Must have been a bad weekend to eat out. This is my second not great review in a row. We have been to Simmzy’s many times since they opened up across from the old Tonight Show studio. They have a good selection of craft beers on tap and their food has been exceptional in the past. Last night was not the case. Maybe a bad night — it happens, it shouldn’t but it does. We sat at the bar and our bartender was excellent. We had two drafts and I had a Jameson’s Hot Toddy since I was feeling like I was getting a cold(a suggestion from our barkeep) and it was exactly what the doctor ordered. Our food on the other hand… not so much. I ordered a cup of Tortilla soup and the Fish Tacos. The soup was okay, nothing great, not like I remembered it being. My Tacos were flavorless, cold and non-edible. My wife had the meatloaf sandwich, it looked like a Sloppy Joe without the sauce and apparently tasted like they used mustard as the only flavoring. It was also not hot, but at least it was warm compared to my tacos.

This place is not good for vegetarians. PLEASE add some veggie options to your menu. I wanted to love this place cause it’s got good vibes, nice décor, comfortable, and the servers are friendly but I went to meet up with a friend for dinner and there was nothing to order. :(very sad because this place is really close by to my new apartment. If you can add vegetarian or even vegan options I’m sure you could get more business– mine included.

Poke bowl was amazing. Mimosa was amazing. Great ambience and good service. My husband had two light beers and the Thai burger and thought it was really good.

Came here with a group of 12 for a work gathering. We were able to make reservations ahead of time. Overall, I think Simmzy’s is a good space for groups, but I didn’t think the food was all that impressive. However, I didn’t try the burgers, which seem to be their specialty. I wasn’t a big fan of the bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers that we ordered as an app. The brussels sprouts were pretty good but they have anchovies, which I didn’t think were necessary(plus it made them off-limits to a vegetarian coworker). The chicken tortilla soup was bland. Happy hour is only at the bar and the bar area. Parking was a little annoying because it was valet, but I was able to find free street parking just a block away. On the positive side, their fries(both in the Haystack and the Mixed Bag) were great. They have a full bar and a menu full of creative drink selections. My group ordered both desserts and raved about them. Service was decent and they offered to split our checks.

Unilocal 2016 Challenge: 3÷100… What a pleasant surprise! The formerly old and dark Chadney’s has emerged like a butterfly from its chrysalis and morphed into Simmzey’s. This is a comfortable spot with whimsical design touches. Kinda beachy(VW bus toys, cassette tape wallpaper in the restrooms) kinda sporty(waterskiis and deer heads mounted on the wall) — like a lodge a friend of yours might own… We visited for Happy Hour on a random Thursday afternoon at 4:30pm. Everything we ordered was from the HH menu except for dessert. We began with cool and refreshing drinks: I ordered the Thursday cocktail special — which was like a strong piña colada($ 7). My friend ordered the Pinot Grigio($ 6). I will say that their beer selection looked awesome, so we’ll have to try some the next time… Foodwise, we ordered: chicken tortilla soup, which was a tad spicy, with tortilla strips, avocado, queso fresco, and cilantro — a nice starter for only $ 3 a cup. We also had the blue cheese haystack, shoestring French fries with blue cheese dressing and a spicy garlic sauce– very addicting for $ 5. Lastly, we had the mini grilled fish tacos with wild fresh caught Rock Cod, «Diana’s» corn tortillas, avocado, charred tomato salsa, lime, lettuce, pickled radish, fried Fresno chili rings and spiced sour cream– for $ 6, this was a meal in itself– but my friend declared the chili rings too spicy so I ended up eating them all– yum. We had room for dessert and were going to go for the brownie– but the cute bartender talked us into the apple-filled doughnut($ 7.75) — and we are so glad that he did! The best dessert I’ve had in a long time, this beauty is a cinnamon-apple filled doughnut with plenty of glaze, a large scoop of Fosselman’s(!) vanilla ice cream and a salted caramel ring around it with pistachios. OMG! Extremely yummy… We had a great first outing at Simmzey’s and we will be back for more!

Nice… I don’t get to Burbank as often as I should! I tried the burgers and it was really tasty. I wish my fries were hot when they came out, but they were warm enough I guess. I didn’t spend a lot of time here, but it was definitely packed! Parking — the lot can fill up, however there is street parking… Make sure you pay attention to the parking signs. I’m up forgoing back if someone wants to go.

I typically grade a restaurant on the following: Service, Food, Vibe, Location and Parking… We(25 of us) had our 23rd Annual Mother/Daughter(sometimes dads and sons) — Luncheon/Xmas Ornament Exchange on Sunday from noon to 3 pm. The SERVICE: Lola was our service coordinator for special events — one word«AMAZING.» She was so easy going, never said no, she always found a way and to make my requests come alive. She created no pressure, she helped with menu selections, her follow up was impeccable, and she was there the day of the event! We had the entire upstairs area which was gorgeous. Lola did a spectacular job with the décor. We also had a kids table set up for six kids which was perfect! Lola waited on our guests and Michael ran the bar, they were a fabulous team. No expressions of frustration, no whispering behind the bar that our family or friends were crazy :), no poor attitudes or OMG’ishes! Michael and Lola just performed and made our event a killer success. Lola even created a table for our kids to sit at, however they ended up wanting to sit at the bar(remember, this was all private and upstairs). Then she talked to them like they were adults and totally made them feel included, she got them what they wanted included desserts, she was simply awesome. Oh, and I would say the majority of our guests consumed more Shirley Temples than anything! LOL! The FOOD… Oh boy!!! Delicious, absolutely delicious!!! Everything!!! The meatloaf, the veggie lasagna, the cheese plate, the brussel sprouts rock, everything was so yummy. Sweet potato fries are to die for. The VIBE… was excellent. Great music(softly whispering through the speakers) so our guests were able to chat it up without competing with loud music. The ambiance, color, décor, table set up and chairs… AMAZING! Location is great for everyone coming from all over and the parking lot is drama free. Everyone loved it! Thanks Lola and Michael for making our event such a huge success. FIVESTAR well earned! We will be back next year!

Simmzy’s is a pretty unique spot. The second you walk in you feel like you just walked onto the set of Blast From The Past with Brandon Frasier. Also you should watch that movie if you haven’t seen it. Parking: Cake, They have their own lot with plenty of space which is rare in that area! Service: The service was awesome, I sat up at the bar; however it looked like all the tables were being well taken care of. The bartender would constantly check up on us, as well the place was packed so he defiantly took some consideration into his multi tasking. Décor: The décor in here looks like a beach ran into the 50’s. With that being said it’s pretty dope. They have a lot of wood throughout the structure. On top of that it’s 2 stories so they have private parties up top(if you know what I mean). Food: So I will say I didn’t do my normal obese assault on this place. I kept it simple for once in my life :). Tortilla Soup: Ok, so with me being a bean, I would have to say that I have had my fair share of tortilla soups. This with no question landed in my top 3 of tortilla soups. N yes I have a list for tortilla soups so just sit on it. They have the perfect balance of cheese, spices, Tortilla strips and avocado in this puppy. But the kicker out of this beloved little bowl is the sweet corn they throw in there. Man what a masterful assault on a Mexican classic. Yup one more spark of great news! Only $ 3 on happy hour. So I might have had 3. It is what it is!!! Blue Cheese Fries: Like all fat kids on Unilocal I’d say my understanding of fries are well beyond my years! In most instances I love my fries with density and body. Soft but a good crunch. Mushy but not soggy. So now that you know my fry expectations i will say i was pleasantly surprised by their simple approach here. To start this do a super thin cut on these fries. N they were perfect!!! Now they make their own blue cheese in house, mixed in with the wing sauce & hot sauce. I was in love. The perfect balance on sweet and tangy. No questions def. the most popular item on the menu for a good reason. No need to read the menu just order it. It’s dank! «I was born to make mistakes, not fake perfection!»

Someone recommended hitting up Simmzy’s for brunch on the weekends. The boyfriend and I were starving, but more indecisive than usual. We were driving by on our way to another highly rated restaurant and decided maybe we should just give Simmzy’s a try. The parking lot is big, the décor is fun and we got a booth by the window; all good things. We ended up not going brunch at all(outside of the Bloody Mary-type drink the boyfriend ordered) and got the burger, shoestring fries, and the 15 minute wings. I didn’t try the Bloody Mary, but I was informed that the tomatillo made it a little bit weird. The bacon-wrapped Brussels sprouts were an interesting touch that I also did not try. The burger was cooked well, but the bun was dry and took away from the overall taste so could definitely be improved upon. The fries with the garlic aioli were awesome. The wings were worth the wait as they professed, but got to be a little heavy after a while. Overall, glad to have tried it, but don’t need to rush back anytime soon.

I am growing to love this place! It’s got a fun, retro vibe but still feels modern and puts on the sports games I want to see. They have some great deals on cocktails, and their ahi with crispy rice is the bomb dot com. I’ve sampled a good amount of their wares, and the only thing I’ve ordered here that I wasn’t 100% crazy about was their fries with blue cheese(a little too oniony for my taste). During the hotter evenings they’ll set up cornhole outside and their upstairs area is loverly. It’s almost what Golden Road would be without all the cray-cray foot traffic.

Wings! And they were worth the wait. Got a good mix of foods to share. Fries weren’t anything special, but the aioli sauce is always good. Fish tacos were great, so was the blue cheese burger. I think the wings are definitely worth ordering and waiting for. Service was good, my booth was comfortable, parking was plentiful.

I honestly can’t believe there’s a spot this cool in Burbank. I mean, Burbank is a great city — clean, mostly, with fine citizens — but ultimately it’s boring. Even the people I know that live and/or work in Burbank don’t hang out in Burbank. Simmzy’s may just be the spot that changes that. It is a chain, but again — this is Burbank, so it’s tough to plant a flag. They took the surfery, airy vibe of their other locales and implemented them into a spacious scene that is a sports bar only in the sense that they have generous TV apportionment and a nice bar. The drinks are creative(watermelon vodka ‘Summertime’ was great) and the food is ‘elevated bar cuisine’ delicious — mango, bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers were divine, and the short rib tacos(off-menu, suggested by server) were tasty. Their fries are served with some thin, cheesy sauce but aren’t gratuitous — think a refined poutine — and were happily devoured by our group of four. A huge surprise was the cauliflower pesto — perfectly roasted veg with a wonderfully smooth, herby green sauce that may have been the absolute best dish. Also worth noting — the servers, bartenders and even the hosts were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Really good experience. Maybe Burbank might become a destination after all.. .

I’m sad to say I have to change my review of this place. I was so excited when this place opened! A new Pub in town! The drinks were great and the atmosphere was awesome! I said I’m going here for everything now! Then it turned into Chuck E. Cheese. There are SOMANYKIDS! Parents if you’re reading this please stop bringing your kids to a bar, it’s just inappropriate and wrong. Yes this place is a bar, it has the name Pub in its title. Want to play corn hole while you drink? Too bad a bunch of kids are crawling all over the place like its a playground. It’s sad but this place is now chasing away a bunch of adults that would spend 80 bucks a piece on drinks in exchange for some 8 dollar chicken fingers and milk crowd. Unless this place changes its vibe the adult crowd is going to go away and it’s going to turn into a family restaurant.

I was told about this place by someone who thinks they know me well. You’ll love it, they said. It’s like a cool, beer bar with good food and a fun atmosphere. They were right. That’s right up my alley and that’s exactly what this place is. First off. Be aware that this place is in the heart of a bunch of businesses. We hit the lunch rush and were subjugated to the only remaining place to sit. The tiny table at the end of the bar. Everyone is sitting in high top chairs at the bar and we have the regular chairs at the kids table. Not to worry. I’m still belly up at the bar. Beers are 6 – 8 a pint. I went with a 6 dollar Simmzy’s IPA. Not bad. 5.9% is a little weak for an IPA. Just saying. She got the Kinetic Kolsch. We split the olive oil poached ahi tuna sandwich served on toasted sourdough. It was big and it was good. The pickled grapes and cucumbers were also a nice touch. Mixed bag shoestring and sweet potato fries were added on the side. Dipping sauces that they came with were cleaned out thoroughly with the last remaining fries. Service was great. They can’t avoid you if you sit at the bar but the duo who were back there checked on us frequently. So, if you’re looking for a cool, beer bar with good food and a fun atmosphere, Simmzy’s will deliver. Happy hour is M-F 9-close. If they could fix that problem and offer times that were a little friendlier, we’d probably visit more often.

Simmzy’s House IPA Chicken Tortilla Soup Fish Tacos Sunset sliders This is my first time here and I really didn’t know what to expect. Some love on it’s Unilocal page helped us decide to give it a try. Kitchy, hip, modern feel but not cold and still cozy but not small. It was happy hour(4 to 7pm) in the bar and lounge(see my pics of the super chill and comfortable lounge) HH menu topped out at $ 6 and happened to be the very tasty fish tacos(rock cod) very flavorful and not fishy. Well done ! The chicken tortilla soup was solid(needed a little Cholula to spice it up and give it a boost of flavor) the Sunset Sliders stole the show for me! charbroiled and simple but top notch flavor and very tasty. Great service and very accommodating has Simmzy’s now on my list of favorite local spots.(Nice size free parking lot as well.

Fun place for a party or for just kicking back. Prepare to get comfy. We were waiting for the room to be ready and say on the couches and chairs. A playful conversation-starter game provided all we needed to break the ice. Service was helpful, and the beverage selection robust. Specially if you’re drinking beer. Even with the wines, there was enough choices to keep the winers, uh, not whining… The food was a smattering of appetizers and things that go *sposh* when you fondue they you do your fondue. Do be do be doo. I think this was arranged by the kitchen, because we were upstairs, where you can book the room for a party. It’s got a bar and lots of room for standing tables in the one area — and another more reclinable area in another area. Plus there’s a shuffleboard of sorts game, which is, again, fun. If you’re sensing a theme of fun, well, I guess that means they’re doing their job at Simmzy’s. Great for families, but also perfectly fine for hanging out with friends and such. Saw some of the other items from the menu — like fish tacos and burgers and fries. It all looked good and I heard no complaints. I was happy noshing on the appetizers and fondue stuff while I quenched my thirst with a summery ale that went down oh so smoothly. Oh, and outside, there’s a fun bean-bag toss, which is especially helpful if someone needs to get some fresh air, and be apart from the maddening crowd — at least for a bit. Definitely would return to Simmzy’s, even if it wasn’t officially for a party.

Needing to drop off a relative at Bob Hope, I decided to stop by for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Parking: they have their own lot, but some of the spots are awkward to pull into We were greeted by very friendly staff and were led to a booth quickly for a party of 3. Ambiance: A MUCH bigger location than Manhattan Beach and so they have more liberty to decorate. Casual with everything from old skis racquets to the wall to a «chalk» brewing process schematic on the wall. Server came right over and she was very bubbly and friendly. Drinks: I ordered the sangria(its white); served on Friday, Saturday & Sunday. It wasn’t too sweet. I also tried their Moscow Mule and it was very good. Food: I’ve tried quite a bit over the years, but I tried a couple of new items which I loved. Pepper Poppers! Don’t think breaded fried peppers. Jalapenos wrapped in bacon & stuff with cheese pepitas(pumpkin seeds) & green onions. Excellent! Shrimp Toast: This was very good. So glad I found this place within a few minutes to the airport. Also, as a bonus, they had the Women’s World Cup on. YAY!

LOVE absolutely love this place! For a diner, it is as good as it gets! Décor, top notch! Fun and cute and well thought of and put together with all the details from pillows to little tables, to a beautifully set-up bar with clear and clean see-through jars of little olives, limes, etc… So colorful and inviting! Service, exceptional! Food… YES, please! The Brussels sprouts, the burgers, the drinks, everything was fresh and delicious. (I just wish the coffee would be served in mugs or cups, rather than disposable ones, and if one is taking out, I understand… I didn’t want to take out a star just for that… also environmentally it would be more responsible, I think?!) So glad you chose Burbank as your third location! We love you! Will be going again and again!
