Hanscom Federal Credit Union

As a new member for about over a year, I have had nothing but great customer service from the Burlington location. Hanscom always answers my questions accurately and in a timely fashion not to mention there are great perks to being part of this credit union.

I Just bought my motorcycle and Hanscom funded my loan. Its only been a month into the loan and I hate their service. They conned me into opening a checking account by specifically guaranteeing that doing that will lower my APR and after I did open then backed out saying that you opened the account through a dealer and its motorcycle loan. She was so rude that she took 30 min to tell me this and then she started pushing that she have to go and she can transfer me to a call center which can read me the scripts handed out to them.
Transferring of money from external account to saving/​checking is so much pain in the ass. Its 2015 and their service is still in 1970’s where you have to mail every request since online requests are seemingly forbidden.
The only good part is they offered lowest APR among banks I talked to. But they are worst to deal with. Till date (almost 2 months into loan), I still haven’t received the welcome package to set up online account. I had to call in myself to see when is my amount due and how can I set up payment and then they told me to write a letter to request my account number which they then sent in mail in 10 days through which I was able to set up online access.
This bank needs to update their process to today’s process and they need to honor their commitments and promises instead of ditching.
I would not suggest anyone to deal with them unless they live right across the street from them.

I bought a vehicle a month ago, the dealership got me a loan with Hanscom and it seemed like a great rate. Little did I know I was getting what I paid for! The payment was set up to me paid on the 8^th, I like the 15^th and was told it wouldn’t be hard to change. Boy were they wrong! For a month now I have been emailing, messaging through my account, and calling. They changed my payment to the 15^th, but STILL withdraw it from my TD Bank account on the same day as before! So really no change has been made. I constantly speak to a different person and nothing gets resolved. I am refinancing with a different bank TODAY. I have given them enough time and chances to fix a SIMPLE problem. I have never been so frustrated with a bank.

Good business checking AND business Visa card. Better than the banks! Free checking, good service. I have both business & personal accounts with them and have been very satisfied.

Stay away from Hanscom credit card you will set up payment they will wait to proses payment then charge a $ 15 late fee… Canceling mine now. And closing bank accounts

I am updating my review to say that I am very satisfied with the way that the Customer Service Department of Hanscom Federal Credit Union, addressed my issues.
I hope that the management will act upon the improvements that they said they will be making to their customer service system and website.

Try getting someone on the phone here! I have been on hold for over 10 minutes at a time, have had my call disconnected twice. I need to make a transfer between two accounts, not both my own, so I can not do it online.
I went to the mortgage dept in order to get a human on the phone. I got a human but he could not help me and instead put me back into the endless loop of a recording. This is the worst customer service at a bank I have ever experienced. Try Metro Credit Union instead, I NEVER wait over 2 minutes to talk to someone!

Are you considering a no cost heat loan underwritten by N Star or National Grid? If so please keep away from these folks. The amount of paper work they will put you through and the fact that you must first open an account with them, make this a poor choice of lender. After weeks of conversations, e mails and their request for yet another form, I have given up. By the way I have a stellar credit rating and a paid off home mortgage.

Within hours of posting my 1-​star review I’d received several phone calls. Today’s mobile access problem is now fixed and a s/​w problem report was written. My past dividend deposit problem (from August) can be made to work today.
Re: recurring electronic deposits of dividends — they’ve figured out a way to make this work. I’m glad for that, but too late for me to take advantage of it; I’d already cancelled the electronic direct deposit.
Re: smartphone transfer problem — lucky me, I found a bug. They had to delete my mobile access account and then I took the steps to re-​establish it. Now it works.

Good online access. Good rates. BEWARE — the EZ Deposit «scanner deposit» service requires a credit report pull to «authorize you». Basically — you hurt your credit score by depositing your money with them via scanning in a check. THAT is outrageous. I’m sure there are other credit unions out there that have more convenient services that will take my money without jeopardizing my credit score !

As more and more banks get bought up by the Banks-​Too-​Big-​To-​Fail it’s harder and harder to find community banks. Inevitably, the smaller banks don’t compare in the way of online services, but Hanscom has fared pretty well so far. Their loan rates are fantastic — perhaps the lowest anywhere — and the customer service via phone has been very helpful. I was even able to open up an account entirely online, immediately! If you are looking for a Bank of America alternative that comes with better rates and customer service, check them out!

HFCU has been my bank for years and overall I’ve had great experiences with them. They don’t charge overdraft fees and have great interest rates on car loans and for savings accounts. Another plus was they used to not charge you for taking money at almost every ATM — recently this stopped and I’m not sure why :(
At this particular branch the tellers and manager have always been friendly, personable, and I’m usually in-​and-​out pretty quickly. Word of advice, don’t stop by during the usual lunch time it’s always busy around then.

When I was in need of an auto loan fast, Ashley was able to get it done. Very helpful and pleasant. She made the process as smooth and simple as possible.
The location is a bit tricky to get to. Its located on a road behind the Burlington Mall. And once you are in Executive Park, you have to walk through a café to get to the bank. Maybe I did it wrong but I looked around and didnt see any other door???
Once I arrive, Ashley was there to greet me. She had all of my papers organized and ready. I couldn’t have asked for better service.
Hanscom Credit Union was able to get me an amazing interest rate on my auto loan (dont go through dealers!!). If you can join a credit union, I highly suggest you do so. You will get better rates than any other bank.
