I went to have a prescription glasses to be adjusted but I didn’t got the frame from them. They were very pleasant before and during my inquiry. You know, I’m not really a customer which they can profit from me that day but they were really nice all through out. I actually have to come back after a few days to loosen it a lil bit, I came back with a different lady and she is as pleasant as the ladies from my first visit. I promised her (I forgot her name, should have make a review right away) that I will Unilocaled it since they attended to me very nicely!

The doctor was GREAT! The staff was wonderful! Very sweet, accommodating and SUPER HELPFUL! I have found my new optometrist and will definitely be back in the future!

Don’t even think of this place for glasses. I saw lot of positive reviews in Unilocal and went there. Oh my God. they cheated me completely. I ordered a new pair of glasses on 05/​21/​2015, they said it will be delivered in 10 days. I called them on 05/​31/​2015 about the glasses, they replied the Lab sent the glasses wrongly and they need to redo it completely. Then 06/​09/​2015, I received a call that glasses are ready. When I went and saw they gave me the same old glass that was kept as model. That glass was with 99% scratches all over. When I asked the lady she said this is what is delivered from lab. I was helpless and i thought why i landed on this place. Dont ever go there trusting the other Unilocal reviews. Beware shady place… Don’t waste your money. Zero Stars… Zero Stars… Zero Stars… Zero Stars… Zero Stars… Zero Stars…

Now this is how, you, do customer service !!! The dr. Was extremely nice and professional and answered all my questions patiently, but almost more outstanding were the front desk ladies, super super friendly and there was zero wait !!

I’m really not sure why this place is getting so many good reviews. My experience was terrible.
It started right off the bat with my insurance. I scheduled the appointment on a Tuesday for a Saturday afternoon. I gave them my insurance information and they said they would call and verify, and then let me know if there were any discrepancies. I didn’t hear back from them so I figured everything was fine when I went in for my appointment. As I was filling out my paperwork they came up to me and said that they tried calling my insurance and that they were closed because it was Saturday and that my insurance could not be verified… and, duh. Of course they were closed it was a Saturday… but why didn’t they call during the week day as I gave them plenty of time? So I had to pay the full amount, out of pocket. I should have left right then and there, but I told them I really needed contacts, so I agreed.
The exam itself was bad as well. I don’t believe I had the regular doctor (who never seems to be in), and the man I had didn’t seem well versed in examination practices. I’ve been to the optometrist many of times, since I’ve had glasses/​contacts for over 10 years. The part that freaked me out the most was when he put those drops in my eyes and then attempted to do a test that would place an instrument I did not notice him sterilize, straight on my eyeball. I said no. So that was traumatic.
Then, I get my prescription. I am told to hang onto it and keep it safe because it is very important… sounds good! I tucked it away safely. They then told me they would have my trial contact lenses in a couple of weeks. Contacts. The reason I came in in the first place. Two weeks later I receive my contacts and notice that the prescription is wrong. It is -.25 off from what I remember the doctor gave me. I call, and they tell me it’s because that’s for glasses… why would I care about my glasses prescription when I came in for contacts. I shrugged it off. My bad. Then, I order another trial because I was not a fan of the ones they gave me. I get home to find that surprise surprise… another wrong prescription. -.25 off in my other eye.
I am then extremely fed up. So I go to 1 – 800 Contacts since I still have my original Rx and try to fill out my info only to find what’s on the paper doesn’t match the options they’re giving me on the site. I looked more close at the Rx paperwork to see that the prescription isn’t for contacts, like I asked for… it was for PRESCRIPTION SUNGLASSES! Like what?! So now, I have to go and get a whole new evaluation elsewhere and start this whole process over.

I had a great experience at Sears. Amanda was very helpful and friendly as I went through several pairs of glasses deciding what to get. They were considered «out of network» for my insurance, but the discounts were actually better! They give 30% off plus your oon benefits, and it was less expensive for a better pair of glasses and lenses than my doc. Definitely recommend!

I went for an eye exam. Wonderful experience! Very pleasant staff, and very helpful doctor. No wait time. Very inexpensive ($ 60.) If you are a AAA member you get a discount too.

Maureen is awesome. We came here today to just check out something for a friend. We ended up meeting Maureen who was awesome! Great customer service awesome personality. She should be store manager if she is not. Heed my words. She should be managing her own store at least in the jewelry area. She is awesome

Sears has it going on!
Dr. Arata is the most consummate and caring optometrist I have ever been examined by. She was thorough, clear and careful throughout each step of the exam. She answered my questions and offered alternatives to my situation that I hadn’t considered. I went in thinking I needed bi-​focals and left with contacts and a clear picture of what was ahead of me!
The staff in the optical department is very knowledgeable and patient when selecting and ordering eyewear and contacts. The selection of eye glasses is also affordable and stylish.
Highly recommended.

What a great great place! I never thought I would’ve found the best optometrist inside of a Sears location. It was easy to just walk in without a wait and see Dr. Arata right away. Dr. Arata is the best optometrist I’ve ever had an eye exam with. Right away she introduced herself and brought me into the exam room with all of the latest and greatest equipment and a very clean office at that. Most importantly, she explained everything. I freak out anytime I have to go see a doctor, dentist, etc. and an optometrist doesn’t miss the list there. But because she explained everything before she went about doing it made me feel at ease.
After testing both my eyes with a variety of measures, she told me that I have a stigmatism in both eyes but that my overall vision should only cause me slight trouble at night. I was surprised and a little upset after finding that out but she was quick to explain that most people view a stigmatism as a disease when really it’s just a change in the curvature of the eye that is natural over time. Again, the explanation made me feel at ease.
Dr. Arata is definitely a professional in what she does and it shows. She is super nice and explains everything so you know what’s going on, incredibly important in my opinion with any healthcare provider. Also, the support staff providing information on buying a pair of eyeglasses is very nice and very helpful. There is an even flow from the exam to a pair of glasses. The best part about that though is that they do not pressure you into getting a pair of glasses right then and there. They offer a great convenience and I’m sure that I will eventually buy a pair there.
Overall, I would definitely return here for my next eye exam; I definitely found the best optometrist I’ve ever been to and I highly recommend you give this place a try if you’re looking for a new optometrist as well.
For those of you looking for some pricing info: About $ 50+ for an eye exam without insurance. For me though, it was $ 20 with insurance. Then the eyeglasses depend on your insurance and if you don’t have insurance you know the regular cost of eyeglasses ranges from quite a bit to, well, quite a bit, haha!

I was super bummed last weekend when I realized I needed glasses for the first time in my life. This was made worse by the fact that I needed to get glasses asap and weekends aren’t ideal for that. After scouring Unilocal pages and visiting a couple of local places on Saturday afternoon, I felt defeated. Everything was closed on Sunday! What was I to do? Well, there was the overpriced place at the mall that took my insurance but seemed to only apply it towards the really expensive frames, or I could check out Sears. To be honest, I visit the Burbank mall frequently but hardly ever step into the Sears. Alas, I needed glasses and it was open all day Sunday so I took a chance. Well, there was only one employee there, Lupe, and she was helping a family before me. Their rambunctious kids were playing with the other work desk and being loud but Lupe remained calmed and professional as she helped their parents. I looked around for a pair of glasses that suited my face and found a good pair. They don’t have a vast selection but they have some name brand frames and enough variety for me to pick some cute reading glasses. When she became unoccupied she walked me point by point on their sales and promotions, she looked at my prescription and seemed knowledgeable on what would work best for me, and she called my insurance and took care of the reimbursement they would owe me, instead of waiting to get it applied to my total, so that I could order my glasses that same day and get them in sooner. Yesterday, Lupe gave me a call (as promised), I picked up my new specks, and she made sure that they fit well and that I was satisfied. Overall, a very positive experience for a glass wearing newbie.

Good doctor, careless staff service
I went to see Dr. Cynthia Arata for my first contact lenses. She did a thorough exam with varied tests and answered my questions with patience and mastering. She advised on eyeglasses and contact lenses so I completely understood my options. Then I had a training session on taking off and putting on the lenses to assure them I could handle it by myself — all meticulously assisted by the staff member, Elsa.
That was a Tuesday and we agreed that I would come back at Thursday to make sure adaption was fine and to get my prescriptions.
When I returned at Thursday, I was not given a chance to see the doctor and share if lens adapted well or not. Since I didn’t intend to buy my contact lenses there (and they didn’t have it in stock anyway), I met some dissatisfaction. I still chose an eyeglass frame and ordered its lenses. A few days later, when I ordered my contact lenses online, my request was cancelled because my «eye care provider» reported my exam was expired. Calling them, I was told my data was not on file yet and that I should wait for the next day when the optometrist was at the office. Noticed that the optometrist not being there didn’t matter when they filled the form sent by the online store giving wrong information. Now that is solved, I have my contact lenses and eyeglasses, but don’t intend to come back despite the positive first impression.

My husband and I just dropped in one Friday morning when we didn’t have the kids with us hoping to have our exams done. Dr. Arata saw us within 10 minutes and was so thorough and explained everything. She answered our questions– even the ones we had about possibly ordering our glasses and contacts from online. Her staff was also helpful in letting us know exactly how much everything would cost once we did decide to order with them. And our glasses arrived within 2 weeks, just like they said! We have had them for about a month now and we are very pleased. I am almost sad that it will be so long before we need another eye exam!

I had a excellent experience here! everyone is nice, specially front desk lady Lupe is amazingly great and friendly, great customer service and they have a good selection of glasses.

why doesn’t this place have more reviews?
This place is amazing! Dr. Arata made sure she answered all of my questions and she translated all of those crazy eye terminologies that i didn’t know, to make it easier for me to understand. She was extremely thorough with the whole exam and she also gave me a free trial version of contacts for me to wear! the price is what i couldn’t argue about. i have really high astigmatism and a lot of the optometrists i’ve been too, charge extra for that. i highly recommend going here!

OH my God… this place just keeps getting better!!! I know I already wrote a long review, but I had to let other Unilocalers know just how FREAKING FANTASTIC AND THOUGHTFUL DR. ARATA AND HER STAFF ARE! I received a lovely note in the mail from them thanking them for my review, signed by Dr. Arata herself… I mean… WHO does that?! I was so amazed and appreciative, I have never experienced such amazing customer service… this goes ABOVE above and beyond. I was so happy that I recounted the whole eye appointment story along with the card in the mail part to my dad, and he was pleasantly surprised too, and told me immediately to take my sister there for her contact exam as well. You guys are seriously the BEST, this makes me wish I could visit you more often! I’m totally blown away! THANK YOU!!!
