The audition process in Hollywood has a very fast turn around time. Actors often receive their auditions with just one day notice. Therefore, actors need a process that will allow them to breakdown the material, make choices, and execute a perfect audition in a short amount of time. There is not any one type of «style» or «method» taught here. We work on both dissecting the script, and the emotional life of the character. We work on tone, genre, and the business side of the industry. In addition, we focus on comedy for Nickelodeon and Disney XD in the youth classes. We work on auditioning and scene work. You get to watch your audition on tape back once a month in our producer sessions. Scene work is always from sides that are from current projects casting in film and T.V. We not working on a sides from a play that you will never be auditioning for.

With so many choices for instruction in town it can be hard to decide where to take class. You have the confidence of knowing you are getting your training from a working actor, on current shows, that you or your friends watch. It’s time for you to get working!

Joshua L.

Business Owner

Joshua is a working actor and producer in Los Angeles. He is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio where he attended LaSalle High School. Joshua went to Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana on a football scholarship, and graduated cum laude from Butler, with both Theatre Performance and Broadcast Journalism degrees. Upon graduation he performed in Othello at the Indiana Repertory Theatre and was directed by Scott Wentworth.

Joshua is best know for his work recurring six years on the hit HBO show Entourage. He played Josh Weinstein, nemesis to three time Emmy winner Jeremy Piven’s Ari Gold. In addition to Entourage, Joshua has booked guest stars on over twenty different prime time T. V shows and pilots. He has worked as an instructor at some of the best acting studios in Los Angeles, and now has started his own business, Joshua LeBar Studios.

Were you in a car accident? Are you suffering injuries due to someone else’s negligence? Josh LeBar can’t help you. But he CAN help you learn to act! Maybe you dream of breaking down a script with clairity and decisiveness. Maybe you want to bring exciting choices to life under pressure. Hopefully you’re not here looking for an aggressive personal injury lawyer.
Josh will hold you accountable for your preparation, commitment, and execution of your choices in a fun and serious classroom. You’ll be subjected to increasing pressure to simulate the audition and on-​set environments and prepare you for working in an intense industry. You’ll get clear, concise, thoughtful adjustments to your work from a booking actor and gifted teacher in a city full of «you’re doing great» notes from teachers and coaches who are more interested in you feeling good or signing checks. You’ll gain skills that build on your current level of development and can be applied confidently to short and long material alike. Again, if you need a lawyer, please, look elsewhere. I shouldn’t even have to say this but it’s a big problem on Unilocal.
Meet with Josh for a consultation AT A MINIMUM. Very few teachers will sit with you one-​on-​one to address your goals and concerns without a fee or a sales pitch. He’s a fantastic teacher who is very engaged with his students growth in the craft of acting and how they navigate the professional landscape of Hollywood.
And, seriously, if you’ve somehow read this far and still need an attorney, for the love of God search «Attorney» in the Unilocal search bar. You know what, no, just meet with Josh anyway. He pulls off a suit well and could probably fake his way through the court room precedings. Seriously. I guess it’s worth a shot.

There are dozens, if not hundreds, of acting schools in LA. How are you supposed to pick? My best advice is to get a recommendation from a friend who likes their class and check out the teacher for yourself. Let me be your friend in this scenario. But don’t just take my word blindly, Josh offers a consult session before you sign up for the class where he gives you material to prepare and you get to perform it for him. He’ll go through it with you and you’ll get to learn his style and see the master at work, for free.
I’ve done a few different classes since I moved to LA and Josh’s class is by far the best. The dude seriously knows his stuff. You may think you know how to analyze sides on your own, but then you’ll meet with Josh and he’ll flip your world upside down. You’ll hone and perfect your audition technique in a simulated producer session multiple times a month so that when you are up at bat for the real thing, it’ll feel like second nature. You also get to see yourself audition on tape and have visual proof of your in-​the-​moment successes and failures. The other side of the class consists of scene study from material that is NOT antiquated and irrelevant, but actively casting and feasible for you to work on. You are not only studying other actors perform, YOU are performing EVERY WEEK, and that is the only way to get better.
This is NOT a class for people that want to be babied and told they’re going to be a star. This is a class for people that take acting seriously. You get what you put into it, and if you commit to not just coming to class, but preparing your material you WILL get better and better.
Can’t recommend this class enough. You owe it to yourself to have a consult with him and you’ll see what I mean.
