2 old women in a tiny «Waffle House» style café serving even older dirty old men who eat there every day. My wife was a piece of Carne Asada to them. But the food is really satisfying because the 2 old women care about the food. One of the very few places you can get either hashbrows or potatoes o’brien, and they ask.

This is a solid short-​order cook restaurant. Food is good, coffee is good (surprisingly) service is decent. Some reviewers have called this a cheap place to eat, but I would say its average for the genre. The neighborhood setting and décor are fairly divey, for which I would expect to be paying less, but alas it is not so. I believe it opens at 6, and breakfast (only thing I have had here) is served all day. Location would be perfect for a breakfast meeting prior to some disc golf at Lakewood, next door. Speaking of next door, does anyone know what the term Live Butcher refers to? I mean, as opposed to what?

I am re-​reviewing all of my breakfast places based on my rating for Germaines, which I think sets a nice standard for the greasy-​spoon breakfast joint. Side bar: I ran into a man in Tacoma this summer who had a career as a butcher. To his recollection, ‘Live Butcher’ refers to someone who will come to your homestead and slaughter and butcher one of your livestock for you. There you go. Who wants breakfast?
Anyhoo, I will add a half point to Ed’s style for having deeply stained ceiling tiles from the heavy smoking of yester-​year.

For some odd reason, I totally forgot about this place and am going to have to take the BF here when we are hungover next weekend. (yes, along with planning the coming weekend comes the planning of the next hangover/​breakfast joint).
This was my first place of employment and if things have not changed since then, this is the perfect greasy diner to sit and begrudge alcohol at. It’s full of local regulars who come here every morning and it’s good food. Service is awesome because you are so close to the service area, they really cannot ignore you. ¾ ths of the walls are windows so be prepared to be subdued to a lotta light!

A hangover breakfast that is served with a smile, and you know its gotta be great because the cook has 4 teeth so dam that meat is tender.
A few tips there are only 4 booths, so it is better to just go with your bed mate from the previous night, also the corned beef hash will make you poop, but other than that it is a thumbs up, and for all you hipster folk out there you might find some new fashion tips from the local whitcenter peeps.
Oh yeah two words PANCAKE SANDWICH

Ed’s Number 1 is a cheap, tiny greasy spoon for those of you that find yourselves south of the city on a Sunday morning. It’s a total locals only joint, worth checking out just for the banter between the waitresses and the regulars. Given the relatively small size of the place, it’s almost impossible to avoid being sucked right into it. Fine breakfast standards. They’ve never heard of Eggs Benedict… and that’s a good thing.
Avoid the Flapjack House down the road, not so good.
