), snow crab fried rice, pork belly wok. I’m personally not into the whole curry or stews thing, and maybe that’s why I’m not obsessed about trying to convey whether this is truly the most authentic Thai restaurant in California.
The place has a really cool ambiance, super cool music, and gorgeous female servers — at least whenever I’ve been there. The service has been spot-​on and attentive too — not just window dressing.
I’d say this — if you’re obsessed about whether the Thai food you’re enjoying here in So Cal is also being consumed by slave laborers in some remote province of Thailand then you’re going to be eating a lot of Thai food and reading all sorts of argumentative reviews about where and what you should be eating. On the other hand, if you’re not a Thai Food Daredevil and are just looking for something different, unique, and very good in downtown Burbank you can hardly go wrong with Chadaka — I recommend the place to my friends and no one has been disappointed yet.

I’ve been coming here for years. I loved this place. The servers are awesome and the location is great and for the last few years the food has been amazing, but the last few months I noticed the food has really gone downhill. The last two times I went I ordered the Tom Kha and both times they used really old disgusting mushrooms and the dried chilies were strange tasting. I’d come to expect fresh ingredients from this place but not anymore it seems. Also, I ordered a dish that’s supposed to be mostly shiitake mushrooms but there was literally one small mushroom in it sliced up and a ton of green peppers in the saltiest sauce I’ve tasted in years. It tasted like old Chinese food. I had to send it back. Also, avoid any soup with the rubbery chicken!
Get some real Thai chefs or someone who knows how to cook high quality food. I’ve come there at least three or four times a month since you opened years ago, but I don’t think I’ll be coming back unless something changes. Used to be the best Thai in the Valley to me. I ordered the Panang curry with chicken, jasmine rice, and a Thai iced tea. The curry was okay, had a nice spice, but the quality of the chicken was disgusting. I couldn’t come close to finishing my food because I got sick of spitting fatty, chewy, chicken out.
The décor is great and the Thai iced tea was slightly above average. Will not be back.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again.
There are way too many average Thai restaurants in LA. It doesn’t matter which Thai restaurant I go to, I can almost always get the same dishes with exactly the same menu. Either that or I’m just getting bored.
My friend had the Pad See Ew and I had the Drunken Noodles. I tasted both and honestly, couldn’t tell the difference. Actually it tastes exactly like the Drunken Noodles and Pad See Ew that I tasted at some other Thai restaurant. It suits the palate of the average Joe here… okay Thai food.
The service was not happening that day. One waitress to handle the entire restaurant right smack in the middle of lunch. I was not a happy camper.
So if you’re in the mood for average Thai in the area, this place will suit your needs. But if you want something authentic… please go visit Thai town in West Hollywood.

The Food: (lunch special)
Lunch special comes with one egg roll per order. The dipping sauce is a little too sweet for my taste. The filling is vegetable only.
Pork Belly curry (hung-​lay curry) — Hung-​lay curry is the northern Thai pork belly curry. It is made with red curry paste, curry powder and fresh turmeric. The curry has exotic aroma from garlic and ginger. The pork belly is simmered and tenderized with salt, sweet and sour flavor. (The curry sauce is way too greasy and oily. Lots of fat on the pork belly. Brown rice has great texture.)
The Parking: Street parking (90 minutes) or parking lot structure on Palm (2 hours)
