Had severe growling & rattling w/​my 2001 Jeep Cherokee XJ. was quoted high prices from multiple places w/​minimal diagnosis. The guys at Walt’s took it for a drive, came back, threw it up on the rack (with enthusiasm) and went directly too the problem (they knew exactly what issue was) and took care of it.
The team here not only knows there stuff, but they really like what they do (it shows).

I was looking everywhere for a transmission flush that was affordable. Came in to Walts and there was something else wrong with my car. They were honest polite and straightforward with me. They ran diagnostic for free and even took it out on a test drive to find out what was wrong. Another place would have taken my money. I highly recommend coming in here!!!

Just picked up my ’65 Mustang from Walt. It had been sitting in my driveway for 5 years, but I just got the funds to have it repaired. Walt did a great job and kept me informed about all the work I needed done. He’s a great guy and you can tell he loves his job. I’m so excited about having my classic running again! My car was making the craziest noises, like my engine block was cracking in half. Another mechanic told me it was my transmission. I had JUST dropped $ 3k for a ton of other work and suddenly my transmission dies? I wasn’t buying it.
I finally brought it to this shop and Walt drove around with me. Luckily, he was able to hear the noise my car was making. He pulled it in the back and had one of his guys check the motor mounts. Turns out one of them was loose. He tightened them up and sent me on my way at no charge. NO CHARGE! I legit almost cried.
It has been several months since then, plus a road trip half way across the country and back, the noise is still gone.

Walt is honest and very fair with his pricing. He saved me from replacing a clutch in my little old Toyota RAV4 when all it needed was a shifter cable. Another mechanic told me it needed a clutch and it would be $ 1300 but that he didn’t really want to take on the job, so the car sat all month and I finally took it to Walt’s Transmission, who found the real problem (half as costly a repair) and immediately called me with the good news and even tried to source the best pricing for parts before having to order from the Toyota dealer. I’m so glad I went to him, and will definitely be going back in the future. He saved me a TON of money, and my car is happy again. Thanks a ton, Walt!

Walt’s Transmission is the best. I am a car guy but did not have the tools to put in a new trans in my performance car. Walt did an outstanding job. Had to go back a few times for clutch adjustment. Walt stopped what he was doing and did adjustment each time. Walt is a true professional. Take your car to Walt!!!

Walt was a great guy who fixed my car up right from the get-​go. He actually took the time to listen first and then explain what most-​likely was happening with my car troubles. He was informative & very fair. I will absolutely keep going back to him for work in the future.

Walt clearly knows his transmissions. I brought my older Grand Cherokee in for a transmission service, and I told Walt that it was shifting hard going into 4^th gear. I was fearing the worst — that the transmission was on its last legs — but I hoped some fresh fluid might keep it going a while longer.
Walt immediately said, «oh yeah, there’s a spring in that transmission that always breaks. That’s probably it.» Sure enough, when he opened it up he found the bad spring and replaced it.
Here’s the great part: can you even GUESS how much it cost me? Twenty five bucks. He charged me the regular rate for a transmission service (which was quite reasonable) and tacked on $ 25 to replace the broken spring. When is the last time you got ANYTHING done at a transmission shop for TWENTY FIVE BUCKS?
My gearbox is now shifting like new, I’m very satisfied, and it’s all because I was lucky enough to find the right shop.

As my 2007 Lincoln MKX approached 100K miles I thought it might be a good time to have it checked out. When I called my regular mechanic and he suggested a complete service and inspection which included dropping the pan, changing the filter and gasket and replacing the fluid. I already knew that the MKX transmission did not even have a transmission pan and it became clear that he knew nothing about the type of transmission in my car. That’s when I decided to find an expert.
I called a friend who is on the board of directors of a classic car club and he recommended a shop where some of there members take their prized show cars — Want’s Transmission and Auto Repair.
When I called Walt and told him about my car he told me about the type of transmission I had, it’s unique features and his experience working on these transmissions. He recommended a service which included draining, filtering and replacing the fluid, scanning the onboard computer to see if there were any transmission related errors and a test drive. (no pan to drop, no filters or gaskets to replace) The price he quoted was half the other mechanic wanted so I made an appointment with Walt.
When I arrived I found a clean, well organized and professional operation. He had my car in and out of the shop in just a few hours and when he was finished I left knowing that all was well with my transmission.
I am so happy I found Walt and entrusted my transmission to him.

They were honest and straight shooters and fixed my transmission problem by fixing some sensors and potentially save me from spending over thousand somewhere else

I’ve been a mechanic and know when I’m being lied to when ever there is a problem that I don’t have the equipment to do myself. Like recently my 1995 caddy had a input speed sensor in the transmission go bad. The transmission needed to be removed and opened to get to and replace the sensor and was a lot of labor. Most shops I called ether weren’t sure exactly what I was talking about or told me I needed to pay to rebuild the transmission. Finally I called Walt’s and he knew exactly what sensor and how much labor it would be. He gave me the best price and I knew that he knew what he was doing. Walt’s was over 40 miles from my house but was the closest honest transmission mechanic I could find with Unilocal help. I called about 50 closer stores before finding Walts. THANK YOU WALT! I will go to Walts again for sure!

I was referred to Walt’s Transmission and Auto Repair when I was having tranny issues with my truck. They were very quick to assess the problem and gave me a reasonable cost estimate. Like anyone, I needed my truck back as soon as possible and they were able to get it back to me in a few days. I appreciated it.

Have gone here for multiple issues, even ones not related to transmissions (spark plugs, brakes, etc.) and have always had a great experience. Walt is easy to work with and gets stuff done quickly. Will be coming back here for future needs.
