History

Established in 1981.

The business was established in 1972 by Richard Ruppel as a part time business while he was working full time at Aragon High School. It was not established in its current location until 1981 when Ruppel retired from teaching to work the business full-​time. The business performed service work for local dealers, fixing up their used cars, until a stronger customer base was formed and that became their primary operations. Ken Schrum joined the business in 1977, becoming a partner in the business in 1990, and later taking over the business in 1997 when Mr. Ruppel retired.

Business Owner

Raised in San Mateo, and alumni of Aragon High School, Ken Schrum has lived in the area for 44 years. He is a graduate of Skyline College in Automotive tech, where he continues his education to this day, and has been part of the Ruppel’s Auto Fixation since 1977. His favorite car is his beloved 1968 Hurst Olds.
