Business Owner

Jose M. Medrano, M.D., graduated cum laude from Brooklyn College of the City University of New York, and attained his medical degree from State University of New York, College of Medicine. Dr. Medrano’s obstetrics and gynecology residency was at Staten Island University Hospital in New York.

In private practice since 1997, Dr. Medrano moved to California in 2010 and currently practices obstetrics and gynecology in Burbank.

From a family of professionals, Jose M. Medrano, M.D., wanted to be a doctor since he was a child.

In medical school, Dr. Medrano initially pursued a specialty in surgery; however, the sheer excitement of delivering a baby prevailed, and Dr. Medrano was board certified in obstetrics and gynecology in 1999. Another reason for specializing in OB/​GYN, explains Jose M. Medrano, M.D., was that this specialty allows him to practice primary care medicine as well. Dr. Medrano enjoys keeping his comprehensive knowledge of medicine current.

I really wanted to like Dr. Medrano and gave him so many chances. Much to my dismay he delivered my first child after a less than pleasant experience with his services. I tried switching doctors towards the end of the pregnancy and could not so he ended up delivering my bundle of joy which all worked out.
I got pregnant a second time about a year after he delivered my first child. First off He did not remember me at all from one year ago which actually didn’t surprise me because he makes no efforts to get to know his patients. Whenever I had a question he appeared to be annoyed and would rush through the answer (which I noticed early on in my first pRegnancy). No, congratulations from Dr. Medrano instead he asked me, «did you want to get pregnant?» That did it for me.
Word of advice for Dr. Medrano, treat every patient like your only. Take your time with them listen to their concerns and questions with out rushing them out of your office. And lastly smile a little at least pretend like you actually like your job.

Dr. Medrano is simply the best. He saved my life simply. After going to multiple Ob GYN’s and testings for abnormal bleeding for years. After my very first visit, Dr. Medrano decided to take a biopsy of the uterine lining during a routine pap. Sadly we discovered cancer but it was caught so early on that everything was removed and no chemo. He recommended me then to an excellent oncologist OB GYN and asked and did participate in the actual surgery.
I can’t thank him enough for catching what many other doctors had failed to do. I never felt rushed during my office visits and he actually listened to me. I trust him thoroughly and am grateful for his wise decisions.

I love Medrano. He delivered both of my girls and will be delivering any babies to come. With my first pregnancy I was clueless on what to do, luckily Google aided me in finding him. The initial process was simple and fast. Of course my main concern was having a male obgyn, but he made me feel very comfortable. He is personable and down to earth. He answered all my crazy questions and concerns without hesitation. With my second pregnancy I drove from Arcadia to Burbank for my visits. I refused to see another.
The staff is also great. The gals are friendly and helpful. If I didn’t move east I would still be seeing him for all non-​pregnancy related lady check-​ups.

This is my first pregnancy and I was recommended to Dr. Medrano. When I asked questions he would sarcastically answer and seem annoyed that I’m asking questions. I shouldn’t feel like I’m annoying my obgyn with questions. I wanted to have a detailed birth plan and he gave me a hard time about it and said that I didn’t need one. When my mother came with me to one of my appointments she was concerned about how my condition would interfere with my vaginal birth and asked questions. He responded rudely, defensive, raised his voice and gave her attitude like she shouldn’t be asking questions. She quickly thought maybe I should switch. I wanted to give him a few more tries. He had terrible bedside manners. He made me feel uncomfortable and almost always made me feel bad for having concerns about my own pregnancy. I wanted to ask questions and not feel attacked. His staff is very kind but him in general is not a very good obgyn! Our appointments would be 5 minutes long. At one time, forgot to
take my urine sample. He never measured my tummy. I am so upset I wasted 7 months being his patient. I wouldn’t recommend this doctor to anyone who has tons of questions about their pregnancy or wants a caring personable doctor.

I was seven months when I went to Dr. Medrano since I wanted to try a VBAC and my previous dr who I was seen since the begining of my pregnancy didn’t want to give me that opportunity. I was suprised Dr. Medrano took me in my third trimester as most dr’s do not. His staff was very helpful in getting all my paperwork in order for Dr. Medrano to review and allow me to try the VBAC. I was very nervous to do it but Dr. Medrano assured me that he was going to do all he could in order for me to be able to deliver the way i always wanted. He always gave me peace of mind knowing that my Dr. cared for me and my choices of how I wanted my baby delivered, every question and concern I had was answered clearly and in a positive way by Dr. Medrano. I successfully delivered my baby via VBAC with no complications and a healthy baby. I am very happy I chose Dr. Medrano! Couldn’t have gotten anyone better than him. Definitely recommend, and office visits are quick and you don’t have to wait hours to be seen. Thank you.

PREGNANCY/​DELIVERY REVIEW:
Dr. Medrano accepted me as a transfer patient and I am so glad I chose him to be my Dr.
If you want a real Dr he is it. He delivered my first baby on aug 25th this year via c section. Not only did I see him at every visit (which at my previous OB I met the Dr once) he was there at the hospital constantly (late at night) and reassuring all his decisions were in the best interest for the baby and myself. I never once felt I was in the hands of some other Dr at the hospital during labor. He works very well with the Nursing staff at St Joseph’s in burbank. I couldn’t be happier with his bedside manners. I personally don’t like to wait at the Drs office and at his office you are in and out he doesn’t leave you waiting. He is very chill so if you are like me who feeds off others energy he has this calm approach to everything which helped with my anxiety.

Hands down Dr Medrano is the best. I have been struggling with a few issues and he is genuinely taking care of me every step of the way. He is super active and helpful with a lot of information and follow ups. He cares for his patients. I’m so glad I found him and that I’m in his care. Wouldn’t trust anyone else. Oh, his staff is also amazing. They are very patient and helpful with me and my millions of phone calls and questions.

This is my second pregnancy and I went with Dr. Medrano because he was willing to see me when I was 5 weeks pregnant when most doctors make you wait.
The first visit went well and I thought I would stick with him throughout this pregnancy. Then the second visit I felt very rushed and almost like I was annoying him in some way if I asked a question. I still decided to stick it out and give it a chance.
One day I noticed I was spotting and I never had that in my first pregnancy so naturally I freaked out. I scheduled an appointment and when I went in Dr. Medrano didn’t even take a swab for testing before claiming I had a bacterial infection and was quick to prescribe me something for it. During that visit he asked when my next appointment was. I told him it was a week from today. He told me to keep the appointment so we can do a follow up.
I go in a week later to my SCHEDULED appointment and the nurses can’t find it and say they can squeeze me in. Dr. Medrano walks in and says «What’s going on?» In an annoyed voice. No hello, how are you. I said I had an appointment today and he said «Oh, well I thought since you came last week you would reschedule». Wth?
I was done after that. He was rude and I yet again felt rushed and like I was in his way or something. I’m now back with the doctor who delivered my first and I should have stuck with him in the first place and just waited until I was 10 weeks to see him. Dr. Bardowell also cared that I was spotting and took a swab and sent it in and discovered that I did not have a bacterial infection and it was just normal spotting. Glad I trusted my instinct and didn’t take medicine for something I didn’t need.

I went today after ER send me with specialist I have cyst ovaries he didn’t ask much at first he was more like whatever face but when he checked me went to whatever face to a professional face I prefer someone to be professional than social it makes me feel like they know what they doing instead of talking about the weather and they forget why are u there :/​he send me to do some test right away and the girls there are super nice I honestly like this office

I have the pleasure of working with Dr. Medrano in Labor and Delivery. He is very very particular whenit comes to his patients. Well, one day I wa admitted in the hospital and was told I needed an OB/​GYN and they were going to give me the on-​call doctor. When I was told it was Dr. Medrano I knew I would be in good hands. and sure enought the next day he came to my room and explained everything to me. He is such an awesome and wonderful doctor and he has AWESOME bedside manners! Very caring, and would definately recommend him to EVERYONE!

I have been with Dr Medrano through 2 pregnancies and c sections. He the absolutely the best doctor I have ever had! I am such a hard pregnant lady. I call the doctor for everything and he was so great with me. He was so attentive throughout my nine months.
C sections were a breeze. He was quick and made sure you were comfortable the whole time during the surgery. He has amazing bedside manner checking in on his patients constantly. I just can’t say enough good things about him!

He is a wonderful dr. He was there for my wife during the delivery 3 times… Many doctors are only there to catch the baby for 10min or so. Healthy baby and healthy wife! He has a very calm attitude that we love. He Did not overwhelm us with options or info… only thing that matters is healthy baby and mom! I can’t wait to have my second child with dr medrano. … And a big sigh for all those people complaining. Get a life. Do some more Unilocaling and I might believe you. Annoying are those who just use Unilocal for bad reviews. I would give 10 stars if I could.

This doctor left me with a bad taste in my mouth all around. There is nothing about this person that instills trust, personal connection, or reliability. This doctor appears frigid, unhelpful, and unpersonable. I would never in my life consider having YOU as my OBGYN. Get a different attitude and outlook on life because you appear to hate your job and the wonderful people who frequent your office. I feel very sorry for you.

I went to see Dr. Medrano today for my annual checkup. As a new patient, I filled out the necessary paperwork and waited to see the doctor. Here’s a quick breakdown.
Pros: The staff are friendly. Overall, my visit was quick. I was in and out within 60 min or so. The doctor was knowledgable.
Cons: When looking for a doctor, I prefer a warm relationship. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t expect the doctor I’m seeing to be my buddy but I do expect him/​her to be somewhat friendly. Dr. Medrano is a bit on the frigid side.
With that being said he was frank, straightforward, and respectful. Overall, it was a good visit.
Also, parking is $ 4/​hr. Street parking is available if you’re looking to save a few bucks.
