Lefty’s Sports Card Store

I would probably be receiving a lot of backlash from whoever may be reading this, but I am slightly disappointed in the communication I have received from whoever I spoke to at the store recently.
Over the weekend, I was forwarded via Twitter that Lefty’s was promoting the upcoming autograph session with Klay Thompson, next Monday. With a few Tweets exchanged, they told me to let them know what I would want Klay to sign and to give them a call, they would write me in, then I could go to the shop to pick up a ticket some time this week to get my ticket. I’m thinking, cool — easy!
I give the shop a call Monday. The associate answers, «Hello?» then a few seconds later, «Lefty’s.» Oh, alright — no formal greeting. That’s fine. I explained I was speaking with someone via Twitter and then he continues to tell me that I would need to go on the Website purchase a ticket, pay via PayPal and he also goes on and says, «It’s strictly an autograph session, no pictures of him and no selfies.»
First off, if that’s how I was suppose to go about it, why was I not told that on Twitter? Secondly, do not tell me he thinks because I’m a girl I’m desperate to take a selfie with Klay… Not alright, dude.
Whoever is taking care of PR on Social Media, may need to start taking phone calls. I obviously see they have quite a few happy customers, great for them. I applaud it. I just do not see myself bringing my business their way or encouraging my friends or family either.

I have been on a sports memorabilia autograph hunt throughout this entire year! Lefty’s has helped me acquire many for my collection. Athletes from various sports teams make appearances here. Lefty’s does their best to stay competitive in pricing when hosting meet and greets with athletes. Most of my profile photos with Golden State Warriors were taken here.

I’ve been a customer of Lefty’s for the past five years.
During that time period they have proven to be trustworthy, knowledgeable, friendly and easy to do business with.
They offer many services but my focus has been autographed memorabilia. I’ve participated in their in-​person sessions and have also bought personally inscribed items from signers that do not come on-​site as well as autographed items they have on the shelf.
I’m giving them five stars because of a experience that I had where they went above and beyond for me.
I had purchased an in-​store signing with Willy McCovey and put the wrong start time on my calendar. I caught my error an hour after the session started and was disappointed knowing that I would not be able to make it in time. My only option was to call an audible and go for a Hail Mary so I called into the store (which if you’ve ever been there during a signing session can be best described as organized chaos) and was fortunate enough to have the guy that answered the phone route my call to the gent that always helps me out. I told him what happened and asked if would sell me a bat using my credit card and then write down my planned inscription for Willie to sign for me.
TOUCHDOWN!
I was pumped because it was my mistake that could have resulted in a complete loss.
Lefty’s cares about its customers

This is my favorite place to get autographs. We’ve met Gore, Posey, Pence, Luck, Panik, Duffy, Klay, and so on. I love that you get a ticket number for the autographs. This way you know when to show up and don’t have to waste your time. Prices are market price. Yes, a Posey autograph can cost $ 199, but that’s how much you would pay at conventions and other places. The key to getting low cost autographs is to purchase them at their earlier signings. Klay cost me $ 59, but after the Dubs won the championship its was almost triple. Panik cost me $ 29 at his first signing, but after the World Series, it’s triple now. Yes, you can get free autographs at games, but good luck with that.
Going back to Posey, yes $ 199 is high, but I was able to get a cool video of my son meeting Posey. Posey was real cool with my son. That was priceless. Keep up the good work Leftys!

Last night was my first time at Lefty’s Sports. If you want to meet your favorite players, THIS is THE place to go. I only wish id have learned about them sooner!
Got to meet two of my favs, Sonny Gray and Stephen Vogt. They were so so nice, Go A’s! The staff at Lefty’s was overwhelmingly nice too, and super helpful! From the fun chats with the Twitter guy, to buying additional tickets on the phone (and the man suggesting I take Bart from San Jose and explaining exactly how to walk to the store), it was a breeze and so fun! I got photos and signatures from both players. Lefty’s doesn’t make you feel rushed at all, and they were very organized.
I’ll definitely be back, and you should too! Thank you Lefty’s for all you do, and for bringing favorite players to their fans!

Riding high in Bay Area sports… as good as it gets?
With three World Series championships, the Giants were the talk of the town. Well, fall turned to winter and spring and before you knew it, it’s summer!
This time of year is usually a lull as the baseball dog days approach.
But this year is different. For the first time in forty years, our Golden State Warriors battle and succeed in winning the NBA championship. A week after the parade, they schedule several players for in store autograph signings and photo ops, including the 37 pt. quarter man (Klay) and the team’s heart and soul (Draymond).
As a collector of sports memorabilia, I gathered a couple items to get autographed on the Saturday prior to the signings. They were very professional and efficient in giving me a receipt for everything that I left and the timeline for the process. I returned about two weeks later with my receipt and got my beautifully signed items back. Remember to pay the extra for the authentication especially if you intend to possibly sell your item down the road.

They have a lot of selections mostly Giants stuff. The worker that help us was pretty helpful. He was negotiable and he gave us some free stuff that are not important but cheap baseball cards that are dollar each. Thank you.

Great place. I went here for a mtg draft and I was pleasently surprised. Both the customers and the employees are incredibly friendly. The prizes and pricing (only speaking for mtg products) is fairly generous. The atmosphere is fun, family friendly and yet still has a decent mature community.

The owner Jim (I believe) is rude and unprofessional. They’re nice only when you’re about to purchase autographs but rude if you request a refund or make a change to your order. I’ve signed with them on many occasions and they hardly pick up their phones on the day of the signings and when they do, they say they’re too busy to talk. I mean come on. You guys have been doing autograph signings for years so this process isn’t new to you. I expect the shop to be more buttoned up. I even came in to pick up my ticket and didn’t get a single acknowledgement from any of the store staff. The owner Jim didn’t even look at me once while he was processing my refund.
All they care about at Lefty’s is your money. Don’t believe for a second that they don’t make any money from autograph signings. Go to Classics Sports Memorabilia for a much better and much cheaper experience.

If they have a Player signing you have to have read this to understand the process!
I purchased the flat autograph signing for Draymond Green. We were told we would go in after the photo op and should arrive at 645. The signing was 630 – 730. Their website talks about getting a picture though not posed with an autograph signing. If you want a picture buy the photo opp in addition to the autograph. I called on Sunday and asked if I needed to buy a photo opp if I wanted a picture and they told me no and they said they could even take the picture.
Well it turns out the big items that pay a premium all go in before the flat items and 200 people went ahead of us after the photo opp’s were done contrary to what we were told. We arrived at 640 to go in between 645 and 700, but did not get in until 745.
The owner stands over you next to the player like a henchman. A young girl took a picture and even told Draymond to look up, but when I tried to take a picture of my 10 year old son the owner dived his shoulder in to block my shot, but what really irked me was my son said the owner didn’t only block my shot, he intentionally pushed him out of the way in the process.
If you read the reviews there are other references to how the owner treats people. My son’s favorite player is Draymond, but no way is his autograph worth $ 89.99 so you think given the direction on the website you would get a picture too.
Not true, this is not about giving back to the community this is about a grumpy owner making a buck because he has some good agent connections to get the players.
Good Luck, buy the photo opp if you want a picture I would have had I had not been mislead by the website and a Store employee. Photo Opp’s go in first, premium large items next and flats last.

They have a huge stock of trading cards. Only downside is the trading cards are a little marked up compared to other card stores in the Northern Peninsula.

Store has a lot of player in store signings but some at ridiculous prices and the way they rush you through store sucks, hovering owner is rude especially during photo ops. Been to other stores signings and Leftys by far has that cattle line feel to it. Some of the staff and one of the owners not the friendliest of folks, lost a $ 800 sale from me because of owner not wanting to answer my questions nor even look at me, he was busy folding shirts, while his employees were actually working helping customers. So for a rushed in store signing and yes they get a lot of players at premium prices go here, buy tickets early for best ticket number I have found
Sports cards– smallish assortment of boxes, some decent singles but pay the brink and mortar prices, they don’t seem to budge on singles $.

I like going here for signings. But when I go there to look for autographs it gets to pricey. But the people that work there are nice. They will help you most of the time. The area is organized really well. When they have a meet and greet they can tell you where to go.

I went here for an autograph signing. This is one of the more organized autograph signings that I’ve been to. They let groups of 10 go into the store. The numbering system is created from the purchase order, which is fair. If you know that you purchased the autograph signing late, you can come later and not wait the whole time. The store is very organized and the workers are very nice here. I will definitely come back for future autograph signings.

I love going here for signing sessions. They bring in the biggest names in bay area sports teams!
One thing I like most of about this store is that the owners are never greedy. They do not oversell tickets for signing. They only give out just enough to make sure that your signing experience will be a memorable one and not feel or come out as rushed.
The staff is very helpful and they have a wide knowledge of sports collectibles and memorabilia. I’ve been here numerous times and they always deliver. They give great advice about your collections and they would even tell you what item to bring for signing which will give it the highest value in terms of resale. Lefty’s is a sports memorabilia haven.

So disappointing. First let me start off by saying while I’m not a huge baseball fan, I am a huge football fan. Been following the Niners since the 80s. So, I stopped by this store after the Niners won the NFC championship, hoping to buy some hat or something for my dad (who is an even bigger Niner fan than I am, and it was his bday the next week).
First, the gentleman that «helped» (kind of forced really because he was in the area where I was looking) me wasn’t very friendly. He didn’t seem too enthusiastic that I was a customer. Honestly? I felt like he was thinking, «Oh great, a girl pretending to be a big sports fan because the Niners won.» I asked to see one of the Giraffes headgear displayed — I asked him if it represented the Giants (like the Panda one that everyone wears!), and he mumbled something that I didn’t understand. So, i just replied, OH, is that Giants related or something? And he gave me that look like saying DUH — so and so is with the SF Giants.
I just replied, Oh, sorry I don’t follow the Giants, just the Niners. THEN, he gives me that LOOK. the look that said it all. OH YOU’RE ONE OF THOSE. Only a sports fan when the team is winning LOOK…
I don’t recommend this place to anyone. Sports fan or not. Bad service. Bad attitude. Unless you’re a dude with priceless memorabilia or something –they won’t pay you NO RESPECT. I have never been so disappointed in my life. Just because I’m a GIRL, doesn’t mean I don’t know my sports… Quiz me on the Niners, and I’ll tell you more than any GIRL can.

I have been collecting baseball memorabilia for a long time and have gone to Lefty’s for numerous signings. (Posey, Cain, Kaepernick, etc.). They definitely have their stuff together. At first i thought it would be a circus with the amount of people purchasing autograph tickets and trying to get in to meet the superstar, but they have it dialed in.
You buy a ticket, are assigned a # on the ticket and then you wait for your turn to go inside and meet the player. Pretty simple. The crowd that gathers in front waiting for their number to be called has always been a great group to be around. Everyone is excited and it is always fun to see what other people are trying to get signed. The atmosphere is a lot of fun.
The staff is courteous and makes sure the lines move smooth and customers are happy. I had a problem and was given the wrong ticket recently but showed my paypal receipt and everything was taken care of. I have been to numerous signings in the last 15 years and Lefty’s is awesome! Would highly recommend.

Although I do appreciate all the memorabilia, cards, and items that they sell, there is one thing that gave me a major concern about this place. I would definitely not recommend anyone buying sports card packs here.
A few years ago I was interested in buying some football packs. And as I was looking around, I saw this older gentlemen busting some packs of 2009 Topps Magic Football. I had no problem with this until I realized what he was doing. The owners of the store would give him unopened boxes, and one by one, he opens the boxes and buys each pack until he exhausts the amount of hits in the box. He then asks for another unopened the box and repeats. This is a very dishonest practice since it leaves packs in the box guaranteed to not have any chances of getting an auto or jersey card. So kids who are hoping to get something good out of these packs will be out of luck because of this.
How are you going to bring new kids to this hobby if they end up being discouraged from buying packs? This pissed me off and made me never want to go back again. Who knows, maybe this is an isolated incident but I’ve seen enough.

Through a gift exchange, I was given a jersey (thank you!). Too small and needed to make a switch.

Exchanging the jersey took less then a minute.

I recently got into collecting sports memorabilia and Lefty’s is the best thing going. Nice items in the store, but a little pricey. They score an «A» for the sports stars they pull in there for autograph signings. The autograph signings are organized and run smoothly; however… they’re a little anal and cranky during autograph signings.
During the last autograph signing, my whole family (4 of us) were allowed to come inside and say hi to MADBUM; today my wife and 5 year old daughter were told they could not come in for the Buster signing eventhough I had paid a lot of $$$ for tickets… too many people they said. Then you take take all the pics you want, but you cant pose with the star! What?! It takes about 3 – 4 seconds… and its for the kids. If you look at Lefty’s website, the front page is people posing with stars at autograph signings! Do as I say, not as I do, huh?
Unless the star specifically says no photos, let people pose! We’ve all spent a ton of money on game tickets, clothing, autograph tickets, etc… I’m sure the stars realize that and don’t mind the picture. I could understand if there was a bunch of unruly, shady people there, but its simply not the case. Not a cop in sight.
BTW…I grabbed my daughter and she met Buster. I wasn’t worried about my wife… she met Buster too… snuck through! There was no telling her NO!
