History

Established in 2014.

The Furniture Sisters, Michelle Dorow and Marla Chaloukian, are actually sisters who grew up in the North Hollywood, California area, not far from their store in Burbank. Michelle has been an interior decorator for 20 plus years, while Marla has been working as a court reporter in the Los Angeles Superior Court. Together they hunt down the most beautiful furniture they can locate. They recycle and repurpose, re-stain, repaint — whatever needs to be done to beautify the piece of furniture. Then they put it together in a stylish vignette to help you realize its true style potential. The store specializes in Mid Century Modern, Cottage Chic and Urban Rustic furniture, with plenty of art, lighting and accessories to finish out the look you desire. Come visit the Furniture Sisters and check out the great array of vintage furniture.

Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner

After working in the court reporting field for 23 years, I found myself captivated by the «hunt» for vintage pieces of furniture. That’s the part I enjoy most. I find it fun to hunt through houses at estate sales and yard sales, looking for pieces that our clients need to complete the design of their homes. Luckily, my sister Michelle is a designer, so she can take what I find and make it look good. I never thought I would find myself working in the retail world, but it’s been rewarding and fun and a lot of work.

We wanted our store to be different from most vintage stores. Instead of many pieces piled around the store helter skelter, we have kept our furniture, accessories, lighting and artwork set up in vignettes so that our customers can see the beauty of our pieces. Our goal is to make our store the best looking on the block.
