I am in shock, and quit honest offended seeing these reviews. This is «my» hospital that I go to. I have to say, when I was first referred to go here by an eye dr 15 yrs ago, I was apprehensive. I’m so glad i go here now. I have MS and I will go here for the rest of my life. I’ve joked with my MS dr in Lexington, Dr Chaves, that if I ever move away, I would fly up to see her every few months! The nurses in the infusion room, Debbie, Karen, Karen F everyone, are so sweet and attentive. And you can’t forget Jack, the volunteer that comes around with snacks and goodies is a sweetheart.
I guess it’s true, people that are upset are more apted to jump on Unilocal and explain their experience than happy customers. That’s all well and good. But if you’re gonna put up negative reviews, try to find something positive to say about another business. Just a thought :-)

Lahey Hospital system is the WORST system I have ever experienced. My nightmare began 4 years ago booking an NP. Patricia Brookes who was with Dr. Weeks in Haverhill, Mass. She had me on ativan and 5 other powerful medications after a near fatal car accident with an enclosed brain injury. I was never prescribed these meds before… very addictive… and dangerous. It has taken me 4 years to recover. During this time. along with broken bones and serious psychiatric challenges… I trail into her office. She left the practice for overwriting and I went on immediate withdrawal. I found myself in the psychiatric office at Lahey Burlington… Dr. Benita Handi. She was absolutely the most condescending, bitchy, conceited doctor I have ever known and she sealed in my med records THAT NO DOCTOR MUST WRITE BENZOS FOR THIS PATIENT… she refused to take me down gradually. I went on immediate withdrawal which could have killed me. I begged and pleaded with her to gradually take me down… NO…I did not sleep one wink for 5 weeks, seized. chest pains. BP 213/115.shook.could not eat… I made it. I went endless times to the ER. «She is a drug addict»…yes and by them. While I agree. we must be our own advocate. I have learned… I will never return to this system. I could have died. later found a doctor who has saved my life and LEFT THIS SYSTEM… BTW …Ms. Brookes is taking patients on wednesday at Burlington .so by all means sign up. She can get you addicted. then go to Ms. Handi. get the worst treatment that could also be fatal and then have them look at you and take NO RESPONSIBILITY… I advocate for myself now. Oh as an adjunct… I ordered my medical records… in Ms. Brooke’s file was. she wears too much makeup… huh?

The Best in every way. APPOINTMENTS are almost always on time. Can’t say enough about the Oncology department, caring and professional in everyday, they do not make you feel like a # here.
They put Halmark health to shame !

2 months later, as their billing department caught up, they decided to tack on 4 additional charges for «Professional services» with no reference as to what they were for. So the «simple» $ 1200 x-​ray is now up to $ 1,600. This place is full of crooks.
I switched over to Winchester Hospital. The same exact x-​ray costs $ 75.

This was a great place about 15 or 20 years ago. Then some smaller community hospitals closed and Lahey started growing to accomodate patients needing services. Now, in my experience, it is truly just a mediocre place. I’ve had three primary care doctors here walk away — one left Lahey, and the other two took new positions in the hospital and stopped seeing patients. When this happened with my favorite doctor, I got a form letter in the mail with a list of other doctors I could choose from — a more impersonal goodbye than I might have received if, say, my mailman was retiring. Then today, a Saturday, I called to cancel a doctors appointment for Monday morning. I got a recording saying that Patient Services is open Monday to Friday, 9 to 5, and to please call back then. In 2015, what service-​based large business is unable to at least handle a routine customer service matter by phone on a Saturday? Time to start looking for health care elsewhere.

Overall, Lahey Hospital is excellent, except for the Opthalmology Department which is terrible. They have largely unqualified assistants doing most of the eye exams and the doctors are rude and spend very little time at the end of the visit with the patients. Additionally, the doctors only give a brief explanation of any results from the exam. Overall, the customer service, including the office staff, is lacking in the Opthalmology Department.

The Lahey clinic Burlington Massachusetts. Has to be The worst hospital going I was in the emergency room was having trouble with my asthma got there about 2:47pm the nurses and doctors are rude as can be. It’s like you are there to bother them. Had to be admitted A few hours go by and the nurse comes in and tells me they have finally found me room on the floors but I would have to share it with someone and I would have to tell him right now if it was ok with me Sharing the room with someone. Because they wouldn’t give it to someone else and I Would have to stay in the emergency room Logger. I finally get to the room at 7:45pm the nurse helper comes in to check me out and tells me my nurse will be right in. I Do not see my nurse in till 11:09pm wow I ask here how many people are on the fool there where 18 patients and 5 nurse so that’s 3 ½ patients a piece. It takes my nurse four hours and 9 minutes to come in to see me. Wow in the room it was me the guy and this girlfriend sleep in the room and guys girlfriend is using the bathroom in the room. I am like are you kidding me or what. You have to pay to park your car you have to pay to I want TV and you have to call on the phone to order your own food.

This is the single worst emergency room I have ever been to. Spent over 3 hours to receive results on a ct scan and they completely inconsiderate since I am alone. They are putting me in danger and highly advise that I don’t leave until I get medication.
I would advise going to just about any other emergency room.

Terrible hospital. Lab made a mistake with my test that resulted me being in another hospital for 5 days. Call and complain to Patient Service and it gets you no where. Patient service asks, What do you want me to do? How should I know, I don’t work there. Patient service will also tell you, I’m sorry you feel that way but it’s not a matter of how I feel, it’s a fact.
Doctors and staff are rude. Especially staff in the Lexington — Primary care office.
Go to Newton Wellesley, it’s worth the drive. Staff and doctors are professional.

Had cancer for three years before I was told — my experiences with this hospital werehorrible

I’ve used their ER service on several occasions as well as being referred to several of their specialists in different fields. The clinic is very well laid out and easy to navigate. Parking is very easy.
They have good nurses and doctors here and wait times are fair. Any time I’ve gone there I’ve been treated with respect and courtesy and the doctors listen to my concerns and questions. It’s a clean hospital and conveniently located off I-​95.
I’ve only had one issue with a doctor who was extremely blunt and unprofessional. Once he left the examination room I immediately asked for someone else. The doctor who took his place was great!

I was recently referred to a specialist, Dr Alex Vanni at Lahey Clinic. Though my Dr is at South Shore Hospital, I needed a urethral reconstruction and Dr Vanni is the only specialist in the area for this complex procedure. Everyone from preop appts to the surgical staff to the RNs, LPNS, etc., were very kind, informative and professional. I had to be at the hospital at 11am for surgery. By 11:30 They had me all ready to go… very efficient. While I haven’t gotten the bill yet, I can say that the experience was a positive one.
(Tip: even if you are staying overnight, remember to ask if your visit is being coded as an inpatient or observation as it has consequences on your hospital bill and how much you will be responsible for)

I had a horrible experience here in the gastroenterology department— I was having some gastro issues, had lost some weight— they ordered a test, and then made me wait 2 months to see a gastro specialist— and I only got to see a nurse practitioner. She told me I «almost undoubtedly» have Crohn’s disease, and insisted on several more invasive tests.
When they all turned out negative, the doctors performing the final test pointed out there was never any evidence of Crohns to begin with— a wild goose chase for 5 months of my life.
I finally figured out — by myself — that I was lactose intolerant and needed to take a probiotic for a while— been fine ever since!

I love that everything is all in one location, doctors, blood work, xrays… very convenient… top notch doctors to chose from, sometimes lines but go very quickly… best mamogram dept. I have ever been to. One of the top rated hospitals in MA so I don’t mind paying for parking. Doctors here are excellent. Very satisfied:)

I have never encountered a nurse who seemed to generate satisfaction from putting patients in pain. She refused to give me pain medication unless i had reached an extreme state of pain. Anyone who knows about pain management knows that once pain reaches a certain state that is is near impossible for that pain to regain a lower number. I asked her to contact my doctors to get a script in order to change my current scripts; she refused to.
seven west was dirty, with screaming patients. The service was slow, and I waited 45 to 1 hour on average JUST to get towels. I would strongly suggest staying away from this floor.

I felt like an object on a production line. They have totally captured the factory experience.
just came from a routine check up with my doctor. The lines are long, but move fast. My doctor and all the office staff were very nice and pleasant, telling their names and checking mine. All offered to help me with anything I needed, but none told me how to get hold of them after they swished away. The waiting room has no secretary or anyone to ask questions.
For some reason they have none of my records from another hospital that I have had sent numerous times. Don’t know who’s fault that is.
I was sent to have bloods drawn and I asked if a certain blood level was being tested. After the tech referred with the office I was told they want me to fast 24 hours before my tests. Seriously? 24hours? And no one thought to say anything before I went to the lab.

I had a life-​saving liver transplant May 7,2012 at Lahey. This is not a cold, institutional medical center. The people treated me like family in every single department. Believe me, with all that is involved in such a major surgery, I got to meet at least 100 medical staff.
I feel like my transplant team is family. They are so very supportive, knowledgeable and helpful. I can call at any time and get near immediate attention.
Drs. Pompaselli and Pomfret are awesome. The nursing staff is phenomenal and the office staff is terrific.
