8am appointment on a Saturday — woof. They opened promptly at 8am and I got to filling out my new patient forms. Painless.
15 min later I had 3 machines checking out my eyes to prep me for my visit with the Doctor. Easy.
My eye exam was thorough and pleasant. If you’ve been fitted for glasses/​contacts, you know the details of an exam. The exam was pretty quick and the doctor is conversational, friendly, and clearly good at her field.
The last portion was the purchasing of contacts, going through insurance coverage, yada yada. There was a fella in training so it was a little slower, but I was still in and out of their office within an hour from start to finish.
I actually came here because my eye doctor is always booked and I wanted to get new contacts today. However, after this visit, this is my new eye doctor. Thumbs up.

I have been a customer for a long time but, alas, I agree with a lot of the negative comments; especially the comments regarding customer service, pushy and sales oriented staff, which I experienced. Quality of eye care is so-​so; Dr. Katz is conscientious, but last time I went in for contacts I had to have several fittings (I have been wearing contacts since the age of 12 and I am now 61 years old), and yet my left contact lens has never been comfortable to wear. So, I still have the last prescription unopened and unused. Maybe, I should have gone back for yet another try at a more suitable fitting, but after a while patients just sigh and give up.

Dr. Katz has been my optometrist for many years. I trust him and value his service. He gets 5 stars. Since MyEyeDr took over the facility, the front office staff is very (overly in my opinion) aggressive in trying to sell eyeglasses.

I wasn’t going to write a review but let me start from the begining since my experience with them has been extremely frustrating. I went in for an eye exam, I believe it was $ 99 dollars everyone there knew I was there for that deal but at the very end since I did not want to buy any glasses or contacts they upcharged me to $ 120 for the kind of contacts I use. Which I think is absolutely ridiculous and that they need to let customers know if there would be a change in price. Second, I asked for a copy of my lens prescription. They had the nerve to give me out a non-​official copy of my prescription. Since experience didn’t turn out well I went to Costco to buy glasses when I needed them and they couldn’t accept my prescription. So I had to call and wait over 40 minutes for them to fax it over. Definately will not go back and will not recommended them to anyone.

RUDE AND INCOMPETENT. I have never reviewed a place before but they were so rude and incompetent I had to. Ive gone to them for years, even knowing that every time I go in there they mess something up. But this time was absurd. They ordered contacts for me, told me they mailed them to my address. Called a week later and NOPE, a week later they’re still at the office. So now they tell me they will overnight them to me, a few days later NOPE. The girl tells me according to the tracking number they have arrived, I finally get the tracking number and they are getting here in a week. So now Ive been without contacts for over two weeks. To top off why this is also rude, every time Ive called in they keep telling me, oh the manager will give you a call to figure this out. No one has called me. I have kept going to them even though there is SOMETHING that goes wrong every time I have gone in, but I will never go to them again.

I have to say, I have not had a good experience the moment I stepped through the door. Doctor Katz seemed like he was rushing through my appointment and it seemed like he did not find the correct prescription for my contact lens. I am currently on my 3^rd pair of trial lenses and it is still not accurate. I had paid half for my lenses so they would special order. The time they called for me to pick up my 3^rd trial lens, they asked me to pay for my balance. I was originally told that I did not have to pay the balance until I found my perfect pair and I do not feel comfortable paying full for something that I don’t have to begin with. It is not good customer service to be asking for payment after going through 2 trial lenses. Why now? When I came in for my 3^rd pair, I tried the contacts in store and no one came to see how things were going with the lenses. After 5mins of sitting there, I went to the desk and asked to see the doctor. He told me there was a specific way to put the contacts in which no one mentioned to me and asked me to come back on a day where I can come in during the day. Honestly, it’s been a hassle to drive back and forth to pick up lenses and I can say I will not come back after I finally get my final lenses.

I had a great experience here! MyEyeDr was located very conveniently and the inside was nice and simple. I came in looking for new glasses and one of the employees, Shafiq, was able to help me find the perfect pair based off personal preference. He also helped me to understand my options and even gave me helpful tips for when I wear my contacts. I would definitely recommend MyEyeDr to family and friends.

Dr. Katz is the best. I’ve been going to him for 19 years and I would never go anywhere else. I wasn’t sure how things would be when they switched to My Eye Dr but nothing has changed. They still have a friendly staff and take care of all my eye care needs.

My reason for one star? I call ahead to see if they were in my insurance network, and they said they were. Then, after we get a massive bill I call my insurance company and whadya know… they aren’t in my network. The staff was deceitful and misled us. NEVER AGAIN.
On top of it all, Dr. Katz couldn’t stop talking during our exams.

The eye doctor was fantastic. He was very thorough and answered all of my questions. The office staff was quick to get me in and my appointment started on time. You can also fill out your medical history online which saves time.
When it came time to purchase new glasses I was really truly disappointed. The sales staff was unprofessional. I was not asked if I wanted all of the upgrades to my frames and lenses that I was charged for. When I looked closely at my invoice (after my card had been swiped) I realized that I had been charged for special types of lenses not covered by my insurance which I would have declined.
I would not recommend buying your glasses here.

I have been going to the Burke store for 5 years and they are the best… very professional, no wait and knowledgeable.

I have been going to this office since moving to Burke 5 years ago. My recent visit was the first since the change from Optometric Eye Care to My Eye Dr.
I’ve found both the new and old staff, as well as Dr. Katz, to be very friendly and courteous.
I was disappointed to see that the price for a contact lens fitting/​exam went from $ 50 to $ 100 with the change in ownership. I’m not sure how this fee compares to what other offices charge but a 100% jump seemed drastic to me for the same exact service and is why the review went from a 5 star to a 3 star.

As far as eye exam, and getting glasses… everything seems pretty standard. the dr I have seen both times is nice and helpful. The staff is alright. My biggest issue that I have is that both times I have been here (and the time that my husband went a few months ago) the wait is FOREVER. I was just there and had to wait an hour after my appointment time to be seen by the doctor, then longer after that to finalize and order my lenses. That should be improved.

Agreed! I have ok vision, aka am finally coming to terms with wearing glasses more frequently and had a terrible experience with contacts a few years ago. THIS time (first visit here) I had a patient doctor who listened, tried different sizes and brands. I came back for 2 follow-​up visits (no add’l costs) and had instruction from staff each time. The actual eye doctor is great… this is not what my review is about. It’s the rest of the staff.
I used to come to this location all the time. My last visit was the pits. The staff kept on pushing the more expensive frames for everything. I wanted sillhouettes, because that’s what I’ve been wearing for years and just used to them. They would bring out frames like the Silhouettes one, claim they were, and then do the name brand switcheroo on me. I caught them doing this. The frames they were pushing me were an extra $ 100 – 200 more than the Silhouettes if you can believe it.
My hubby doesn’t care about brands, he just wants a particular style, and if it’s $ 80 for the frames, so be it. They kept on pushing the high end frames why he stayed put in the bargain rack.
Came time to purchase our lenses and frames, we did not have insurance. Funny how we got a lot of ‘discounts’ which the insurance would have normally covered. They kept on telling me I had insurance in the past, why not now.
Now the kicker — come fitting time. My husband’s glasses, when done, had a ring of circles in the center. I mean a VISIBLE ring of circles from the machine. They claimed it wasn’t there before. Sure, it just magically appeared when my husband tried them on. We sent them back for new lenses. In the meantime I tried on my glasses. I’m a tad picky with how my frames fit. After about 5 minutes of working with me, the gal helping me adjust told me to adjust them myself, and give her a hollar if I messed them up real bad. Another person from the staff came over and tried to help me, but got distracted as someone wanted to look at the D&G sunglasses up front and abandoned me for a high commission sale on sunglasses.
I ended up going to a completely different My Eye Dr. branch in order to get my frames adjusted to my face, because I was less important than some 17 year old with mommy and daddy’s credit card.
As for my husbands glasses? We had to send them back a SECOND time for the same issue — concentric rings in the lenses, again. The third pair of glasses, they still had rings, but not as visible.

I have to give these guys a 5 star rating. They held the store open for me and fixed a pair of glasses which was not theirs in the first place. They did a great job.
I was in yesterday for a full eye exam and to order a pair of glasses. The Dr. and staff were engaging, well-​informed, and very, very helpful.
With me as an addition, my whole family goes here and feels the same way. Good job guys!

I have been with this Doctor for about 11 years now, they were great! Now that they were bought out by MyEyeDr. they are horrible. The new staff is very rude, especially the clerks up front and they are very short and brief with you. As far as the actual Drs go, I don’t know. The lady I was going to for 11 years changed offices once she found out that they were being bought out. All in all, this place used to be a nice, locally owned optometrist and now it is part of a larger corporation, which includes horrible staff, horrible service, and and an all around horrible atmosphere.

What is up with the negative reviews? The people here have always been so sweet and friendly, not to mention very sociable. It’s actually quite comfortable, they never make any huge screw ups, I don’t feel like I have to lie or try to cheat the tests when I’m with the doctor (yeah, don’t act like you haven’t tried!), AND they have always been professional — even the girl at the front desk whom may have been the same age as me and still called me «Miss.»
Hooray for insurance knocking off some of the costs. Hooray for My Eye Dr. for doing a price match. DOUBLE hooray for My Eye Dr. offering a free pair or $ 50 off of sunglasses for Unilocalers!

I have to agree with the other low-​star reviewers of this location. The front-​line workers here are distressingly casual and inattentive. They let you wait for minutes at a time without asking what kind of help you need. When you proactively ask for attention they leave you waiting again.
Also, call me old-​fashioned, but when a store clerk the age of my youngest child, who has never met me previously, addresses me as «Buddy,» it does not inspire a feeling of confidence or respect.
I am still waiting for a copy of my prescription, which I asked for 20 minutes ago. Meanwhile, I am the only customer sitting in a store staffed by three idle clerks. They should be glad I’m not their boss.

If you have Spectera (vision coverage) through your health insurance, I recommend Mr Eye Dr. for great deals on glasses and contacts.
My eye sight is extremely poor (L: –9.75/R: –9.50). Blinder than a mole rat. Thus, I need costly special lenses and expensive toric contact lenses. It doesn’t help that I’m picky about my frames and prefer designer over generic brands for quality and style.
I really loved my Ralph Lauren plastic frames until SOMEONE (named Curtis) stepped on them a few weeks ago. (I’m not terribly mad at him, since he was trying to kiss me good-​bye before leaving for work.)
Without vision coverage, my examination, lenses, and frames would’ve cost over $ 600. My frames are $ 240 ALONE (Kate Spade Edie), but with the insurance discount, they were only $ 80. You can’t even find a better deal online. For less than the retail price of my frames, I got the complete package (without contacts). Within 4 — 6 days, my glasses were available for pick-​up.
Curtis had never worn glasses, but I’ve been noticing him having difficulty reading signs at night and reading books. We went to another optometrist (in the Spectera network), but only examinations were covered. Mind you, frames are bloody expensive. So we went back to My Eye Dr. in Burke and shopped around for frames since he already had an examination from the previous optometrist. Similar to my glasses, Curtis’s with insurance, were a third of the cost. He received his new glasses in about 5 days.
My limited experience with Dr. Lily Nadjafi at My Eye Dr. in Burke was pleasant and professional. The staff here are very patient and helpful while you’re choosing your frames. It’s okay to spend time browsing and trying on different frames. It’s an accessory that will be on your face for everyone to see, and you want the best looking frame that compliments your face and your style.
My Eye Dr. offers many brands of frames. Their selection of designer brands are better varied than other stores. The store also offers complimentary frame adjusting. This proved useful when my new frames kept slipping down my nose (giving me that awful secretary look).
I recommend My Eye Dr. for frame selection, customer service (weekends are quite busy so staff may be a little preoccupied), and savings for those eyes covered by Spectera (or another vision plan).
