I have eaten at Chutney Grill a few times and they NEVER seem to dissapoint. I really enjoy their exotic choices along with their American Classics with a slight spin. If I could, would take a drive to their restaurant to eat their freshly, handmade potatoe chips drizzled with truffle oil and sprinkled with parmesan. I also have enjoyed their swordfish, which was cooked perfectly, not to dry and my all time FAVORITE, roasted tomato soup. The presentation is great and even better the service. I love food, but more so dessert, their hand made donuts and chocolate crème brûlée are so good! This is def a place I enjoy coming to for a change in scenery and food selection.

Was at the Doubletree for a seminar recently. Ate at «The Chutney»(as it says on my receipt) because it was the only restaurant option in or within a 5 minute drive of the hotel, near as I could tell anyway. The ambience was very nice. Enjoyed the décor immensely. The seminar was on a Monday and I went to «The Chutney» for lunch. I was given only the buffet option. The buffet was $ 13 per person. It was a cold-cut buffet with a basic salad, an option for one soup, and some cake for dessert. The server brought my beverage. So, I was seated, gave my drink order, got my cold-cuts, and was left alone until the bill came. What can I say about the food? Not much — it was lunch meat, basic salad mix, bland cake, and over-salted soup. The reason«The Chutney» is getting 2 stars instead of 3 today is that, for a party of ONE, they added in an 18% gratuity. I am not happy about that. To make things worse, on both the bill(for cases of room service) and the credit card receipt, there is an empty spot to add in a tip! I actually had to advise some other people from my seminar not to leave their cash tip on the table as they didn’t see the tip that was already added in to their bill(for a party of 2!). I also heard one of the groups across from me complaining to the server or possibly manager that for their party of 4 there was an 18% tip factored in, so it seems they don’t really care how many people you are, you are going to give their servers 18% whether the service was worth it or not. Will bring my lunch with me if I find I will be at this hotel at lunchtime again.

This is not so much a review as a farewell for the Chutney Grill. I went there today for a birthday luncheon and was shocked to find that 1) the restaurant itself was moved to a makeshift dining room in which we were the only ones in there and 2) the Chutney Grill will be replaced by another restaurant after the Doubletree Hotel’s modernization. I’ve always loved the Chutney Grill’s atmosphere which was beautifully decorated, very dignified, country club like and a quiet respite from the hub-bub from the city. It would be like having dinner at a stately residence with its dark wood paneling and spacious seating amid elegantly appointed bookshelves. The menu itself was varied but not extensive. But it gave good value and was never disappointing. They offered an early dining prix fixe menu too. The tables are well set and the wait staff is attentive but not overly so. The lead waiter, a Mexican gentleman whose name I regretably forget, is always a pleasure to see. He has been there for many years and is very friendly and helpful. Kudos for the many times you served us. I’ve had many dinners there with family and friends as well as hosted farewell and retirement dinners there for my office. They were all good experiences. The illustrations for the renovation shows a modern but sterile environment. I will always miss this beautiful Chutney Grill.

The Chutney Grill is the restaurant inside the Double Tree Hotel on hotel row in Burlingame, off the Broadway exit out toward the bay. Unlike some of the other Hotel Row restaurants in Millbrae and here in Burlingame, which face SFO so you can watch the planes take off and land, the Double Tree doesn’t have that view. It is mainly a business travelers hotel, or an overnight stay for flight crews. The Chutney Grill has a decent selection of dishes for your standard airport hotel restaurant. But the food is mediocre and the service is slow and sometimes absent minded. I have relatives who live nearby that like to come here, however, especially for their twilight dinner special. This is a 3 course meal for $ 22.95. You can choose from Prime Rib, encrusted Fish, chicken breast, angel hair pasta, and maybe another. You get salad and dessert, and a side of veggies and potatoes of your choice. It is rarely crowded here, so you can always get a table and eat the specials. I have ordered non-specials like Salmon fillet and they were decent, not great, not terrible. Since I travel a lot and have eaten in other business hotel restaurants, often alone, it is hard to get excited about this place, but at least there are people to eat with for me here.

We have had our school office and staff parties here. I have the grilled salmon with a light cream sauce over it, asparagus and red bell peppers. It is simple fare, even the Caesar salad is as simple as the simple ambiance. Everything here is simple, price, service, and the noise level. I guess if you want simplicity in your life, this is the place to go.

Located in the Doubletree near SFO, this place delivers. I had the Angel Hair Pomodoro and the soup du jour. The soup was white bean and sausage. Sound good? It was. It was hearty and warm. The sausage wasn’t overpowering, but added just the right spice. The pasta was good. The butter was obvious. Do what you will with that info. Plenty of fresh tomato. The sour dough bread was also a nice SF touch. My fav part of the meal was the $ 10 wine flight. I’d tried to hit up a couple of Santa Cruz wineries with my extra time this afternoon, but only managed to find Burrell School open. As if you care, I’d had a memorable Zin there about 3 years ago(but failed to take any home) and wanted to try again. Although the guy serving the tasting was friendly, if not a bit flaky, the wines didn’t inspire. Anyway, this flight beat that tasting all to hell. And I paid $ 5 for the tasting. This is highly recommended. You get 33oz «glasses». Great for the night before a 7AM flight. So, if you’re doing the convenience thing at the Doubletree for your morning flight, stop in for a red flight the night before. Cheers.

Beautiful décor, love the dark wood and soft complimentary colors. Food– Crab cakes were just okay. The French onion soup was very good and Banana’s Foster would have been better displayed on fire en route to the table– though it was tasty, it was not as good as Brennan’s in New Orleans, LA. Service– There were some wait staff that appeared seasoned. The server I saw the most of I believe was very new and not very comfortable with the menu. This rating is weighted more heavily toward the service and less on the few items we ordered.

I’m another person who discovered Chutney Grill via the Entertainment Book. The food is delicious! Price isn’t that expensive too(especially for hotel food). It’s also some place you can have a nice quiet dinner(setting reminds me of an English study). They have a twilight special(3-course meal for a set price). Go early and get a deal.

Not to be confused with a popular Pakistani restaurant in SF( ), this is a hotel restaurant inside Doubletree Hotel SF Airport. I only when there because I had a 50% off coupon on Entertainment Coupon Book. Entering the restaurant with low expectations, I was pleasantly surprised. Steaks here were pretty good. Aged Prime New York Strip($ 24) was cooked right and it was topped by garlic butter. It was served with Demi-glacé brown sauce on the side. Traditional American atmosphere with spacious seating. A nice place to hold a quiet conversation. Most hotel restaurant are bad, but this one was o.k. I wouldn’t travel more than 15 minutes to come here, but it’s a useful place to know if you want dinner before your flight. Their early bird special(before 6:30pm) is quite a deal at $ 15. I would give them 4 Stars if it wasn’t in a hotel.
