Learning Links Preschool

Learning Links is a non-​profit orgnization. But it actually charges a lot more hidden fee than private day care. The late fee is $ 5/​min, a lot more than usual price. And they used a very hard-​to-​use sign-​in/​out system, wasting me 10~20min every day.
And it has a lot of restriction making life of parents very hard.

Our son has been in the Butterfly classroom for 6 months. His teachers are fantastic and the classroom is large, bright, clean, and well organized. Every day, there are new activities for him to explore, and I love the little extras his teachers do like Friday dance parties with music and a disco ball, and occasional baking. The class sizes are large (about 30 students) but they’re broken up into groups and split up throughout the day (i.e. half have outside time while the others are inside, then they switch) and the overall child teacher ratio is one of the lowest around – I believe 1:6. They try to offer some enriching activities like music taught by a Music Together instructor and a soccer class parents can sign up for. We have found them to be quite accommodating with scheduling. Even though my son has no delays, I appreciate the inclusive, warm, caring environment at Learning Links. The outside play area is large, although I do wish it had more greenery (some grass, more trees and vegetation, rather than just concrete). It’s nice that the main play structure is shaded.
The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is the high turnover in administration. It seems there is a new director every 6 – 12 months. However, the one they currently have is quite good and I hope she sticks around.

We’ve had two children attend this preschool in both the Dragon Fly and Jumping Jellybean class. We love the atmosphere and teachers. The teachers are very structured, but also very warm and loving. We were so lucky to find this place.

My daughter is in the Dragonfly class and loves it. Great staff, clean, safe and very professional.

Our 3 year old daughter has been at Learning Links for about 6 months and we love it. There is a great student to teacher ratio, the facilities are very modern, safe, and comfortable, and the teachers are awesome. We really like every one of them. Even though our daughter was doing well developmentally when she started, her social and verbal skills have advanced tremendously. At home, she imitates the activities at school. She makes one of us the teacher’s helper, has us do circle time, line up to go outside, etc. Lately, she’s been quizzing us on letter sounds. She loves it and it’s so cool to see the things she’s learning there come out in day-​to-​day life.
I actually feel the mix of special needs and non special needs kids is one of the school’s biggest assets. She is exposed to a diversity of kids and social situations she probably wouldn’t otherwise experience. I think the mixed environment is also one of the reasons why the teachers are so good and so motivated. It’s a very positive place.
One of the little things I like is that the teachers email weekly agendas to let you know what they’re going to be studying. This is really helpful at the end of the day when you ask your kid what they did at school and they say «nothing». You can ask specific questions about their day and get them to engage a little more. The school has also been very good at holding parent feedback sessions and implementing changes as a result. It’s rare that I’ve seen any organization do this kind of continual customer satisfaction improvement as well as they do. I just get the general impression that they work hard and care about what kids and parents think. Communication in general is great and frequent.
I feel like the price is reasonable for the quality of experience and it compares favorably with other options. You live in CA. Nothing is free.

Great school and great staff. I want to let everyone know if you have children with special needs, and is looking for a good school, this is the one. Jennie, the women who is in charge of its special education program is excellent. She supports family, and is great with children. She is very kind and always gives me tips on how to handle my kid at home.

Love this school. Excellent teachers. We have been coming here for years and the kids love this school.

Learning Links and their staff are awesome! Plain and simple — they have extreme knowledge in working with kids of all abilities. My son is an afternoon class where the student teacher ratio is low so he gets the extra help and guidance that he needs — he a speech disorder and is pretty impulsive. All of the teachers are friendly, patient and understanding. We’ve been going for 4 months and I have seen a big improvement in my son’s speech and his socialibility.

I thank everyday that my 4 year old daughter has been blessed with a one of a kind preschool like this! It was hard for me to pay the tuition but I every penny is worth it and trust me you are lucky if you get to a preschool like this.
My daughter had development delays…(speech delay, bahaviour and social skills delays).
The principle Jessica (who left recently) a young and extraordinary lady was one of the best and on top of handling all children’s and families’ needs with utmost patience and care.
The teachers and staff at Learning links make miracles on our children. I have seen the results on my own. You would be amazed how much they would accomplish in a very short time. .
The teacher child ratio is something very rare to find, not only that, but the staff are highly educated teachers and they know what they are doing. Teacher Erin and teacher Jen have been the best things that have happened in my and daughter’s life. Not only they have helped my daughter to grow socially and more… they have walked me through all the challenges I had been dealing with my little one. They are so caring and giving with so much love and attention! Imagine they are doing so with every single parent and with every single child!
It was sad to say goodbye to them when recently we had to relocate to Los Angeles. Despite the amazing school district location where I am residing,(La Crescenta, CA), I was so disappointed to see the difference in preschools in comparison to Learning links preschool.
You will barely see the staff are highly educated or any special need teacher in any of them and expensive!!.The layouts of the preschools are made of old houses converted to preschools, or they have one open floor plan to layout and group the children according to age with their specific teacher… etc.
But however today as a result of learning links, I want to say my daughter is doing great socially, academically and more… she is attending a montessori preschool.

I’ve only had my child in one preschool so it’s hard to compare, but I’d actually give Learning Links 4.5 stars instead of 4. Why not 5? It’s hard to say it’s as good as it gets when there are fancy, expensive pre-​schools out there. Maybe the addition of a language immersion track would give it a 5.
We looked at about 10 schools and availability is tough. This one wasn’t very well known because it’s fairly new, but is gaining visibility. We picked it because during our visit it’s the one my daughter seemed most drawn to and they have a great student-​teacher ratio.
We like it because of the number of qualified teachers (some schools have one teacher and one or two junior aides), the new facilities with natural light, the curriculum and play-​based developmental philosophy and the community-​based feeling. Our daughter has flourished there and loves going to school.
Learning Links accepts kids with special needs up to 20% of the class. Some parents might worry that if their child doesn’t have special needs he/​she might be neglected or under-​challenged, but we’ve found it’s just the opposite. Many special needs kids have language issues so there’s a focus on verbal communication. Our child’s verbal communication skills really took off within the first 6 months.
Our daughter has a late birthday so we were planning on waiting to send her to kindergarten, but after 2 years at Learning Links we’re re-​evaluating that position because she’s definitely ready. Looking at other schools for the transition year, we realize she’d be bored.
Excellent value for money, great experience.
