Dr. Sugarman is a great physician. I’ve been with him for over 10 years now. My only and big concern is the rate of Employee turnover. This office has 1 main nurse than runs everything from, appointments, collecting co-pays, writing out scripts and over seeing usually the only one other nurse. Theirs actually usually 3 girls on the staff and one of them is his wife which is pretty good. The one other nurse that runs the office has only been their a few months. Let me tell you about her and her name is Evett, and this is where his office has totally changed to the bad. She puts everyone on hold when you call in and after waiting 10 minutes or more on hold she will pick up the phone say hello once and if she doesn’t get a immediate response which might take you less then 2 seconds to reply because you get off guard for being on hold for so long she immediately hangs up. Theirs been times that she’s put me on hold for 10 minutes or longer then picks up the line and just hangs up. But coming to the most irritating thing is that if you call in for a refill she will ask you to have Walgreens or whoever send in a request. So I’ve done that. Every single time it’s taken anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks to get it approved and it’s a regular medication for ulcers, high blood pressure or just cholesterol medication. Every time I confront her about it she says she’s never received a request from the pharmacy. I then complain to the pharmacy and they show me confirmation that it’s been sent multiple times. And it’s medication that you can not abuse. On the other hand for my pain medication, anxiety and muscle relaxers which I’ve been getting for 10 years now takes forever. With the other 2 previously nurse, I never had this issue. I was always told to let them know a few days before so I can have the written script ready before or in the day I need the refill. Just lazy in part of Evett. She’s also walked in on my visit and told the doctor that in her opinion that he should lower my dosages. It’s crazy like she’s the doctor. I’ve seen her get into many verbal altercation over the phone with patients in front of other patients waiting in the lobby. She takes it on herself to make her own evaluation and who should get what and when. I’ve heard from the previous nurse that works down the hall that she’s heard the same since other patients still see her in the building. Last of all which really irritated me was that I hear her trying to get the doctor to cut 1 patients prescription and to up it in on Patients script which sounded like a friend she was talking to. She said to her, I’m thinking her friend that she just lowered anther patients script and will up the dosage on her friends. It’s just crazy that a office clerk or nurse could think she can make any kind of a decision that has nothing to do with her. She’s also deliberately wrote out my written script out wrong to lower my dose even though the doctor has told her to keep it the same. Or she would Change the medication to something similar because she would say it’s what she recommends. I then came back to the office very bad and confronted her and the doctor. Doctors was unaware of what she did and was yelling at her and asking what made it think she was the doctor. Not sure if it was just for show because my next visit I went in and she was still working. It’s just dumb that a nurse could come in during a private conversation and try and listen from the outside of the door and then come in and whispers very loudly to the doctor to the point I can hear her. Hen he tells her to leave and that he will make the decision because he’s the doctor and not her. I recently that others going to his office also do a review and post their experience. Trust me, I’m not the only other one noticing his in his office. Since she’s been running the office and I’ve been their, I’ve had at least 1 or more and even up to 3 other patients of his all feel the same. If you’re looking for a primary doctor then he is good. But until he gets rid of Evett then I don’t recommend his office.

Dr. Sugarman is an excellent physician. He tells it like it is and encourages healthy lifestyle choices. He has been wonderful for my husband and son as well. He is older than many practicing Doctors, but he is very wise and with it! Glad we found him.

I have been with my provider Care Advantage for many years. I am grateful to have them. I spoke to a lovely woman at Care Advantage and she went out of her way to find a special primary care doctor, who is taking new people. She even got me a new card with his name on it, and had my records released by me, and ready to see Dr. Sugarman. I did my work. So after waiting a few weeks for my new card I called for an appointment. I never met this doctor and probably won’t. Too bad. I was dealing with these terribly rude woman who is his staff making appointments. I told them all the information I just mentioned and these rude girls told me that they have to speak to the doctor and will get back to me, which never happened. I was dealing with this for 1 week. No one had ever had this experience with any doctor. They know you have the provider they use. I kept on calling back and they said they didn’t have a chance to ask the doctor. Then at the end of the week I was really upset. These ladies were tacky and unprofessional. I left 2 or 3 messages with their phone service which they never got. This Friday morning this gal Lucy called me and gave me deep apologies for all of this. She said let’s start over and I promise I will call you back today. I got a call back and it wasn’t Lucy. So she lied to me and I got jerked around for 1 week. I feel very sorry for the doctor, because they are probably doing this to other people and he doesn’t know about this. I hope all the ladies loose their jobs, and I reporting this to care advantage. . Well if any person went through what I went through would feel extreme frustration And Lucy, you lied to me. She told someone else to call me instead of her. Lucy, you are a phoney. There was another review here that said the staff was very rude. Please excuse the too long review, but people need to know about things like this and worst of all get away with it. KARMA will come back to them.
