Hero pieces, Marquee signage, Busts, Icons and anything else pretty much. Working fast to get to the quality keeps the costs below others and other methods. With the ability to make fast and free changes also separates me from the machines.

I started JMK Sculpture after leaving Disney in 2002. Character Specialist for Disney, Entire Automobiles made without plans for movies and commercials. The field continues to evolve with the Digital machines taking much of the work away from craftsmen and artists who have traditionally provided these services to the Entertainment and Business Industry. But working large like JMK Sculpture specializes in still makes me the smarter choice in many instances. Unless you’re Pixar with a fully formed wire-frame to import to the CNC mill then you’ll most likely need alterations and definitely will need someone to clean up the finished milled piece. JMK also provides a clean up service for multiple milling companies now but often JMK is chosen because of price and the time factor involved. Don’t assume the computers are going to do it all. Talk with the sculptor, not the machine. And get it the way you want it or better than you imagined. For a better price too!

When I left Disney I believed, as I still do now, that I can provide a service that people need and will profit from if I’m involved. My method of sculpting allows for improvements as changes can be made at any point unlike a machined piece. I often work only from a thumbnail sketch or a verbal concept. Highest Quality done quickly and cheaper than most if not all these days. As a company with these attributes I should be the higher priced option but I’m not. (I’m not paying a mortgage on a machine :) My goal is to exceed the clients expectations or at least give them exactly what they want.
