This place is solid. The butternut squash soup and focaccia deal for five dollars is really reasonable and delicious, and the atmosphere is lovely. Their pastries are a little small and dry-looking but the bread is awesome and the staff are nice. They have lavender flavored sugar if you’re into that sort of thing. I enjoyed Barrio Pizza with a group of 5 friends, ordering apps and 3 pizzas and drinks throughout the evening. Our bill was high($ 97), but not unreasonable for the quality of food. The pizza was small and over the top yummy and none of us were disappointed. My friend and I both ordered hard cider that comes in 16 oz. cans. We noticed that other patrons with the same cider had their cans at the table with them, however, we got our drinks in pint size glasses. It was frustrating that I paid for the full can and did not get the full 16 oz. that was purchased. While I will go back again, I am disappointed in this occurrence.

Lovely place for a date night *and* my morning coffee! I like getting my latte here in the mornings since it’s close to my house and there isn’t a café within walking distance of my office. I adooooore their baked goods: I could eat one of their rosemary sausage savory scones every day, and their day-old stuff(a bag of 3 for $ 3, under the cash register) is always a hit at the office. I came here for dinner for the first time the other night. Andrew and I split a prosciutto appetizer which came with focaccia, a beet and chevre salad, a Leah pizza(jalapenos and sausage), and a pint of beer apiece. We really enjoyed our food and even had a slice and a half left over for a midnight snack.

We dined here once. We ordered a Margherita pizza, a Green Mountain pizza and two side salads. The pizzas are tiny, so don’t even think about sharing one between two people for dinner. The Margherita pizza was just ok. nothing to write home about. Not as good as home-made, but marginally better than chain-restaurant pizza. The Green Mountain pizza was very disappointing. We got it for the local«gore-dawn-zola» blue cheese, but there was so little on there, we couldn’t even see it, let alone taste it. I thought they’d forgotten to add it, so I asked our waitress. She checked with the kitchen and apparently it was there. If it indeed was there, it was wasted, since it added no flavor at all. The salads were simple and fresh, but tiny for $ 6 a piece. Total with tax and tip came to just shy of $ 60 with just tap water for drinks. That’s just far too much to pay for a disappointing meal in the north end of Burlington. We were both still hungry when we left.

Lovely atmosphere with large windows, jazz music and wild flowers in jars on the tables and tasty treats including homemade quiche and ham and cheese croissants. The only drawback is they close from 3pm until 5:30 when the pizza starts. Overall, this is a really nice spot to relax, have a latte and a delicious baked snack.

Just moved to the neighborhood, was so happy to find this place! I haven’t had a chance to work my way through their menu yet, but I am certainly planning on it. I can vouch for the iced coffee and croissants, yum yum. Always a wonderful vibe, good seating, reliable internet, and sweet tunes.

Yeah — this place is awesome! Although I live 1 second away from nunyuns, I will ALWAYS make the trek to Barrio. Awesome, strong coffee, delicious flavored sugars(my fav is orange and vanilla), and tastefully crafted baked goods. I most recently tried a focaccia sandwich with chevre and capicola — tasted like it was probably horrible for you but delicious nonetheless. Also they do pizza on the weekends, which I’ve heard is fabulous. Anyway… try this place!

I tried one of their savory biscuits, which is sold at Tight Squeeze Coffee Shop on College Street. It was a bacon, cheddar, and rosemary biscuit. DELICIOUS! I usually find biscuit to be a bit dry, but this was a moist, every so slightly chewy, savory biscuit. It didn’t crumble like most biscuits. The edges of the biscuits are even better then the center, if that’s possible. They cut the biscuits in a square, so there is plenty of edge, so no need to fight for a corner piece like when to buy a piece of brownie. :-)

Review update: Yep. This place is still freakin’ adorable. From the fresh cut lilacs on the tables to the savory pastry filled with cream cheese and topped with poppyseed and sesame seeds — I’m going to count on this spot every time I visit Burlington. Just thought you all should know nothing has changed

Went here during Memorial Day weekend 5⁄23 and 5⁄24 because it was so good. The sandwiches are so good. The ice coffee is very good. Cold brew would be better but still nice and strong. The vibe inside is awesome and the customer service was amazing. Thanks for putting so much effort into your food.

Barrio, Barrio, Barrio… How many faces do you have? By day, they are a hoping coffee fueling station & pastry bakery(Barrio Bakery & Café). By night, a savory pizza shop with romantic and cozy live music joint(Pizzaria Barrio). And your split personality is something that I just can’t get enough of. The staff here are always friendly and approachable and knowledgable about their coffees & pastries. In the mornings, you can expect to find people hunkered down with a book or a laptop, perusing the SevenDays or simply enjoying a well crafted caffeinated beverage. Highly recommend the Morning Glory Rolls or a savory breakfast sandwich, bur really, you can’t go wrong with any of the fresh baked pastries. Additionally, if you aren’t super particular about having your pastries be baked that day, they have a great & affordable ‘day old’ section at the front next to the check out. At night, the transformation of the space from bright, indie coffee shop to swanky pizza place is absolutely delightful. Soft lighting, open windows, the old reclaimed wood furniture & floors glow. You can do half and half pizzas(one pizza is definitely more than enough to satisfy two). Favorites here include anything with arugula, the Vermont Sausage, or the Pepperoni and Peppers. Definitely save room for dessert — there is always something tantalizing on special. Final tip: they have a very small outdoor seating section(the tables actually fold out from the side of the building) for those sunny, Burlington spring/summer/fall days!

Slow service, dirty dining area and no seats available because folks are camped out with laptops… used to be great when owners were there. No variation in offerings and watch those egg sandwiches under cooked and sitting at room temp for hours.

Love my little neighborhood bakery! I rarely make it in the mornings, but when I do I tend toward savory, rather than sweet pastries. Barrio always has a tasty selection of both. More often, I stop by Barrio in the evenings when it turns into a pizza spot. There’s ½ price wine on Wednesdays, live music on Thursdays and Saturdays, a free app in exchange for a Facebook check-in, a cozy environment and delicious food. The bacon marmalade is crazy good — especially when I save some to dip my pizza crusts into. I love the pepperacha(pepperoni & sriracha) and weekly pesto special pizzas. They come in one size & with the appetizer feed 2 people with average appetites.

Cute bakery and coffee shop in the Old North End… I’m always on the lookout for new hangouts(between clients)…baked good and coffee are excellent. Fresh flowers on the table are super duper touch. Although I appreciate the large windows and the light they let in, it can have a bit of a greenhouse effect.

I love Barrio Bakery. When we moved to the old north end I was super excited for it to be so close by. By day it is an amazing coffee shop with the best pastries in town! They also have a sugar bar with many, many different flavors of sugar. By night they serve the yummiest pizza with awesome toppings. The ambiance is lovely and sometimes they have live music! We ordered a bunch to pick up for my bachelorette party. Many of the gals were on gluten-free diets and and it was so nice that they have a gluten free option. I love this place! Definitely worth the trip to the old north end!

I had to go here since I heard so many good things about this bakery. I got the chocolate chip cookie and chocolate almond croissant. The cookie wasn’t soft, I wish it was more moist chewy. The croissant was flavorful but wish it had more chocolate on it. Overall both were good. I’m glad I went.

Good bakery but by no means mind blowing. Good coffee and good pastries. This area is going to be, in the next few years, the cutting edge place to eat and drink… imho.

I love Panadero! This bakery is run by a husband and wife duo, which makes it all the more charming. Panadero has recently expanded into the adjacent unit and now serves espresso and lunch sandwiches and soup in additional to their breads and pastries. Their croissants are amazing and some of the best I’ve ever had. The chocolate croissant is very popular and they frequently run out by the early afternoon(I happened to snag the last one!). The orange-hazelnut pastry was just as delicious. If you don’t have a craving for sweets, try the savory biscuit, which has ham, cheese, and sage baked right into it. It’s one of my favorites and gives Red Lobster’s cheesy biscuits a run for their money. Panadero also bakes a different loaf of bread everyday for $ 5(chipotle cheddar was on Thursday). A French baguette was $ 3 and the slightly larger and wider loaf of battard was $ 4. All of their baked goods were reasonably priced; nothing was more than $ 5. Panadero is definitely a hidden gem in the Old North End.
