Speedy and Rx has already cut my bronchitis in half

I have been here twice now and ended up with the same Dr. both times. Without going into personal details, I have will say I have found it necessary to consult with a second Dr. after each visit and will go to another practice next time I need immediate care.

Had a terrible cough for about a month I made 2 trips here and met 2 diff Drs. Both checked my nose ears and listened to my breathing … Both came back and said oh it’s just what everyone has these days prescribed me arbutorol to help open up airways and said it should be better in 10−14days. Still feel like crap so I finally made an appt with my primary care and he asked why none of the Drs at the walk in mentioned all the drainage in your throat and that was what was causing all the coughing … Ughhhh 1.5 mos later I have 2 med bills from walkin Burke and spent over 80.00 in meds I didn’t need and just now was told how to cure the cough. I’m am almost cough free only 6 days after I saw my PCP. This place is a joke. Go if you need a band aid or a quick patch up…

I took my dad in because he has been coughing for over a month. We paid $ 95 up front before seeing the doctor. Doctor said he has bronchitis and sold us on a treatment that costs another $ 50. Prescribed 2 kinds of medicine and a week later he still doesn’t get better. many people I talked to got better after several day of taking the meds their doctor prescribed. And none of them used the fancy machine. I called the office 4 times already asking for a refill or Maybe a different kind of med. I’m frustrated and worried but Every time i called I got a different response and they said they would get back to me, NOTHING. The staff are really rude. I really need help here. Omg I just want him to get better. Should I go see another doctor? Would I get a refund? We don’t make enough to keep paying for it.

Good thing I didn’t read the older reviews before I went here for care! I went there because I was having particularly frequent palpitations (had them for years). Saw Dr. Van Vloten. She was awesome. Before she came in the exam room she heard me cough so when she entered her first questions were about it. She took a brief history, ordered blood work and an ekg, sat with me to discuss her working diagnosis, and sent me to pick up the antibiotics she had already sent to my Giant. She urged me to include probiotics in between doses of antibiotics. Palpitations ended after 24 hours on the meds. Today she called to discuss lab findings and next steps. She was delighted that I had made an appointment with my PCP and wished me well. THAT is pretty terrific patient care in my book!

Good part is they’re open 7 days a week and later in the evening as well, very convenient. Bad part is this place seems to attract the worst general practitioners in the area. They’re always in a rush and try to get you out as fast as possible without much listening to what brought you there in the first place. Will not make the same mistake of going there again.

This place is horrible and when you give them feedback, they threaten to sue you for defamation if you share your feedback with others!
My first visit was for a splinter and the «doctor» told me that she doesn’t have time to remove it and to either go home and have my husband do it or go to the ER.
The second visit was for my 19-​month old son and the same doctor said he has too much wax in one ear and she doesn’t have time to remove it to see if there is an ear infection and since it has been 3 months since he last had antibiotics, she was going to give him antibiotics again. And she walked off.
I called the office manager and complained and he sounded reasonable. Then I received a call from someone else (no idea what the name was but he had a thick Indian accent) and asked to explain what happened When I explained that I have shared my concerns with others who had similar concerns he told me «you need to be careful because we can sue you for defamation.» THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE. In addition to the horrible care, they are now trying to silence people from telling the TRUTH by threatening to sue them?

One star is too many. My daughter was taken to this clinic by her father. I had some concerns about the treatment plan that he couldn’t answer. I went to the clinic and tried to speak with Dr Ada can Vloten. She told me my daughter’s diagnosis and when I asked questions about why she didn’t do a throat culture her response was, ‘I don’t have to.’ She then told me she was very busy and it was a pleasure meeting me. The rest of the information I received from her father but could not ask any questions about follow. She put my 12 year old daughter on liquid medication despite the fact that she can swallow pills. Why? She further prescribed a probiotic which is not necessary to prevent diarrhea with the antibiotic she prescribed especially since my daughter has taken that medication many times in the past with no difficulty. Why? She also prescribed an expectorant which is used to help expel chest congestion which my daughter doesn’t have. Why? She advised against decongestant as it causes high blood pressure in children. That side effect is a result of long term use. She offered no advise of helping to clear the fluid that was causing ‘serious double ear infections.’ All of this and my daughter who historically runs high fevers only had a low grade fever last night and was afebrile today. I have been a nurse for 18 years and even at the end of a very long shift when a code rolls in the back door of the ER, I have NEVER met a more rude physician who refuses to answer questions of a mother treating a minor child. Bad behavior and even worse medicine. I was left with many more questions than answers. I will be writing a letter to the State Board of Medicine on this one.

Never again. My husband took my one year old daughter in for a skin abcess on her chest b/​c all other non-​ER options were closed and she did not have a fever. Recent family history of recurrent CA-​MRSA. Doctor refused to prescribe antibiotics, even though we know via testing which drugs our recurrent strain of MRSA is susceptible to. Nor would she do a physical examination of the infection site. I called for clarification and help deciding whether to go to the ER or see pediatrician in the morning based on her «exam» findings. First, she lectured me for not being present for the exam, because, you know, I am the mother/​woman. She said she did not have the expertise to write a prescription or recommend any other treatment because of the expertise required, and, bizzarely, because it was «of the body.» She also explained that my daughters problem was caused by «germs.» She seemed very, very nervous. It was one of the oddest conversations I have ever had. Fortunately my on call pediatrician helped us decide what to do (and of course asked what antibiotic the urgent care doctor who saw her prescribed…). Would not return here under any circumstances — think of a mean, hurried, anxious version of Dr. Nick from the Simpsons.

I went in for a simple flu test so that I could get tamiflu if necessary. My vitals were taken by an assistant, then I saw the doctor for 5 minutes, then an assistant administered the flu test. When it came back negative, I was told I had a cold and was prescribed broad spectrum antibiotics and Robitussin with Codeine. I had no infection and a slight cough. And we wonder why antibiotics are no longer effective.
2 months later, I get a bill for $ 313 for the office visit alone. I called to check on prices and was told that the cash charge would have been $ 89. So my out of pocket through insurance is 31% higher than the cash price.

We waited one hour on a Saturday. Only one person was seen during that time. Since there were three patients ahead of us, I figured my sick husband would not be seen for three more hours. I took him to Inova Healthpkex near Kingstowne. What a difference, they asked his symptoms, saw he was very ill, took him back immediately. he had iv’s within minutes, dr, nurses immediately available. Excellent care. Turns out he had a bad case of pneumonia. He was taken to hospital via ambulance. We felt totally ignored at Burke, no care at all. Skip it and go to Inova Healthplex.

Quick, helpful receptionist, reasonable waiting room. Why the low stars? They turned away a sick toddler flat-​out (while we were waiting) because the parent had Medicaid. Wouldn’t even let them pay out of pocket. Then the doctor, who was abrupt and kind of scornful, gave us antibiotics that the ER later that night openly scoffed at as inappropriate for my baby’s viral illness. Bad bedside manner + bad medical advice = no way.

I needed to get seen for a flu lasting over 2 weeks and my normal primary care couldn’t fit me in. I waited for almost an hour just to get called back only to have the doctor come in, no notes, no file nothing. He didn’t ask me any questions just listened to my lungs and got me an Rx telling me it was a simple flu. I had a couple questions to ask but he spent at most 3 minutes in the room with me.
After the meds not helping I followed up with my primary care who said it was more than a simple flu and needed stronger meds.
The doctor himself smelled horrible — it was a combination of body odor, and whatever he ate for lunch.

I just wanted a simple blood test to make sure that I was healthy. I waited an hour and 45 minutes before the MA called me back for triaging. The doctor walked in approx 10 minutes later with a blank sheet of paper and a pen. She asked me a couple questions (not even writing any of my answers down) and within 5 minutes of speaking to the doctor she leaves the room but tells me to wait for the MA to come in and draw my blood. The WORST part is that I called a couple days later and asked if my blood test results have arrived, the girl who answered the phone told me that it had and I should be getting a call from the doctor to inform me of the results. I never got a call from the doctor; frustrated I just asked the receptionist if she can fax me the results so I can have a Medical Doctor where I work take a look at them.

I brought my 10 month old in this weekend due to a suspected ear infection. Now I know urgent care places are always slammed and was prepared to wait. After about an hour of waiting, my antsy son finally fell asleep on my chest in the waiting room. I was relieved and no longer minded the wait at that point. 15 minutes later they called me back. Woke him up to take his temp, etc. Then I had to wait another 30 minutes for the doctor to come in. I was so mad. My now tired, fussy baby was woken for no reason. I know they can’t determine the doctor’s schedule down to the minute, but they had to know she wouldn’t be coming in right away. Why couldn’t they let us wait in the waiting room so he could stay asleep before bringing us back?! Also, given the lengthy wait, staff really didn’t seem to be in any rush to help. They were moving slowly and taking their time. I’ll come here again if I have to, but I think the place could be run a little better.

My son shut his hand in our storm door… Rather than a trip to the ER for HOURS… Urgent care is way better! Our pediatrician is a bit farther away and never has appointments so I called up the Burke location.
Walk ins are usually slammed and won’t give you any information on wait and availability. The tech was very polite, she verified my insurance quickly and let me know that things were fairly slow for the moment if I came on in he could be seen pretty quick.
The staff were great when we got there. The took us back within 5 minutes and took him to X-​ray almost immediately. We were in the room a total of maybe 10 minutes when the doctor came in having already looked at his films and was able to tell me what was wrong with his hand!!! She said they would call after the radiologist gave the final reading and sure enough they did! They sent him home in a brace to protect it even though it wasn’t broken, and was just severe soft tissue injury… And he got a bunch of suckers…
They took very good care of us! If we need to, I will definitely see them again!!!
