DAVIDs Tea

Waited there as two parties AFTER ME were greeted and helped as I was just standing there waiting for someone to acknowledged me in front of the register. Thank you female staff member, I couldn’t get your name cause you didn’t acknowledge me as a waiting customer.
Occurred 2÷15÷15 @ 12pm.

This place is for sure better than Starbucks and Petes. The only problem is the staff is constantly changing. Randy was the best! He provided the superb customer service, but ever since he is gone, I do NOT get good service there… the long wait in particular is not something I necessarily like.

The people who work here are the nicest, friendliest, most helpful people ever and for that alone I would give this location 5-​stars.
I’m going to be real real with you right now– the Bay Area has some of the worst customer service at an absolutely astounding number of businesses that provide that low level of operation that when you do find a place that does it right, its praises should absolutely be sung from the mountain tops.
Kudos to DAVIDs Tea for going above and beyond and also, of course, for offering such a delightful selection of unique teas, blends, and kitschy gift items to boot.
I do think the price for a cup of tea to go is more than a little steep (har har), but they brew them perfectly and to a science and again that customer service mixed with the array they consistently offer to choose from very much contributes to my willingness to pay upwards of $ 4 for a cup of hot or iced tea.
And as far as the little shop and gift items are concerned, it’s a great place to drop off your mom and grandma or any trinket-​loving individual to find something cute for themselves. I don’t see myself ever wanting or needing anything from here in those terms, but I also don’t love owning a lot of stuff so I suppose it’s not really geared toward me but it’s a great place if i need cute gift for one of the above-​mentioned types of people.

I’m obsessed with tea. This place is fantastic. The staff are very friendly and quick to assist you with trying and smelling the products. Very pleased. I will return.

COLD911 is a lifesaver!
I came here asking what the ladies recommended for someone who is borderline losing their voice and they all recommended COLD911. It’s not super sweet and has a hint of peppermint and berries and it was not bitter. I also asked for agave to make it a bit sweeter. I had a cup of it on Saturday and immediately felt my throat feeling better. However, i got hit with a stuffy nose the next day, went back and got another cup of COLD911. COLD911 definteily helped speed up the process of overcoming whatever this «sickness» was.

Ok so I come in here to buy the tea because I prefer Davids to Starbucks or peets. It’s good there is a ton of flavors even if it is way over priced. But as I said above I come in to buy a cup of tea not lotion, not over priced sampler box of teas hand picked by some pretentious jerk. I hate coming In and being annoyed by loud, chatty girls who work there.

Their teas are expensive but man are they unique and taste great! We came in last weekend and bought 2 tins and received 1 free. About $ 50. I’ve been obsessed with drinking their tea every day and sometimes multiple times a day! It was quite busy so boyfriend and I were just standing around waiting to be helped but once we were, the service was great! We like their recommendations. Come with some guiding smells and tastes you like and it’s easier for them to pinpoint a tea. The teas do taste like they smell which is awesome. I was worried it wouldn’t haha.
Hopefully these three 4 oz tins last us months! But I will definitely be back for more :)

Came here to buy the advent calendar for my buddy Nic who loves tea, and ended up really liking the store and the décor. The problem that must people experience here is that the workers behind the counter are either hit or miss. It’s like baseball, when it’s a home run, it really is a home run. And when it’s not, well, tag, you’re out. By that I mean sometimes you’ll get employees who have little interest in helping you or anyone else in the store, and will hand you tea with lukewarm water and just toss the tea bag inside and send you on your way.
You could be waving around one hundred dollar bills saying you want to buy tea, and lots of it, and they wouldn’t care. Like the last time I was here with my buddy who really wanted to buy lots of tea for Xmas and was ignored. The employees were more interested in talking with each other, so my friend walked out. (You’ll find several reviews that say the same thing, out of all the David’s Tea stores this is by far the worst in terms of service)
I will say this though, that $ 3.50 for one cup of tea is expensive considering Starbucks gives you milk and espresso for the same price. And David’s Tea doesn’t really have knock ‘em dead flavors, and believe me I’ve tried about 15 different flavors – from black tea to green tea, and everything in between.
SO WHY DO I KEEP COMING BACK???
It might sound crazy, but the ONLY reason I keep coming back here is because of this one employee who faintly reminds me of Eva Green with her dark hair, tall frame, and decorative rings on most of her fingers. I find her to be captivating, so if I’m in the area I’ll stop by just to catch a glimpse of her, or rather, buy tea from her. She’ll casually drape herself over the counter, extending her arms and hands out as if to ask for money as she asks me what tea I want.
And, even though there’s a tea menu, I’ll always ask for her advice since it’s my only chance at speaking with her. Sometimes she’ll look past me, sometimes she’ll grab something off the shelf, but in a casual way that suggests that she could care less if I’m a repeat customer or not.
And almost every single tea I’ve tried I’ve disliked for it’s bland flavor, or weird aftertaste. for example, their green tea tends to taste like lawn clippings while their chocolate macaroon has this bitter acidic taste to it.
I don’t think she even recognizes me, even though I’ll come in wearing my employee badge from a fortune 500 company, suggesting that I have both a job at a great company, and an even greater title. On one occasion I even joked about a particular tea they had called «Snow Day,» saying that I love the snow and that I would love to travel someplace where I could really going skiing like Vale in Colorado, and asked her if she liked skiing, to which she either ignored or didn’t hear my question.
So, she’s oblivious to it all, always asking me to choose a tea, then sending me on my way.
So, like the location itself, the interactions fall short, and leaves the customer wanting so much more…

Super friendly service. Great selection of teas. We’ll be back to check out their tea section in detail when we have more time. Good first impression tho.

Right off the bat, I will tell you I am a huge coffee fanatic. However, David’s Tea has often steered me away from getting coffee time to time! *gasps* My first visit here was because of my boyfriend. He wanted to grab an iced tea and we walked in and was immediately greeted by the workers at the counter. It’s quite different than a coffee shop, and they have a large selection of various teas. We started talking with one of the workers at the counter, trying to find what kind of tea he was looking for. I really enjoyed the one on one interaction and helpfulness they provided in deciding which tea to get. I tried some of their samples and was hooked. I soon regretted having a cup of coffee in my hand as my boyfriend received his tea!
Since then, I have tagged along with my boyfriend (and have even chosen David’s Tea over a cup of coffee) to come to this location to get some tea! I love the workers here and it is never a dull moment when we come in to get a cup of tea. Even if there is a number of customers at the store, each worker ensures that we were at least acknowledged and that they will help us soon.

I decided after trying DavidsTea the first couple of times that I would stick to Peets/​Philz for the really strong stuff. I just really like the strongest black teas which will help me study for hours on end and not let me down. The teas here are definitely fun– lots of novelty flavors which you wouldn’t find at most traditional tea shops. We came in here for my bf to pick up some of his favorites and I think the manager’s name was Cindy or Cindya– was so so nice and convincing that she talked me into getting a tea pop with one of their black teas. It was certainly strong in flavor and I don’t think it was as caffeinated as some of my other favorites but it did have a nice kick to it. She was friendly, informative and appropriate without being pushy– if this tea had been a little stronger I would have been hooked! Her service alone made this experience very enjoyable.

If you’re a tea fanatic, you should definitely check out David’s Tea. This place is so cute! The store smells awesome (a combination of fruit and tea). The packaging of everything was adorable, they have all these different collections of tea and different carafes and mugs and many things were on sale.
The store ladies came around and gave us samples of their new tea and get this, it came in GLASS cups instead of paper cups. How awesome is that?
So I ended up purchasing the sweetheart collection b/​c it was on sale. 12 tea samples for $ 15? What a steal!
If you’re in the Burlingame area, you should definitely check this place out.

I don’t know why it’s taken me a year to stop in, but I loved my time in the shop! The lady who helped me explained the different teas (yeah for carbonated iced tea!!) and offered me several samples. I ended up getting the «Serenity Now tea pop» and it was light and refreshing. I signed up for their rewards card and know I will definitely be back soon!

TL;DR — It feels like a bunch of high schoolers working their first part time job.
Ok. 5 stars for my first visit and 1 star for the two times after. The first time I went, there were 2 workers there who were super friendly and knowledgable.
Second two times… not as much.
All the girls do there is just talk to each other. The store was pretty full of customers browsing, but the girls just talked amongst themselves and ignored basically everyone; except those ringing up.
Also… they sit at the table where I suppose customers are supposed to sit. But… I guess thats ok with management.
I’ll drive the extra 30 minutes to the palo alto store. Thanks.

The only reason why we stopped in this store is because I saw the bathroom from the sidewalk. My son and I pretended to browse around as we alternated using the restroom.
How I ended up spending $ 50 here for my moms Mothers Day gift is amazing to me. Well not really actually… my mom collects tea pots (of all things) and she always has tea with her friends, so we found her a gorgeous tea pot with cups and some tea (that is actually edible as well). I got an amazing deal on the pot and cups, but the tea was a little expensive for my liking. $ 11 and some change for a small bag, about 3oz. The pricing of tea does vary depending on which you chose.
Anyway, a great little find. Glad we stopped in. My mom will love her new tea pot.

Randy is the best. Knowledgeable, bubbly, so helpful and just make the best tea.

David’s Tea is modern and cute little store kinda like Sprinkles cupcakes meets tea. Make sure you stop in and at least try the teas of the day! They sample 2 different teas every day for customers to try. They’ll also let you smell absolutely anything and everything on the tea wall. I love the amazing selection and fun that the menu offers. All the teas are differently priced based on the oz. I like that they brew and sell tea to-​go $ 3/​cup, hot or iced — it’s a good alternative to Peet’s and it’s a smart way to start sampling their 150 flavors. They have all these new gadgets and accessories for your tea. The employees are super friendly and helpful. A lovely gem in the neighborhood. If you like tea give this place a try.

A few things:
–its so hard NOT to be drawn in to David’s tea by their décor and look along. (props to whoever designed it)
–This is an neat/​freak organizers dream: everything is color coded and divided by type. It makes it really easy to narrow down what type of tea you like.
–They always have samples
–They have the cutest mugs and sampler kits
I have recently received their top 12 tea sampler kit. I really like it and I like how there’s a mix of sweet teas and non-​sweet in their kit too. However, 24 dollars is still on the pricier side– I mean– you are paying for their «high-​end“‘ tea. Not sure if I would dish out that much for tea, but of course there are people who will.
The several times I’ve been here, the workers have always been on point with greeting and asking if you have questions. The last time I went to purchase something I got no greeting and I picked out what I wanted quickly and wanted to be checked out. There were only 2 other customers in the store and they were being helped but, I stood there for at least 5 minutes before someone helped me. It was a little disappointing that someone didn’t at least say «i’ll be right with you» or just acknowledge me. Isn’t that customer service 101?
Anyways, maybe that I was just a one-​timer. Overall I still enjoy their tea and might be back to buy more once I finish my sampler pack.

I was here last week playing catchup with one of my friends. Excited for my first time after hearing all the hype months on end, but it was pretty mediocre. I think the only reason I will come back is if I need to feel sophisticated or racially outnumbered in the city of Burlingame.
The 3 teas I tried, 2 samples and 1 regular cup of Buddha —-, was interesting. Pumpkin something and Nut something was super weird. Tasted like water with a bunch essential oil mixed in it. Buddha something smelled so good when the sales associate suggested me to, but when she brewed it was super tart and tasted nothing from what I smelled. Maybe if I wasn’t trying to be so healthy and had her add sweetener in, it would have been better.
If you like drinking boiled potpourri then this place is a must, but regardless of my opinion, they still tricked me into signing up as a member. Story of my life.
