Thrifty Rent A Car

My boyfriend rented a Dodge Challenger here few weeks ago. He found it through Kayak and believe it or not it cost merely 34.99. I think it was just lucky day. We rented it to get away from LA and made a 1 day trip to San Diego. Thrifty’s counter clerk was very friendly also and quickly provided the car. The only drawback of this place is the location inside the airport parking structure. It took us a while to find it. But its something that one might expect right?

No local phone number ??? really! i called two 800 numbers and the burbank aurport who said they did not have a local number! i need to rent an SUV with a bicycle rack. cannot contact store to see if one is there & available. i cannot go there. that is ridiculous that no local number is available!

I usually go with Enterprise but Thrifty had a way better price so they got my business this time. Still wasn’t cheap, but for an intermediate I got a 2016 Hyundai Elantra which had no problems, and the clerk didn’t push too hard with the phony buy-​their-​insurance scam. Return was easy too and no hidden fees to surprise me. I’d use them again.

To be honest the price wasn’t bad… that’s until they hit u with hidden fees. The girl working behind the counter seemed like she hated her job. Was charged 175 $ for supposedly the car smelling like smoke. When I don’t even smoke. I said it smells like car spray from the car wash. There was no burns or smoking ash anywhere. How do u simply charge because you think it smells funny… I think she was just upset that I honked my horn when I pulled up to return the car. Never again. The manger then comes down an doesn’t not find any evidence of smoking simply tells me that the girl says it smells funny. This was all ridiculous.

Tried reaching out to Thrifty calling multiple numbers and the phone line was busy for 5 hours. The next day when I called customer service they did not care and said I needed to go online to make a request… What if I had no access to online? So Sad.

First time experience with Thrifty rental is a horrible one. Who ever said they are the same like Enterprises they are dead wrong. A person called Oscar who check me out has a bad mood and yawning the hold time. He has a mentality that he don’t answer question.

I had a great experience with thrifty car rental Burbank .
My trip to Vegas was great so having a car rental that was very swift easy and accommodating .In n out, Yadira check us in the beginning process she was very friendly funny and professional .
On upon the drop off Anita secured my experience with being stellar. Great job ladies I will defiantly be back for my next trip .
I hope thrifty car rental give them a good praise. These girls nailed it with good customer service .

Worst experience checking in and out. Lady lied and said Nissan maximum was not a midsize car option. Then put me in a Chevy Malibu that smelt. Thrifty does not have a since of priority.

I will make a point to never work with them again. I had a reservation with my quoted price. When i got to the desk, I was told that this price was over $ 200 off. I expected a bit of a price difference when I got there, which was normal, plus i expected a deposit to be put on my card… however, with the extreme price increase i was about $ 40 short on my card. While trying to brainstorm alternatives with my travel partner, the worker only looked up from his cell phone to add some sort of condescending remark. We decided the only option was to walk to the Bank of America atm to transfer some money which was a 3.5−4 mile round trip. When we got back, the same worker informed us that he misread the screen and it wasn’t going to be a $ 200 increase, but instead it was a $ 430 difference so I was still short in the account i was using, and the only thing the employee said was that we could just walk back to the bank and that we needed to move so he could help someone else.
While he was helping the person behind us, we went to the hertz which was right next to them and Hertz was actually knowledgeable and gave us a car for $ 100 less anyways.
I brought up my concern with thrifty’s customer service dept and have yet to get a response.
That being said, if you are at Bob Hope, don’t go to Thrifty, you’d be better off just renting a bicycle.

Cautionary note on current [Feb 2015] return issues with Thrifty at Bob Hope Airport rental care returns. Current signage directs return customer to turn into 1^st floor drop area next to Hertz. However there is no Thrifty service on this floor and one has to exit the parking structure, explain to the exit agent that one made a wrong turn, exit, loop around the airport and re-​enter the building by following the signs to Dollar which is on the 3^rd floor. We were told by employees that the misleading and inaccurate signage is awaiting approval for changes from the airport authorities since July 2014. To top off whatever delays one may incur, the final walk from the rental building is fairly long.
