Macy’s

My mother and I decided to head to the Burlington Mall to do a little light shopping. She recently fractured her foot and is using crutches, but she had been cooped up in the house for days and needed to get out! We both needed to update our summer wardrobes so why not? How bad could it be on a Thursday around noon?
BAD! VERY BAD!
1. Everything I picked up was on the wrong sized hanger. I picked up a hanger that said small, the shirt was actually a size large. I picked up another small hanger, and the shirt on it was a medium. I checked and EVERY SINGLE SHIRT ON THE RACK WAS ON THE INCORRECT SIZED HANGER. Were they doing this on purpose? Was I being Punk’D? Still a mystery.
2. None of the sale items were correctly marked. We head over to price scanner #1-​not working. We walk over to price scanner #2– not working. We head over to price scanner #3 and after you scan your item it takes 37 SECONDS for it to process the bar code. 37 seconds doesn’t sound like a long time, but when you have 10 things to scan and a line of 8 people behind you to scan their things (because the other scanners don’t work) it is a long time. Trust me.
3. You can never find an employee. Ever. I was starting to think that no one even worked in the clothing departments. There were a ton of them trying to put makeup and perfume on you when you walk in and obnoxious pictures of the Kar-​TRASH-​ians/​Jenners/​Whatevers at every makeup counter, but no one near the clothes. Go figure.
Regardless, we found some good sales and we headed over to the fitting rooms– my mother is hopping along slowly. She was getting tired from the walking/​standing/​hopping with her crutches and we wanted to try the clothes on quickly and leave so she could go elevate her foot at home. We get to the fitting rooms and there is a six person line for the fitting rooms. That means the approximate ten fitting rooms were occupied and there were six more people waiting. I would have normally just waited, but I could see my mother getting tired from standing so long.
We turned around and headed towards the bathing suit section to try on our clothes there, my mother still hopping along. We get there and there was another line of approximately four people waiting to try on clothes. We contemplated putting our things back and going home, but an employee saw my mother not doing so well and told us to go try our things on in the dresses section, all the way across the store.
We walk/​hop over there and the DRESSING ROOMS ARE CLOSED BECAUSE THEY ARE PAINTING THEM. Firstly, why are you painting your fitting rooms in the middle of the day when there are so many people wanting to try on clothes? Does that really seem like a priority? Secondly, why would an employee send us there?
I can’t even begin to explain what a disappointment this place is. When you DO see some employees, they are standing around chatting or, evidently, putting shirts on the wrong sized hangers. Needless to say, we did not buy anything and we will not be returning.

I can not get over how rude the women behind the cologne counter are. We stopped at the Burlington Mall for lunch at Rainforest Café for my daughter’s 3^rd birthday today. It was getting to be past her naptime (holy long line at Build a Bear, batman) and she was getting cranky and started crying, so we walked through Macy’s to go back to our car so we could leave, and as we walked by the second floor counter I heard one woman state «this is why I don’t want kids». Right in front of us! I confronted her and she laughed it off and gave a half-​assed «I’m sorry» and stated she had «lots of nieces and nephews», as if that makes anything better. Completely unacceptable. As if I wasn’t already embarrassed that my child was causing a scene, for them to talk badly about her right in front of me was just icing on the cake. They have lost my business, and I will be sure to pass the experience on to my friends and family who all have young kids as well.

Quite possibly the worst shopping experience I have ever had. I needed pants for work. Just pants. I hate pants shopping, but I figured Macy’s would probably have a decent selection. Of course, I forgot that I can’t just go to the pants section, I have to look in every danged brand section of the store to compare simple black pants. Then comes the horror of the dressing rooms. What can I say about such rooms? Out of date (like, 1970s era)? No three way (or two-​way) mirrors? Broken locks? Understaffed and overwhelmed? EVERY SINGLE ROOM was filled with clothes that the horrible, rude clientele had just left piled on every surface. The staff couldn’t even come close to cleaning up, so forget about getting any actual service. Maybe they should put the cosmetic counter ladies to work cleaning up, since they seemed to have plenty of time to stand chatting in the middle of the main aisle like a giant, black garbed, overly made-​up flash mob.
But I got my pants. And I ran.
Never, ever, ever, ever again.

Is it politically-​incorrect to call someone a moron? Oh well, if the shoe fits. I went to the Burlington, MA Macy’s to return a Christmas present I purchased for my husband that ran very small. The lines at every register were long, and when we finally got to the front of the line the clerk went on lunch break. Long wait for the transition to what must be the dumbest woman on the planet. I had a Lacoste sweatshirt without tags (gift) but with the shipping return label and just to be safe I printed out the My Macy’s purchase history as well. It took at least 15 minutes of her repeating «I need a bar code» over an over before another (marginally smarter) clerk came to my rescue. But wait! The computer crashed because «I guess I gave it too much information» and I had to wait while she rebooted a computer from (I’m just guessing) 1992. Yes, clerk #2 had a better attitude and solved the problem, but clerk #1 is the reason I seldom shop Macy’s. Really, is this the best you can do?

How is it possible in the Christmas shopping season that there is only one cashier in the kids department and no one else to help on the floor? I waited for 30, yes 30 minutes (!) in line to ask a question! There was only one person ahead of me. I gave up and left.

Love this Macy’s branch! All the great brands you expect fro Macy’s. Housewares, especially, has excellent customer service!

Waiting on hold on 2 different calls for 2 hours, then 1 hour to purchase 5 items and then being hung up on each time. Receiving a 30% off coupon code for regular, sale and clearance items as a courtesy in my email then getting hit with, «Oh I’m sorry, this is a limited special item and your coupon doesn’t apply» after being on hold and speaking to multiple representatives. Then when you stand up for yourself and speak to a manager regarding all the issues that should not be happening in the first place the manager states that there is nothing that she can do. After being put on hold by the manager, I got hung up on again after being on hold for 40 minutes. Talk about lovely customer service. Thanks a lot Macy’s for making my shopping as difficult as possible. It’s a shame because I really do love the clothes.

Sorry but when you need someone they can’t be found otherwise there are to many people trying to sell you stuff u don’t want their persistent & rude

We visited this store so often during the past decade that I’m surprised that I haven’t written a review for it yet. While it doesn’t compare to the flagship Herald Square store in NYC, this place is good for a suburban Macy’s. We’ve shopped here for everything from casual shirts to men’s suits and even diamond rings. I think about half of my office casual work clothes are from here. Since this is an anchor store at one end of the Burlington Mall, we end up parking near here during half our mall trips and browsing through the store on the way to the inside of the mall.

Why is it that I get laughed at by two sales associates two separate times when I say I want to look at watches. Do I look like I can’t afford a watch? Deff giving my business to someone else in another store. Smfh I was asked if I was just going to look at the watches our buy them how rude!

Not great… Kind of felt like a lower class store like Kohls or sears, organization was poor and felt pretty closed in, however the staff was pleasant and the buyers seem to be doing a nice job because the merchandise I could see looked descent.

The accessories, lingerie, mens clothing, and petites departments here are pretty good in terms of size and selection. I’ve found some nice watches in the jewelry department. I find the home section, including bed and bath, well organized with good quality and selection and very fair prices.
But I can’t stand the bright lights, noise, and crowds in the cosmetics area, so I avoid that completely, and the juniors area is a mess, they need double the staff to keep up with the kids. The children’s clothing is terrible, just downright trashy. The women’s shoe department is crowded and they never seem to have the size and color you’re looking for. I think it’s one of the worst shoe departments in any Macy’s I’ve been to – and there are almost no men’s shoes.
Overall this store has a lot of selection and I think in some departments it’s overly crowded as a result. Staff are competent when you can find them.

If you knew me, then giving 5 stars for essentially clothes shopping would make you laugh out loud for several minutes.
My office reverts from Summer business casual to full on business attire every Oct.1^st. So, tie meets shirt once again much to my dismay. This was the second year in a row that I visited the Macys Men’s’ wear department at Burlington Mall, and they were even better than the last time. Ironically, it was the same clerk from that first visit only a year ago.
I should point out that I have no sense of what goes with what, so basically wanted half a dozen pairs of slacks, same amount of shirts, and some ties to mix it up. The lady working there easily spent an entire hour with me and walked me through it with an infinite amount of patience. I can’t believe I am saying this, but she actually made shopping bearable. Not fun mind you, but bearable.
The prices were actually very comparable to Kohl’s, and I was even given a discount coupon for additional savings. From my experiences at Kohl’s, I am doubtful they will ever match the level of service I received at Macys.
See you next year for another wardrobe upgrade. I won’t say I will be looking forward to it, but I will definitely go into it with more optimism than I would have thought possible.

For having a «cellar» (ironically on the third floor) that is well stocked (and organized!) with kitchen electrics and cookware they earn four stars. The store in Natick has an incredibly sparse home section and an afterthought of a mens’ section. This is easily the best of the Boston-​area (likely because it is one of the few that wasn’t converted from a Filene’s.)
Mens clothing is well organized, lots of brands beyond the typical INC, Alfani and PRL. I was impressed to see Diesel and Armani Jeans, two brands that you don’t often find in these stores. They also organize their sale racks well enough that I didn’t have to deep sea dive through different sizes to find what I was looking for. For Macy’s that says everything.

I used to like this Macy’s a lot, and I shopped here frequently when I was in the area. I particularly liked the Men’s clothing, although I’ve always had better luck with the Macy’s brands (Alfani and Club Room) at their Colonie Center store in Albany, NY. They had really good end-​of-​year sales on many items. But the games they played with their coupon sales finally soured that. I remember trying to use a coupon that I thought succeeded getting through all the fine print on something, and I was told by a clerk that it did not apply because it the item was a certain type of value sale (because it ended with 98 cents in the price) and was thus ineligible. I got a better deal on the same item at a Kohl’s. But I decided I would continue to buy certain things here, such as men’s cologne, which is excluded from sales, and their stock is quite good. But today, just hovering near the display, I was hounded by not one, not two, but SIX cologne vultures, most of whom were only there to hand out fragrance cards for one or two specific colognes. They even had 2 women standing one on either side of the entrance in from the mall proper. I understand the cologne market is competitive and high-​profit, but this was ridiculous. I understand you’re competing with Sephora — more clerks pouncing on me is not the right solution.
I’ll stick to the Macy’s I frequent in New York State — just a good a variety, and much much saner.

Came here to shop with the princess as she needed maternity clothes and frankly wanted something nice, as we have taste. It had an abysmal selection tucked into a 20′ square corner high on the third floor. Had we come for other reasons, may have garnered a better review. But the lack of assitance, selection, and obscure location just sent this review tumbling.

Best Macy’s I’ve ever been too (and that’s saying something…)
For starters, not one, not two, but THREE floors of Macy’s! I usually stick to the first floor namely the I-​N-​C area or the cosmetics area, mostly Estee Lauder.
The Estee Lauder ladies in Burlington are fantastic. I had an emergency «I need a consultation for an important meeting now» and the counter manager Tanya whipped me up a quick look for the event. In a matter of a few months I switched out Covergirl and Revlon for Estee Lauder due simply to the helpfulness of the cosmetics associates. Side note – the lighting in the Estee Lauder area is fantastic too – always feel like such a goddess after walking out of that section.
Now that I’ve gushed about the cosmetics dept enough I’ll move on to my next favorite section – the entire first floor of women’s apparel. First things first though (and I probably should deduct a star, but I love it so much that I just tolerate it) women’s apparel can get messy, real messy. I guess some can’t contain themselves from throwing clothing on the floor when the clearance racks go to 85% off and a 20% off coupon is in circulation (and they always are…).
Due to the size of this place their is a significant amount of clearance and discontinued merchandise (I love bargains). If you can sift through clothes for a few hours and use their coupons accordingly you can do FANTASTIC.
The Burlington location, in my eyes, is one of the nicest Macy’s in the greater Boston area (Natick is nice as well) but the special attention at the cosmetics counter, the great prices, and helpful people earn it a solid five stars.

Wife’s shopping day! She was looking for a decent mid-​weight jacket, corduroy pants and woolen pants. Asked a few clerks for where these things could be found and got answers but not good ones. .. she found none of the above!
We were led to both the 1^st and 2^nd floors for the same items. What I figured out is that they laid out the store by brand, instead of all pants here, all jackets there, etc. Makes it damn near impossible to find what you are looking for. Even so, not one pair of corduroy or woolen pants to be found in the store. Jackets were too thin, may look nice but won’t keep you warm.
Unlikely that either of us will ever step foot in that store again!

Lots of clothes crammed into the mall. There are, at times, things that make me stop and say Ahhh, then I feel the material and look at the prices and say «Whaddya kiddin’ me???»
I go to any Macy’s for mens shirts and that’s it.
