Varu N Paresh, MD

Dr. Varu is one of the best doctors that I have ever known!!! I’m so grateful for him and his team of nurses!!! I have been seeing him for the last 13 years. He currently treats my dad– whom has significant health issues– my mom, and husband. I trust Dr. Varu with my life!!! He is brilliant, genuine, and very matter-​of-​fact. He has an amazing and caring bed-​side manner. I never feel rushed or unimportant. He takes the time to get to know you, asks questions and gets a well-​rounded history of your physical and emotional health before making any type of diagnosis. His responses are clear, concise, and easy to understand. More importantly, I really feel he genuinely cares about each and every one of his patients. His staff are amazing, friendly, and empathetic. Whenever I have an urgent situation they manage to squeeze me in. My family and I are truly blessed to have him in our lives.

Very unhappy with my experience. I just received a bill for $ 200 from his office. Either his front desk didn’t really check my insurance when I was there and lied to me or they charge $ 200 for an office visit no matter what insurance you have. I was already unhappy from him trying to put me on anti-​depressants from only one visit. This bill put me over the edge to write this review. I would not recommend, and from the looks of this Unilocal page I may have a hard time getting a hold of anyone to discuss this ridiculous bill from him doing absolutely nothing while I was there. No blood tests, no prescriptions written, just a consultation and first meeting.

Dr. Varu takes his time with each and every patient, giving them his undivided attention each and every time. One thing I love about him is that he REMEMBERS you. He remembers the details that matter. He’s a great doctor and a great human being. I haven’t had a problem with his front desk employees as I have read others complain about. I’ve been going to Dr. Varu for years and refuse to change my insurance just because of him!

I’ve had several visits to Dr Varu over the past few months and I’m very happy with him and his staff. The girls up front are nice and responsive, as is the doctor. He’s very knowledgable, has a professional yet personable demeanor, and is easy to talk to. Wait time is never excessive. There is ample parking. The office is closed either an hour or two midday for lunch so keep that in mind if you’re trying to walk in without an appointment.

Unfortunately I was unable to actually meet with Dr. Paresh, since dealing with his front desk was absolutely frustrating. I tried calling multiple times at various times of the day and left messages to call back so I can book an appointment with no response.
There were only two times his staff did pick up — it was about 4:20 when they told me, «the office is closed at 5pm. Please call back later.» My first thought was, «It’s not 5pm yet. Also, why are you picking up the phone and talking to me to tell me to call back when they are open?»
The second time they picked up, I was actually able to talk with someone to book an appointment. Unfortunately, it was several weeks later than my initial contact, and I was not able to actually book him at a time that worked for me.
I wish I was actually able to meet with Dr. Paresh, but I never want to deal with trying to book through his office again.

While Dr. Paresh seems knowledgeable and safe, having to deal with his front desk and getting a timely appointment is a nightmare. If there’s any immediate need to see the Dr., they shuffle you off to urgent care. Also forget about a timely response to any pharmacy requests for renewals or clarifications.
If you have all of the time in the world to manage both his team and your healthcare, then this is a great option. If you’re looking for a primary Doctor that prioritizes your time and well being –look elsewhere.

Sadly I ended up having to leave this doctor when I wouldn’t comply with taking anti-​depressants. He was certain I needed them and misdiagnosed me. After going though a battery of tests, we confirmed that my condition was terrible food allergies and not panic attacks as he suggested. I prefer a more natural approach, so this doctor did not fit because they like to push any drugs they can especially with the kick back they receive for the anti-​depressants and the patients they get hooked on them. A friendly word of advice… do your research and trust your instincts.

Dr. Varu is awesome, felt very comfortable with him. Very informative. Staff is friendly. Clean office. Easy access with parking.

First time visiting Dr. Varu and I am so glad I chose him as my Primary Doctor. He is very sweet and personable and takes his time getting to know you and your medical background in order to access and treat your needs and concerns. The girls at the front desk greet you with a smile and couldn’t be sweeter, which simply adds joy to your experience at your Doc’s office. Additionally, they squeezed me in when I called in last minute needing to see Dr. Varu and they called me back A.S.A.P., which is so important, especially when you have a problem. Thank you so much to Media City Medical! I’ll definitely be recommending you all to my friends and family!

The wait is ok. The nurses are great, and Dr. Varu is excellent! He’s very intelligent and down to earth. He will make sure he works with you, and make sure each visit encompasses everything. He also isn’t out to get your money, so if something is going to cost more, he will let you know.

Dr Varu, has been my family doctor for many years. he has been great, smart and very honest.

Dr. Varu is the best doctor I’ve ever had (and I’m no spring chicken). He is kind, personable, and very knowledgeable. Being as his specialty is internal medicine, he would be the logical choice to help you navigate your wellness journey. Being tech savvy is a definite plus, so his interaction with your pharmacy and insurance plan is a breeze. His home base hospital is St. Joe’s in Burbank, which is also convenient. His demeanor is patient and jovial, and definitely all business. He has the ability to make you feel relaxed if you’re worried about something, but make no mistake about it, he will tell it like it is. He’s compassionate and has a soft spot for his geriatric patients. He’s open about some holistic practices (and I will never stop pushing him in that direction), but he’s basically a traditionalist.
He’s in a perfect location. Parking is a breeze.

Full disclosure: Dr. Paresh Varu is a longtime family friend. To begin, in 2008, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Although I was not his patient at the time, he took it upon himself to participate in tumor board discussions and to communicate with all my doctors, on my behalf and at his own behest. Close to five years clear, I attribute much of my success story to his good care. I trust him with my health, and the health of my husband and our two sons. He is simply wonderful, as is his fabulous support team, led by his stunning and super-​smart wife, Tina Varu.
