Mike, a second generation native of San Francisco, was raised on the peninsula and currently lives in San Mateo with his wife Megan and daughters Reese, Emma and Katharine. A graduate of St. Ignatius College Preparatory and Cal Poly-​San Luis Obispo, Mike joined his father in 2001 at Coldwell Banker’s Burlingame office. In his initial year as full-​time Realtor, Mike earned honors as «Rookie of the Year» for all of Northern California. Since 2001, Mike has established himself as a leader in residential real estate and currently serves on the Board of Directors for both the San Mateo County Association of Realtors and the California Association of Realtors.

Mike was a leasing agent for the house we rented. I met with him before we moved in and after we moved out. I can only say that Mike is very pleasant to deal with. He has great communication skills, very reliable, keeps in touch and does what he promises. He negotiated a better price for us. Mike also helped us a great deal to get our security deposit back as the management company played some dishonest games. In a nutshell, I think, if you are looking for an agent who is going to be there for you, definately call Mike. He is very dedicated to his clients.

We recently worked with Mike and Ed Bohnert selling our family home in Daly City. We could not have had a better experience! We recently worked with Mike to buy our first house in Burlingame. I echo the other reviews here on Unilocal– he is outstanding! Working with his mortgage broker contact (Holly at Wells Fargo), we really felt like we had the A-​team on our side. The process was fairly seamless and I am thankful we could focus our energy on the reality of a mortgage and buying a new house (the excitement and fear) rather than the logistical details of the sale itself. Mike was truly outstanding and I can’t recommend him enough.

As first time home buyers, we were lucky to find Mike. He is amazing and made the process of looking for a home very efficient and painless. I’m not sure when he sleeps.
There are a lot of reasons my husband and I liked working with Mike. He was:
— Easy to work with
— Honest and reliable
— Very prompt
— Not pushy
— Knowledgeable about the neighborhood, schools, and even gave us restaurant recommendations
He also knew what to look for in a home and was able to tell us which homes might retain better value over the years. Mike moved fast on a home that just came onto the market and got us a good deal on our home in the neighborhood we wanted to live in.

I have never written a Unilocal review before, but I wanted to write one to specifically recommend Mike Bohnert. He helped us buy our house just last month and we are so happy we went with him. First of all, it took us a long time to figure out where we wanted to buy, and how much money we had. Then we ended up taking a break for awhile. Throughout the whole process Mike was helpful and patient and he never pushed us. In fact, he encouraged us to really look around until we found our perfect house. It wasn’t easy since my husband and I did not always agree on everything. Mike really worked on finding us a home that met both my husband’s and my needs. When we found our house, Mike helped us with the bidding process, and without his expertise, we would not have gotten the house. He gave us very accurate advise on how to present our offer. We feel really lucky that Mike was the one to represent us. Mike is very familiar with the area and he knows the neighborhoods well. He also knows which areas are family friendly. Then, once we bought, he connected us with our painters and an electrician. All top notch and reasonably priced. He has connections to all sorts of people who help fix up houses. Oh, I forgot to mention he was the one who recommended our mortgage broker who was excellent. He also checked in afterward to see if we needed anything more. He’s also just a really good guy. Trust me, you won’t go wrong if you choose Mike as your realtor.

Mike helped us sell our condo and buy our dream home. He provides a VERY high level of service and care at normal commission rates. He took care of almost every detail for us and was basically on call at all hours for questions and problems that arose. Like my wife said, «I know he has other clients, but it feels like we’re his only one.»
He set us up with handymen and contractors to make repairs on our new place, all of whom were top notch. My mortgage broker even told me on numerous occasions how wonderful he was to work with. Most importantly, he was an advocate for us when we bid on a house with multiple bids. He personally presented our bid to the sellers and helped convinced them that we were the best choice despite not being the highest bidder. If you’re buying or selling a home on the Peninsula, I HIGHLY recommend working with Mike.

Mike Bohnert was fabulous. We could not be more pleased! He constantly went the extra mile for us, both with selling our condo and helping us to buy a new home. We wish we had met him before buying our original home. We met Mike at an open house and were impressed that we were not getting the high pressure sales pitch that we were getting from everyone else. We took his card years ago even though we had no plans to sell at the time. When the time came to think about selling and getting a bigger place, we gave him a call. From the beginning he made us feel like we had his full attention even though we know he has other clients at the same time.
We followed Mike’s advice and our condo sold quickly which was a big relief. Mike has really gone over and above our expectations in helping us with finding a home. He has dealt admirably with the different personalities, and was patient us, listening and answering all our questions. Because he really listened to us, he was able to save us time and get us what we really wanted. We have learned a lot in the process, and would recommend him to everyone, buying or selling.

During the long hunt/​waiting game of our first house hunt Mike was the most patient and understanding person we could have ever hoped for. He consistently alleviated the stresses involved with being first time homebuyers and eagerly fielded our myriad of questions which included same-​sex partners on the deed and how to purchase a property when one person is from out-​of-​country. Mike listened carefully and frequently presented us with properties that fell within our range of desirability. Due to our financial situation we struck out on a number of properties, but Mike had a great sense of when to take a break to refuel and when it was vital to jump back into the hunt. We are now living in our first home and couldn’t be happier. Mike helped us to be patient and find the house that was meant to be ours all along. Thank you to a great realtor and a wonderful person. Mike is by far the most patient, honest and communicative professional I have ever had the pleasure of knowing and working with!
My partner and I spent over a year looking for our first home and Mike was with us every step of the way — from the initial discussion of where to buy and how much can we afford, to the signing of title, close of escrow and beyond. Mike not only took the time to coach us through the entire process and strange market conditions (and the turbulent times we were in) but exceeded our expectations with his honesty, consistency and advice. Mike honestly CARES about his clients and their future and this was evident throughout the process and even now!
I must commend Mike for putting up with us for so long and for never losing his optimism and patience. Even through the most stressful times Mike continued to have (and share with us) his encouragement and positive attitude.

Just my background might help illustrate the picture of «how amazing Mike» is… I have worked for the top service companies, Ritz Carlton –5 star resorts, Fairmont Hotels, but Mike’s work is beyond any of these companies.
1. EXTREMELY HONEST — I can’t emphasize this enough for a real estate agent, this is a million dollar decision.
2. How often do you find someone that understands the husband side and the female side? He knows how to speak to both and guide you based on your needs and goals.
3. So dedicated that he is a true consult, and will work with you every step of the way.
4. Vision — Imagine someone with a vision for a property on the long term potential and design changes. Great quality! This is where the money is for those investors.
