Mary Farid, DO

I first came to see Dr. Farid a few years back with active Crohn’s disease. I had seen a couple doctors prior without results. Dr. Farid listened to me, asked questions and really made me feel as if she understood my problem. She immediately went into action and ordered testing to assess my problem. In a rather short time, Dr. Farid had me on a medication régime that worked well. I follow up with her several times per year to make sure my disease is under control. As needed, she adjusts medications and orders appropriate testing. I haven’t felt this great in over 20 years. More than a great doctor, Dr. Farid is caring and makes me feel as if I am her only patient. On a side note, Dr. Farid is now a part of UCLA and has a wonderful team working with her. She comes with the highest recommendation from me, a 44 year old woman with Crohn’s disease.

I saw Dr. Mary Farid on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 after being ill for four days. She asked that I leave four samples in the lab, which I did the next afternoon as instructed. During my visit with her, I asked her how long my results would be. She said «One day, maybe two.» Great! I can hold off that long.
Wed, no phone call from Dr. Farid, Thursday. Friday afternoon, no phone call. I called and my results had been in, but «Doctor Farid has already left for the day.» Really?! I asked the nurse on the phone if she could please give me the results or at least tell me if there was anything positive in the results. She said, «Only Dr. Farid can give you the results, but I will leave her a message.» I called back an hour later and the nurse did confirm that a message was left with Dr. Farid to call me. Well, gues what? Until Monday afternoon, still NO PHONE CALL! Wowwww.
Today, August 27 and 6 days later, STILL NO PHONE CALL. I went to Dr. Farid’s office with my husband because he had to witness the carelessness of her staff and boy he did. The front desk nurse/​receptionist for Dr. Farid was a piece of work. She was rude and very cold.
I told her of my situation and she said, «Dr. Farid is not here today.» I said, «Look. This is ridiculous. I’ve got a problem, my results have been in for days and no one has contacted me.» This woman VERY rudely said, «Well, you’ll have to wait til she gets in. She’s been gone.» I asked, «Don’t you think it would be a courtesy for somenoe to stand in for her with situations like this? In other words? If Dr. Farid went on vacation, you’re actually saying I would need to wait upon her return in order for me to get my results and treatment?» She said in a very careless tone, «Well I do understand your frustration.» I said, «No you don’t. I AM SICK! I paid my co-​pay of $ 50 with zero results.» She turned away to answer the phone without excusing herself or putting the call on hold for me. My husband’s jaw dropped. I was furious. UNBELIEVABLE!!!
You see people, there are true doctors then there are doctors that are merely paying for a check and simply don’t give a damn. Dr. Mary Farid has proven to be one of these doctors and her front desk representative is a reflection of Dr. Farid. Neither this nurse nor Dr. Farid simply don’t care for their patients. TRUST me. Go elsewhere. It’s a big negative in every way.
UPDATE: Finally, a return call from Dr. Farid on Monday late afternoon (6 days after visit, 4 days after Dr. Farid’s office recieved my lab results)! A joke.
I ended up going to my primary doctor. He siad that was completely unnecessary, called Dr. Farid’s office and request that they immeidately fax over my results.
Naturally, all is good now since I went to my primary doctor. A caring doctor.
